Guys it means that he might not be the shooter who shot the woman and there could be another shooter inside the house so be careful, do not approach him, and do make him come over.
And that was also a logical and rational piece of advice to get them to take cover on the side of the house. Assume nothing. Don't get shot.
Cops like these are the real cops. Coming from a household where arguments could become physical between parents, I admire how they tackled the situation.

This is the ultimate act of selfishness. The father didn't want to go to jail/prison, so he took his own family hostage to distract the police rather than owning up to what he did. He's a coward and his children will have to remember their father doing this to them for the rest of their lives.
