    Thanks for another great video. When I was younger i had a pretty fast front kick & it helped de-escalate conflicts on several occasions. Only once did i used a low round house to the lower gut but situational awareness & body position proved it most useful in that moment. Great video, great comments thanks everyone.

    Nice! Great front kick. Knocked a guy down once. Back in my bar working days. It ended there. He just kinda looked at me whilst trying to catch his breath. He promptly left the bar. It's funny how sometimes the simplest of tech will discourage a violent aggressor. Just clinching and controlling biceps can discourage someone. I've gotten lucky twice with that. Not one blow thrown and the aggressor choosing not to engage anymore. The best fights are the ones that don't happen. Cheers to all the macmetal freaks! Stay safe. Stay smart. Mad love from the republic of Texas.

      Exactly. That's what people don't understand. You have to be an absolute master at some of these kicks to have them work as self defense. People always say use a low kick. Really? A low kick against a guy who's full of adrenaline is going to work? Ya if you've trained it for years and can rip a guys legs off with them. Otherwise you won't do shit.

    Good presentation. 👍 A couple things though: 1) clench is awesome for controlling someone if it is just a boxing match. However, do not hangout there in a street fight because it leaves their hands to go to their belt line and then go to you. It's a great way to catch a knife in the ribs if you're not careful. 2) another great kick for defense if range is compressed is an oblique kick. Your overall body mechanics move somewhat like throwing a knee, but landing your foot above their knee can completely wreck their leg. Throwing it higher can push them back to create space. It's very difficult to see coming as well and easier to defend a takedown from. 3) don't sleep on a properly thrown round kick either. There's a video of a mma guy in a parking garage getting chased by some chulos. He smacks a round kick. AKA "heavy leg kick" across the guy's IT-band, completely leveling him. He then shoots a double and slams the guy down, knocking his attacker out. If you've ever caught a shin across your thigh, you know how effectively it will put people that don't train down.

    • @driver3899
      @driver3899 2 года назад +1

      yeah a hard leg kick can really change some ones opinion of fighting you. Just have to watch out for right punch that might be coming at the same time so built in head movement is a must
      I like the inside leg kick, step right to get an angle/ some distance from their right hand and throw your left kick it into their leading left leg. If they are transferring weight onto that leg for a big wind up punch you can really lay some hurt on that thing
      Dont make it (or any kick) your first move though, if someone has wrestling or grappling background then as soon as the fight starts they will try to clinch up. If your first move is to kick as they do it then you are going onto the ground with them
      What you say about the clinch is also true, its excellent for momentary control and landing a good knee or elbow but then you should try transition to their back with a russian arm drag or duck under or something, better yet transition to a sweep/trip to get them on the ground
      The key is to keep them reacting to you, never let them be proactive/have a chance to think or go for a weapon

    Front kicks are essential. As are knees in the clench. A good rear knee in the clench opens up into a knee kick, shin scrape, or foot stomp. I really like what you're putting out here. I might join your squad to see what's up in there

    I've recently had the most intense fight I had ever had in my life recently against a 110-120lb Pitbull that was roaming the street late last Friday night. I fought this thing for 15 minutes and was getting scared cause I was starting to get gassed out. now I have been in a few fights with other guys which I find usually stops more from a bruised ego or some limited physical pain more than anything else, which then we part ways and things are resolved. But I've never fought anything that has the ferocity of something like that. I'm a pretty big guy, 6'5 210lb with most of my martial arts training in jujitsu and boxing. after this attack though it really shows that I have a lot to work on especially with kicking. A very humbling experience and a big ego check.
    Remember not all your enemies in life are going to be another person!!!!!

      That’s gnarly man, I’ve not had to get into a physical altercation with a dog before but have encountered a dog in the woods that was within range to get to me quick and was growling and showing teeth. Adrenaline was pumping and all I could think about was holy hell, I’ve fought a couple guys over the years, but that was idiotic drunken disputes at parties in my younger years, and this thing is not gonna give two shits that I’m hitting it. I’ve only got a fixed blade on me so im either putting that to use, or I try get its back and try my damndest to choke it out if I’m lucky. Thank god backing off and talking to it calmly got me out of that bad spot, it was fairly domesticated. Ended up it was a Doberman that got loose from a neighbors house and was known for being aggressive it wasn’t supposed to be outside. But I’d much rather tangle with one of those lanky ass dogs than the lump of muscle that is a pit. You got lucky for sure. Any bites from it?

    Did a lot of karate back in my day, so lots of kicking. I remember thinking "Yeah when I get in a fight I'm gonna do this and that" but we also did a lot of sparring and street fighting oriented instruction. A couple of things I would like to add/reiterate. Yeah like mac says, it you haven't practiced kicking, a real fight is not the place to start. You'll end up on your ass. Stick with front kicks and kicks that are low. Don't be trying to be Jean Claude kicking dudes in the head. Front kick is great to the chest or under the chin. When you're in close enough, a round kick to the knee or calf is great, you'll be surprised how often you can catch someone slightly off-balance and they go down. This is great stuff by Mac though. Thank you.

    • @daexmachinus

      It really depends on the context. I think generally, it's more practical to teep/front kick when your opponent is going straight at you because the kick should give you a lot of space afterwards. Otherwise, yeah a calf/thigh kick would be fine.
