The idea of switching teams with each other genuinely sounds like a blast! Finally, my weird Feixiao super break team and hyper-invested 4-star Dan Heng will serve a purpose…
The funny thing is, this type of “PvP” pretty much already exists in Honkai Impact 3rd. There is an arena gamemode where players fight strong enemies every season/reset in order to get the fastest clears/points. Like, there are brackets and everything 😵💫. Because it's Hi3 the rewards are fairly good, and because there is a leaderboard, people take it VERY seriously 😂😭.
And because its from HI3, that means none of those things will be carried over into other games. Too many things are HI3 exclusives that we have no way in hell in seeing.
I'm pretty confident the PvP in HI3rd is one of it's most devisive elements, since rewards are tied to ranking, meaning whales tend to outdo lower spenders, even if a skilled player can out match a lazy whale. So Hoyo intentionally declined to carry it over into Genshin & Star Rail. I'm mean, they can always add it later, but once that can of worms is open, you can't take it back so easily...
@@johnnywakeup5515 if hsr pvp rewards are like, resin/relic reroller or standard pulls + some cosmetic rewards like name titles, basically not premium currency, I can see it working hi3's tho? yeesh
The preset team idea has some merit, but there’s the small possibility that rotations get hyper-optimized to the point where the only difference maker is RNG at “high-level play,” which would just make it frustrating. Don’t think it’ll happen, but it might. On the other hand, the idea of switching your own teams around has that same fun element, but without the potential for being screwed over by RNG anywhere near as much
i mean, this is pretty much how competitive pokemon goes where if you have two opposing pokemon with the same speed, the one who wins the battle is decided by who wins the speed tie since it's a 50/50 chance of who gets to move first
Creating the preset teams and enemy lineups wouldn't take much effort for Hoyo, so the lineups could be rotated every few days to avoid hyper-optimization.
If players had to use other players' builds, you could do a bait team like critsha - just remember to include king yuan with a Defense build to bait your opponent into using Sunday skill on him instead of lingsha
now that I think about it, PVP in HSR does make more sense than it is in genshin, especially with game mods such as Apoc Shadow, where speed matters the most
I doubted this could ever be a thing but you actually managed to make one that sounds incredible!!! This is also a great way to drive up hype for limited characters, new and old, as people can test out different kits that fit the current theme. I also hope they add a collaborative "raid boss" mode too, and I've had an idea in my head for how to implement this as well to account for people being at different levels of progression with their accounts. Each player in the lobby would participate with their own teams, and they all face the same enemy. The catch is that the stats of each player's specific instance of the enemy is scaled to their Trailblaze Level or some other progression-tracking metric. i.e. a TBL 70 player will face a level 90 enemy, while their friend at TBL 20 will fight a level 30 enemy. Damage dealt by any player is tracked in terms of percentages, so if a player deals 5000 damage to a 100,000 HP enemy, everyone else's boss instance also takes 5% damage. This way, everyone's power is equalized to ensure that newer players aren't "useless" or a "burden" to their veteran friends
I think there's room for real PvP in HSR, too. You'd have to adjust how certain characters work, like Ruan Mei (I'd make break just cause the break effect and deal a burst of damage, and Ruan Mei's burst just reapplies her break effect and be clensable), and obviously adjust damage values, but I think it would be possible. Have 2 versions, one with a point based system that makes it so the highest tier PvP characters cost the most, and the lowest the least, as well as eidolons and light cones also costing differing amounts of points as well. So if you wanted to use an e2 Firefly with sig, you probably couldn't also afford a Ruan Mei on the team. Allow for people to reduce their eidolons for battles to not screw people over for these matches. Then have a second mode that's basically a free for all. Make the rewards trivial like what TCG does so this mode matters less.
A system similar to Epic Seven's draft arena could be useful if you're going full E6S5 territory. The characters provided in that mode use the highest quality builds players have made, with maximum levels for their character and weapon equivalent. You select from 3 characters at a time, and get a one time mulligan. That way you gotta think outside the box a little instead of just slapping an 'Exodia' team in every time.
HSR PVP would be interesting, especially if you could have ridiculous things that you’d never have, like a full team of Firefly break except it’s all e6s5 and both players just have that.
