My auntie went to that school. My grandma’s house is across the street and I used to sit in the window seat in her room and wait for her to come home!!!
The "art studio" space was one science class room. And, it NEEDS TO BE MINE!!!!! As a professional interdisciplinary artist/designer I always wanted to either have a large warehouse or school as live-work spaces for Black creatives... Whoever their child is can never get a punishment of "Go to your room, right now and don't come down until dinner!" If I'm this child I'd be like, "Yes, please send me to my room - thank you!!!" OMG/G!!! The two lower level "studio" spaces sold me! I'd by this in a second!!!
@@eattherich9215 not me. Been there done that. If i could afford that place I’d have a driver park my car and pick me up in the morning…as a bougie should 😅
That's my neighborhood. I live off of 1st and Florida avenue. I'm a Washingtonian born and raised and I would've never thought Eckington would be come condos. My city is really changing.
It is not your city. Also, your being born in Washington doesn't make you more special than other Washingtonians and U.S. citizens that's lived here for many years. There are people born and raised in D.C. that moved to other U.S. cities and have lived there for many years. D.C. is the only place where I hear blacks saying, I am a Washingtonian like that means something. Most blacks in D.C. roots are in North & South Carolina. I wasn't born in D.C. but I have lived here for 50 years and I consider myself a Washingtonian. I was born and raised in Greensboro, North Carolina and I left there at 18 years old to attend Georgetown University. All 3 of my children were born and raised in D.C. When I visit Greensboro, I get lost because I've been gone for many years and I loss tires with that city as most people that moved North to Philly and New York City in the 40's & 50's.
I and my two sisters in the early 70's lots of memories, especially going to the little store that was across the street. The Cafeteria was in the basement. My best friend lived in the middle of the block.
Where's my blood pressure medicine?!?! WOW!!! Spectacular one-of-a-kind fantasy home. Amazing Sqftage. Endless design possibilities. 2 Huge gigantic studios and another 1000sqft of unfinished space in the unit?!?!? WTF? I'm dumbstruck. Worth every penny hands down - especially at DC rates (no mention of condo fees, maintenance, governance, neighborhood amenities, etc.) If those studios can be zoned for commercial user or rentals, the whole thing could pay for itself. Nonetheless. More like this please. Enjoying your channel immensely.
Hi! New subscriber here😊 I love this! Very unique artwork especially in the foyer. The main living area, high ceilings, and the patio area. Nice wood floors, large windows , large walk in closet The shower is definitely retro 😊 That one room looks like a science or chemistry class 😂 You can definitely install walls to create more rooms. It’s a massive condo with a lot of potential.
Wow, that is a huge condo, and beautiful!!!❤😊 The living/dining area is bigger than my whole apartment! The laundry room is bigger than my kitchen!!! 😊
Liked the living room space, need larger kitchen and bedrooms and bathrooms need updating. Art rooms probably could be purposed as media or comfy family rooms.
Wow, unbelievable condo, $2.5 is a great deal for all that unique space. What charm, not to mention the possibilities and potential this condo has are endless. I love the castle room it is fabulous. I would move and buy this property in a minute. I love, love, love this condo. The bathrooms and fixtures were awesome through out that all that space. Thank you so much for sharing this with us Jonathan what a treat.
Carlos was cool!! The space was too overwhelming for me and at 2.5 million, I'd have the entire building, no neighbors and parking guaranteed.😆 Thanks for the tour.
WHAT?!?!? THAT SPACE IS FABULOUS!! $2.5 I THINK IS A STEAL FOR THAT SPACE!! THE THINGS I COULD DO WITH THAT !! OMG!!! DO YOU HAVE AN INKLING OF WHAT THAT WOULD GO FOR HERE IN NYC?!?!? THANK YOU FOR THE TOUR...
I love it & feel it’s definitely worth the price! Assuming because it’s historic a lot of things must remain the same but who would want to change that place! It’s perfect ❤️
My grandma's old school in a very small town that never seems to restore anything managed to get bought by an organization that remodeled it and converted it into much needed apartments. They kept as much of the details as possible - particularly the stair railings, doors, and indoor trim. The apartments themselves are kind of boring, but they have at least 10' ceilings and it's lovely they restored the 120 year old building.
A ton of potential. It's perfect for an artist or designer. I would buy it and the price seems fair for the amount of square footage. I wonder if there are HOA fees.
Really cool, super unique. It would take a creative person/people to utilize all that space. The current owner's have obviously made the absolute most of the property! I dont even have kids but I wouldn't touch that kids room! The murials and art are amazing!
