Have to agree with Syl... Ditch the old 580's and get these... I have been so amazed with my 600's I just wish they were around a number of years back. Thanks for the presentation I learn't a couple of new things about the 600's that I didn't before. BTW I like the zoom head setting were you can actually automatically make the flash zoom fire in 1) normal mode 2) slightly wider than the focal length of your camera or 3) slightly zoomed in on the focal length of your lens. Cheers Adam
The Canon 580EX II's wireless trigger is only activated by Infrared optical line of sight . Thus it cannot be triggered by the ST-E3-RT Speedlite Transmitter which only uses RF or radio transmission. The 580EX II can be wirelessly fired by the Canon ST-E2 Speedlite Transmitter or another 580EX II. The 600EX-RT can to both optical and radio but not at the same time. Dennis
Yes I realizes that is the limitation of the 580, I was hoping they would have a receive made like pocket wizard has that would be compatible with the 600 ex-rt and the ST-E3-RT.
Your teaching videos are wonderful. I especially like the enthusiasm and passion Syl Arena brings. Thank you very much for all you do for Photographers. jonesey65244
Wow, I wish I knew coming into this that the first 45 minutes would be an ad from the 600EX. I least I was able to pretend I learned some things from the 2nd half.
I shoot Canon but I must admit that Canon's flash system is still behind Nikon. If you shoot lots of flash, Nikon is much better. Nikon's flash system just works but Canon, my oh my, you must jack around to get consistent exposure from shot to shot. And what's up with the flash synch in 6d? and where is the second curtain shutter? Fill flash also isn't as good as Nikon's. This is one area that Canon needs to improve.

Not true about group D and E being available in M mode. Group D and E are only available in Gr mode.

I expect my EOS 60D would trigger it too, the 430EX works fine.
His hairstyle and beard make him credible. More of Syl, please (all joking aside). If I had more dough I'd check out more of his teachings.
Why wouldn't Canon have a ST-E3 RT Speedlite Receiver for the 580EX II Flash
thank you
The last 25 minutes are interesting, but the first 1 hour could be covered in 10-15 minutes.
"...but the first 1 hour could be covered in 10-15 minutes."
Nope.
I think he is asking why Canon is so stingy that they can't make an adapter for people who already have so much invested into legacy devices.

Nice with info but this is not fast paced...
