    Fantastic tutorial. However I didn't quite like the shadow across her face at 17:43. I felt it was too harsh. Would a second speedlite positioned low to camera left eliminated that?

    Excelente conferencia. Quedo agradecido al Sr. Syl Arena y a B&H. I don't speak English well. De todas maneras, el estilo de comunicar del Sr. Arena es pausado y muy claro. Lo suficiente para que yo pueda comprender casi todo de lo que dice. Si el video estuviera subtitulado sería fantástico.

    No mention of the Yongnuo YN-622 wireless ETTL system which isn't nearly as expensive as the one Syl mentions. I bought two pair of them, one on the camera and the other three on speedlights and the system works flawlessly. All four in total cost about $170, which is less than the $200 that Syl says just ONE ETTL remote costs. Get yourself the YN-622 and save yourself a lot of money and you can control many of the Canon and Yongnuo flashes wirelessly for a fraction of Canon's price.

      mavfan1 he uses Canon, I also think it’s because he wanted to show the new menu system for canon speedlites on new canon cameras.

    Quick note. the 6D has a sync speed of 1/180th of a second. Syl accidentally stated it was 1/200th. Just something to keep in mind for other 6D shooters watching this.

    At about 47:00 you are talking about dimming the ambient by moving the shutter speed by 2 stops from 1/30 to 1/8 or moving ISO by 2 stops from 100 to 400.
    If you want to dim the ambient, shouldn't you move the shutter speed by 2 stops from 1/30 to 1/125 instead as shorther shutter = less light to the sensor = darker (dimmer) image?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  9 лет назад +2

      +Michael Scholz
      After watching the video over a few times and around the 45:30-47:00 range, I believe the speaker simply misspoke when he used the term "dimming the ambient" and just went with it. You're correct though, to dim the ambient you'd need to increase the shutter time. We are sorry about any confusion this may have caused. - Yossi

    How lucky are we now. I own a few Godox tt685c. The transmitter was 40 bucks the flashes were 110. It’s has ttl and hss. The flash themselves can be used as master or slaves if you don’t want to use transmitter you can put speedlite in hot shoe and use it as a transmitter for other flashes. If anyone is looking for a flash I highly recommend it.

    For 43 bucks you can get a 9’ stand, a s-mount , a swivel head and a neewer 24 softbox on Amazon. Just search Neewer 24x24 kit. It’s such a great deal. There is no metal frame to block light, the speedlite enters through the back and points out so it’s brighter then a bounce umbrella. Grab one and thank me later.

    Wait a minute @ 46.25 he wants to "dim the ambient with my shutter" for 2 stops. He should be going the other way then from 1/60 to 1/120 and 1/120 to 1/200. He explains the concept wonderfully afterwards but made a mistake right there ... or am I missing something? Fantastic workshop anyway .... especially for beginners.

    buy a flash speedlight or buy a video light, (concert photography)
    what should i do

    • @BandH
      @BandH  8 лет назад +1

      +Jørn Mulder - A flash would be more appropriate than running a constant light for the still images. Send us an email to askbh@bhphoto.com and list what specific model camera and lenses you're working with, and we can recommend some good flash options for you. - Yossi

      I take it you have now realised that us concert photographers have first three songs, no flash? There are exceptions, but these are circumstantial and rare.

    At 1:09:28 you show a Canon 60D with an optional Speedlite mounting bracket. Which bracket is that?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  6 лет назад +1

      Unfortunately, that is not a flash bracket in the image. While I cannot see the brand of the camera bracket, the image shows a custom L-bracket for the Canon EOS 60D mounted to the camera. The flash is connected to the camera via Syl Arena's OCF Gear Canon TTL Cable (similar to Canon's own Canon OC-E3 Off Camera Shoe Cord (2'), B&H # CAOCE3), and the flash is connected to the standard mini flash stand included by Canon with the Canon flash purchase (not listed separately, though the Vello Compact Shoe Stand for Universal Shoe Mount Accessories, B&H # VECSSU20, would be a similar option). While the image shows the flash sitting next to the camera for display purposes, as shown on the same image in the lower right-hand corner (and stated in the video), Syl Arena typically hand-holds the flash when using the TTL cable so he may position the flash as needed. However, if you would like to use a flash bracket, a few options I would recommend would be either the Custom Brackets CB Mini-RC Camera Flash Bracket, B&H # CUCBMINIRC, the Custom Brackets CB Digital-S Rotating Flash Bracket, B&H # CUCBDS, or the Custom Brackets Digital PRO-M Camera Rotating Bracket Kit, B&H # CUDPMK.

    I want to print your Daily Sun Cycle...but it hurts my brain to see the sun rise in the West and set in the East. North is always the top of the map/page with East to the right and West to the left. Small thing to some; big to others. Otherwise, great video.