A beautiful maze😆 Kinda got turned around but love it! So just to be clear EVERYTHING we saw was a part of the condo PLUS another 1500sf!?🤯 Because at 1 point I thought the agent directed him into another unit that was an art studio 🤔
Carlos was very informative and helpful. It’s an interesting and unique building. Perfect for someone who’s creative, imaginative, and artistic. They could spend hours building and creating. It’s not my style, but I have friends who would love this condo. Like other homes, it a perfect home for the right family or individual(s). Thanks for sharing.
As a child I grew up across the street from that place. The original people that bought it out and turned it in the condos kicked, every little kid that played outside off of the property.. We came out to play throwback football. An ascection at area will be used to play every day for years. All of a sudden, we get white people yelling at us get off their property. Which left us to play football in the street with traffic. They had a unused parking lot that used to belong to the school that we set up a basketball court because my parents wouldn't let us go all the way up by mckinley tech to play basketball because we were so young. They snatched it down yet this stuff like this happens all the time in dc. The city and people that move into places like this.Do not care about the neighborhood and the youth that live in it. They move. In the neighborhood and claim it as their own forgetting , those who live there before or currently live there. It used to be. A store directly crossed from it called Earls. The kids and the parents of that neighborhood relied on that store because it's not too many grocery stores around. Overtime to the people in the condo, acting a fool they closed. Plenty of kids that used to go to McKinley tech will come down for lunch from Langley junior hi, can you do that?No more. I guess it's time for a new group of people to move in there and not care about the neighborhood and the people that kept it up before they moved into that Building.
Those were regular size class rooms and he says they combined rooms to make one??? Just think 20 to 30 kids at a time. What was the size of the classroom he went to? Looks like the first two rooms were maybe a gym and a science lab. As a DCPS graduate those light fixtures were in my elementary cafeteria, so yes they were repurposed but from the school.
Thank you for showing the space. Our schools are so unique and beautifully done. You should have let the realtor guide us after you introduced each room. He could have provided more insight about the home's character like the stunning woodwork and the window size, that exposed roof framing/ roof line, square footage, etc.
Once Jonathan entered the foyer it was a wow, I really liked it. It’s worth 2.5m. However, the place needs work and updating. I can imagine potential buyers being put off on what to do with certain rooms or spaces because the house has not been minimalised. I loved this video.
I subscribed! Let's get 10K! I could have sworn that Carlos said...teh 2 studios were part of the upstairs condo, plus another unfinished space with 1100 sq ft??? I could be buggin'. I loved it! It is the definition of Eclectic. I would keep a lot of the old charm but the rest would definitely need some interior designing. Imagine turning that Art studio into the Master Suite and turning the basement into the Art studio. So many ideas! And for all of those ppl complaining about the eclecticness of it.....IT'S THEIR HOUSE AND THEY LIVE IN IT HOW THEY WANT TO! Buy it and do it your way.

Carlos was cool, but yeah you solo or with your son is better. That condo is so nice! Would love to live there. I would change up a couple things, the castle room is cute but I would change it since I don’t have kids. The clutter in the studios definitely needs to be cleaned up especially for that price point. I know it’s a studio but I have seen several organized studios and especially if it’s on the market.
I love the schoolhouse condo. Price is a bit much due to the age of building and size of kitchen. Remove small dinette and push kitchen back more. Also add more bedrooms in lower level since they are so big. The living space in the primary bedroom needs to remove the two small beds and make them an office and craft area. Keep up the great job!!!!!❤❤❤❤
Hey Jonathan! 🙋🏾♀️ I love this space!! When I hear condo, I hear an additional $400+ per month. You didn't mention if there were condo fees. This space has so much potential for upgrades. I just love the spacious rooms. I wonder if the unfinished space we didn't see could be a garage space? That would be awesome if it could. I think the price is fair. However, I think the next owner may want to renovate. You would need a substantial amount available after purchase to at least start or complete any renovations or upgrades. I'd also want at least 1 more bathroom. Great condo!
Interesting space - you did a great job describing it with so many different areas. Not my vibe personally, but could see someone making it a cool museum type living space. Price point is fine for the area - was expecting it to be more, given the sq footage and location. Great job as always - love your vids.
@19:06, seems like a good price for an ENORMOUS space in a major city. It looks as if the school was converted several years' ago and some updates would definitely be on the cards. Certainly a HUGE space. For the right person, it’s going to be an awesome spot but I feel tired looking at it tbh. It just sapped all my strength. With those high ceilings it will be a beast to keep warm in winter. I had a hard time following the floor plan but totally loved the entry into the condo.
