- Hey all, I filmed my first off-road outing ever on my 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 (T7 Seeker) this last Sunday. I went with one of my buddies out there and he was on his 2022 Honda CRF300L which is a sweet little bike, much better suited for these trails. We ended up meeting up at Snake Creek Trail that's north of Winona, MN and just south of Wabasha and Kellogg, MN.
This trail gets pretty chewed up by SXS's and ATV's so we ended up encountering some pretty deep mudholes, lots of rocks (babyheads), and hard pack dirt. Seriously, it was some pretty gnarly terrain in some areas. I go to this place all the time, but this was my first time on the T7. This could be considered soft enduro to some extent. The T7 handled amazingly though, went through the super deep mud with no issues and I was even able to hit some jumps on it! Развлечения
I really like browsing through your videos sir, you're way more relatable than bigger channels. Subbed & hit the bell thing 👁👁
I took my T7 out for its first “real” off road day too last weekend on the NDSAR out of Danbury. I was really surprised how much I liked it over my old WR450F.
Yeah it’s surprisingly good for how big it is!
Have you upgraded the springs in the forks and rear shock for your weight yet?
I have not. Honestly the only time I noticed the suspension being not good enough was when I was hitting the small jumps with it. It’s definitely on the stiffer side for a Japanese bike.
It looks like you were able to handle these trails well on the T7, but they look like they would be more easily done on the WR250R. Do you agree? Everyone mentions the top heaviness of the T7. Do you think you’re not as affected by that as much because of your height and size?
It depends, at speed I feel the T7 is easier in some aspects due to the longer wheelbase, but yeah the slow stuff is definitely easier on the WRR.
It’s definitely heavy, but it doesn’t feel as top heavy as my 2007 KLR650 or 2017 Africa Twin. For its size, I feel that it’s not all that too heavy, and I don’t know, maybe it is just because of my height.
All I’ll say is people love making this bike a lot heavier with all the add ons and protection they put on it and I think that is potentially one reason their’s feel top heavy.
Looks like a worthwhile test of your riding skills. Are there enough trails like that - and moderate twin tracks - to weave a multi-day ride into a MN BDR or BDR-x?
Honestly, there probably is now that I think about it! I should think about putting something together!
@@OgreMoto I imagine the BDR group would appreciate that as a starting point.
@@osimnodcrazy thing is, there’s actually another trail similar to this one about 5-10 min south of this area lol. And one you can enter from an actual town, so yeah I could totally work something up!
Find any Ghost ruts?
The reason they’re called ghost ruts is cuz you can’t find em! Otherwise they’re just ruts
