The forest service has Loads of training!!! ..That is one of their main focus. Maintaining trails..burning slash piles..and so much more! They are Not uneducated people..just because they work in hard..dirty sometimes dangerous situations. Most have degrees.
@sarahporter9541 YOU got it all wrong. I have a son who has Associates degree in structural fire. And another in wield land. Has 20 years of service. And their pay is so low in comparison to Cal Fire. Their benefits are also a lot to be desired.

It was only 7 years or so that the surrounding Chico area was destroyed by a different wildfire.
Two of them. Camp fire in 2018 destroyed Paradise & N. Complex fire in 2020 destroyed my little town of Berry Creek. I've had about enough, but praise God, my house is still here.❤❤❤

And before people blame environmentalists, lack of logging isn't the problem. Clear-cutting and replanting is the problem. Too many trees all the same height create perfect conditions for massive fires

I don't want to. But I'm 63yrs old and I have a safe and affordable home. So I'm not going anywhere. But if things were different, I'd be gone.

I live in California. It's such a beautiful state. So much to do outdoors. There's beaches, deserts, forests, etc. I've traveled north and south & PNW enjoying road trips. Best time of my life. Yes, I've encountered wild fires in Northern California & Oregon during the summer and they were pretty bad.....just be alert and listen to cal fire .
A lot of us are born here man, hard to leave when you can barely afford to survive

Firefighters are paid 24/7 while on a fire, longest I was ever on a fire was 21 days. What they probably meant was 36 hours on the line, which yes. Would suck.

On the right track.. the indigenous people who lived here long before us were stewards of the land. They figured out that by utilizing prescribed fires in the late winter/early spring would prevent tragic and uncontrollable fires during the summer. OH, also using prescribed fire is necessary to sustain healthy forests, by putting carbon directly back into the soil. This knowledge is unfortunately being pushed out by modern capitalism… However, they are now turning back to the wisdom of the people who lived here before us.
Trump wasn’t wrong, the forestry sector has been warning us for years that the devastation the pine beetle has caused is going to increase the wildfire season.
They do prescribed burns here all the time. They did one at the entrance to bidwell park a few weeks ago around the entrance. A lot of the forrest around here is BLM land, they do logging all the time..leave it to the armchair experts to educate the rest of us.. t@Radd1
@@joedominguez9437 I have experience with Wildland Firefighting. “Prescribed burns all the time” is just false. They will only get permission for certain days where the wind, humidity, dew point, temperature, are all acceptable. You are referencing things that you don’t understand completely. Logging is clear cutting, which is not good for the forestry environment. Prescribed burns however only burn the grass and brush.

Exactly the same has happened in Australia. The green movement has culled prescribed burns in the name of saving forest and animals.
The fuel loads become ridiculously high, then we see the fires as we do. News portrays it as a climate change issue because they need drama. News ignores the fact that these fast moving hot fires destroy all animals in its path and even the vegetation and old trees are often killed.
News won’t say prescribed burns save the forest and animals.
I can say this first hand. I was a volunteer firefighter for 15 years or so, starting in late 80s. Saw the change as it took place. Also as a landowner when I was younger we did controlled burns every year. We learned how to safely manage and respect the hazards of fire. By the late 1990s we were no longer allowed to do controlled burns. The last one I did with help of local volunteer appliances was safe and easy. But there was no way possible to do it inside the rules, don’t light up before 1800 and no smoke after 2359. Impossible in other words. Then the soft tree changer neighbors moving to the rural areas complain about smoke. You cannot win when the most ignorant and inexperienced people are making up the rules as they go.
My friends from CA describe it more or exact as I do in Australia. These fires in Aus and USA are no surprise to me and anyone I grew up with.
Prayers for all of those that have lost everything. Cal fire is about the absolute best when it comes to wildfire fighting. My prayers for all the fire fighters involved in this. Please God help them to finally get a break and some containment

Nothing in California is getting better, taxes and the general budget gets spent on nothing good. Roads are bad, education in question, but the wealthy elite seem to prosper. The avarage working person, now gets burned out. I bet some of the elite have stock or ownership in these fire contractors.

You’re having to fly planes and helicopters and the logistics to get the water that way would be more difficult said than done. Can’t exact have a long hose pumping water from the ocean to a forest.

You should have a Fleet of water tanker trucks driving app-and-down the roads with the backspout, open, spraying water on both sides of the roads to help control the fire. Water'll spray out of that tanker truck pretty far

Also, nobody who is a victim wants to hear anyone Monday morning quarterbacking about why he’s not still in prison. These people are running for their lives, their families lives, and the firefighters trying to contain the fire are also in danger.
Everyone wants to see the lunatic who set the fire punished. However, if we did have better climate control perhaps conditions wouldn’t have been so perfect for the fire to spread out of control as quickly as possible if you do want to be an ass.
