Rohit depends on your driving skills. the roads are really difficult to drive, water through roads. lots of mud everywhere. sharp curves. check out the road from manali to leh in any youtube video. but if you prefer reaching there quick, you should bring your own vehicle. & there's no point traveling leh in a swift or any small car. you'll suffer a lot of damage on the bottom. & if bychance there's a breakdown of your car, there are no mechanics nearby. the mechanic needs to be brought from Kullu, you'll need to pay his taxi charges too. Seeing the rush here, there's a little chance you'll get a mechanic on board with travelling that long just to repair your vehicle. he'll demand a hefty amount. travel only if you have a high ground clearance vehicle. Enfields are the best if you want to reach quick. because you'll be obviously stuck in the Jam for at least 5-6 hours at rohtang or Madhi if you travel by a four wheeler. bikes get through the traffic easily but again driving skills. you can't ride there if you are rookie.

I don't understand why is such a huge Bus is choose by the state government for these roads, the roads are so narrow. They are risking their lives as well as lives of passengers. They can opt for smaller buses with lesser width. These buses have a width of 2.5 to 2.6meters , where as normal cars have a width of 1.7meters (1.8 meters is width of SUV) .. The smaller buses like the tata starbus Macropolo city buses with seating capacity of 24-32 and the bus width is 2.0 to 2.1 meters. The difference might sound much less compared to bigger buses but the difference of 40 cms (more than a foot) can play a vital role in maneuvering in such roads. The vehicles can pass with ease which are coming from opposite direction and the bus doesn't have to go the very edge of the road to give a pass. The smaller buses have lower center of gravity and more stable. Their length is lesser so it would be easy for drivers especially in those hair pin turns in the valley.

This reminds me the road trip from Birgunj to Kathmandu some 45 years before. The serpentine road similar katcha roads. There used to be a set of bus starts say 5 or 6 plus or minus. All they do is one by one they start and keep vouching for each other during their journey. The first one will keep vigil till the last bus is towing their journey. High in the mountain there is thatched roof restaurants excellent lunch all with natural grown ingredients. The friendly citizens with co travelers is a happy journey. This is not a great quality road.. We need to ask the Govt why they cant build all-weather roads (just in the hilly regions of North & NE India)? Canada & Finland build roads under freezing conditions.. Swiss build roads in very similar topography.. We just need to borrow the technology (& that too for very small parts of India)..

A suggestion. Lower the music volume during dialogs. Difficult to hear what the driver folks were saying.

You have a good eye for videography and editing skill is excellent. Keep it up. Your team is doing a great job👏👏👏👏
Regards for uploading this video.
Big salute to hrtc drivers. Proud to be from Spiti 😊

Can we get some likes for Border Road Organization for this amazing work?
This is not a great quality road.. We need to ask the Govt why they cant build all-weather roads (just in the hilly regions of North & NE India)? Canada & Finland build roads under freezing conditions.. Swiss build roads in very similar topography.. We just need to borrow the technology (& that too for very small parts of India)..
@@JaiD0427 you echoed my thoughts!
A big salute for all brave drivers of himachal, who are driving on the world's most treacherous roads. They are the lifeline of that area.

It's so heartwarming to see this. I can't imagine how much such services impact the lives of local people. Hats off to the entire team of Himachal RTC
Beautiful video as always, but guys try and mellow down the background music. I could hardly hear anything the driver had to say! 😕

That is some BBC level coverage right there!! Kudos to Team @Himalayan Roads .
For most of us it is once-in-a-lifetime trip and for these brave people it is like just another day at the office! Tackling these narrow non-existent roads in such huge vehicles with oxygen starved engines, all while taking the responsibility of the lives of passengers. Hats off!
I hope that's a one way 😐😐😐
Thanks a lot for watching Rohan! :)
Nope its not :D Its the only road they have.

Himalayan Roads Hats off man !!! Speechless 😷
Himalayan Roads
What do they do if there's another bus coming from the opposite side? I cannot imagine how would the drivers manoeuvre the buses in such a situation!
I had the same query. How do these guys manoeuvre when there is traffic on the other side.
@@ani4787 probably there will be some wider spots, especially in the curves. They reverse to such spots and let them pass
