If I would have watched your video yesterday instead of today I could have saved myself 4 hours pulling the transfer case out of my 3500 to replace the chain. Good job on presentation.
This is why I record when I’m doing these repairs. I can never seem to find info on how to do them and the dealer doesn’t like sharing the knowledge. Hope it went well for you.
I apparently didn’t record that part but the tension was much better. After this I did do some u joint work since I had a couple going bad. I haven’t had a issue since
Supposedly there are some plastic inserts in the shifting forks and some seals that you can/ should replace. Oh yeah, make sure to get an OEM output shaft seal. I replaced two different aftermarket seals in and leaked pretty quickly.

Have my truck in the shop for a noise & vibration, they say transfer case chain. Thanks for making this video!
Thank You Jake, i have a 03 3500 Cummins Ram 4X4. Guess who needs the same thing? lol... Great Video. You Inspire with to the point no BS.
Did you happen to experience any clicking popping noises during acceleration. I'm having this issue with my 2018 6.7 and Im thinking the chain.
I have a question, what is the 13 mm bolt for?
Love the video...do you have a video, of the slack, after you did this? Did it completely fix the problem? Thanks!

Where did you get the parts from? Can you post a link?
www.rockauto.com
I got on there but only found the chain and one sprocket? Where do I get the other one or what is it called?
@@troyorman9820 pretty sure the sprockets were the same.
I’ve got up and down slack in both drive shafts. The rear of the truck starts bouncing at 40-50.
Are your joints shot?
Ujoints
@@GDHoneyAcresandCraftWork unjointed are good. From where the drive shaft comes out of the transfer case is where the up and down slack is at.
Only thing I saw mistake wise was the output shaft seal; there is a weep hole that should be installed pointing down.
Otherwise great video.
I don’t remember seeing any hole in the seal. Now I’m curious and may have to go find it