If they yk make us fight waves of opponents but with skemtj8jt more smaller like action value and actually lock everyone at E0 but not care about LC’s woild be good
I remember playing a gacha game some years ago that has the same type of turn base gameplay that also has pvp on it, the thing is that this game "doesnt" have an P2W upgrade to the character (like welpon or extra skill unlockble by getting copies) and istead focus more on the strategy of team building itself as a way to win the opponent on a 1v1 competition. the game's name is called "Saint Seiya: Awakening", its only mobile but you can use emulator just fine and its kinda old but pretty good and alive right now (and its also based on an old anime with the same name)
as i remembered that game, i come up with some ideas to actualy make a direct PVP viable on HSR. 1º: limitation/annulment of all Eidolons and Superimpositions of the characters, so players who got more copies of them could not interfere in the balance of a match 2º: and "Character Access" season mechanic that would allow any player to have access to a decent version of strong characters in order to not make them so left behind of those who spend money to get every character in the game 3º: adaptation of some character's mechanics for the format, like the speed in order to not make a type of duel that one team can always move first that the opponent, and also to core mechanics to not make them so unusable or overpower in a match (like, how will Ruan Mei's ultmate effect work on a playable character that doenst have thoughness? and break teams in general?) its hard to make such aproach in a game that is already not made with it in mind, but limiting in a battle of "Race" is kinda lacking in emotion, i remember vividly how great was to fight in that game, checking what could possible would be the enemy's next move and how to make it less efective on your team, just like chess but with anime characters and more easy kind of strategy
Want PvP? There's already Honkai Impact 3rd, and trust me you don't want non-direct PvP as a normal in HSR. There's a reason why Genshin and ZZZ don't have it outside of some optional game modes.
Step one: give players the ability to toggle eidolons Step two: if you use a 5* with eidolons, one of your opponent’s 5*s will be raised to match their eidolon level. The choice is yours-become weaker yourself, or allow your opponent to become stronger? It would work well if this event was also styled as being related to The Equilibrium, HooH’s the best poster boy for the kind of balancing PvP would need
I think hoyoverse should make a platform fighter game for hsr or maybe even have like characters from all hoyo games in it like smash bros. If hoyo ever did that I would be all over that game.
If i made pvp in hsr i woukd honestly take a page out of cookie run kingdoms arena mode Where there are two teams attack and defence Attack is the team you use to attack other players and defence is the team that defends you from other players When you attack you are attacking the teams defense team and the defense team is on auto Now for teams they could have something like every chacter at your disposal but its all prebuilt(all 5 star e0 s1, 4 stars e6) so whether your a f2p or a whale everyone has a fair chance And sometimes there will be events like you can only use 4 stars or you can only use chacters that is the hunt path This can make it feel different and not very grindy
A guild war like in granblue would be pretty decent in my opinion. Basically guilds get put against each other and they get points from every member beating a boss. Then it just comes down to how much time you put in and how many times you fight the boss. It being a group activity helps weaker players get ranked higher too but it still leaves room for elite groups or casual groups to form. It starts with preliminary rounds to see how many points your guild gets and then finals which puts you against similarly skilled players. Obviously they probably couldn’t copy it exactly but even if they didn’t add guilds but just let you invite friends to your group and put you against other groups it wouldn’t be too bad. Idk how they would want to implement it but it would give more incentive to get your units as powerful as possible
I like the idea of drafting teams out of a pool of trial characters. Change the pool randomly between matches and give both players the same pool to choose from, it's gonna be real fun when the only available carries in a given pool end up being 4* characters!
Star Rail PvP can work if all character from both side use the same auto build from Divergent Universe, so the only difference is Roster (Eidolon) and LC (Superimpose). Also Draft style can work Or: Battle Factory style from Pokemon where both player pick team from pre-made unit and duke it up
Hi3 has pvp, it’s memorial arena and abyss. For arena you basically beat a boss as fast as you can to get more points and for abyss it’s basically the same thing but gives more rewards and puts you in a ranking the higher your rank is the better the rewards you get.

I wouldn't want PVP in any of the Hoyo games I play. Because A) it's no fun to me; B) it'll be bad for f2ps and low spenders and C) more cooperative game modes would make more sense and be superior. Plus, PVP would attract more overly competitive morons and would make TCs and content creators more annoying than they already can be. Overall, PvP is inferior, I'd rather there not be anything PvP. PVE or Co-Op only. And only no life losers need leaderboards.

Basically if
Hsr + PvP + Ranks = Honkai Impact 5th 😂
-Honkai Impact 4th used to be Genshin placeholder-
And *NO PvP & Rank* please
You don't need make this game *MORE WORST* than it right now Hsr already THE WORSE, please don't make things more complicated for their game & those F2P
7:06 BTD BATTLES MENTIONED!!!!! 🔥‼️‼️🗣🗣🗣🔥‼️🗣🔥🔥🔥‼️🗣🔥🗣🔥🗣‼️🔥
Yeah no, id rather listen to paimon screaming for 10 hours loop than pvp in starrail. Look at how cancerous is pay-v-pay in otherwise good games like epic seven.
No one cares about trash mini games, ppl just there for the jades.
Another p2w game
