I think it's important to keep in mind that if you imagine that Jesus actually is divine and that he was fortold in the Old Testament, then this stone could actually be referring to a prophesy to be fulfilled in Jesus' time as opposed to a separate individual preceding him.

However when you want to give a convincing story make sure you follow all the rules of research for example those who did a documentary on the lost tomb of Jesus ignored the basic principles of excavation like the use of gloves so not to contaminate the finding given how crucial they would be. They also said they wouldn’t test DNA found to see if all those found in the tomb nearby were relatives etc. We don’t mind a story but make it compelling that’s all I was saying.

So, a 2,000+ year old stone tablet that was not engraved, but merely written on with ink? Who did that? Ink was used on parchment. The point of writing on stone was the permenence of the engraving. Using ink forfeits that advantage. Yet here is a tablet written upon with ink (red flag #1?) that is almost entirely perfectly legible (red flag #2?). Then the owner of the tablet -- not a mueum or national collection, but a private collector -- will not allow investigation of the piece (red flag #3). So what do they do? Commission a forgery? (red flag #4) From photographs?? (red flag #5) For the purpose of investigating the authenticty of the original??? How much crazy sauce have they been drinking? Just...here, take the whole pack of red flags. All of them. Just... Ugh...
I'm generally very open minded about archaeology that might not fit conventionally accepteted history. That's how we gain a better, fuller understanding of the past. But this claim is just *so* sloppy! How can they expect anyone to take it seriously?
Also, the idea of a suffering messiah was not new in the generation before the birth of Jesus. It arises in the Old Testament books of Isaiah and Psalms among others.
This entire claim is sensational, poorly executed, poorly documented, and yet, is more than anything used as a stepping stone to advance a questionable specific point of view. All this equals: highly suspect. The word "hoax" is probably overused. But seems especially fitting in this case.

I just found an Amazing scripture in John 11:49 to 11:53 read it and I’ve come to an understanding that the high priests of that time wrote that stone while Jesus had already realized his purpose because earlier in the book of John in John 10:18. Jesus is saying how he only has the power to take his life and give him self life. He is explaining his death and resurrection before people even knew he’d do that and Jesus said im John 10:18 that he is commanded to die and resurrect! This is amazing and who ever tried justifying that is filled with pride and can’t accept the fact that Jesus is the way to eternal life! Jesus was not inspired by a stone or a person but high priests prophesied that the messiah will be crucified and resurrect that is exactly what Jesus did! @@abiyah_1 they aren’t with errors they were translated with words that didn’t exist so had to find translation and this wasn’t often it happened very little. So there are no errors and yes I know Hebrew if that’s what you’re asking. My girlfriend actually is Jewish so she knows Hebrew perfectly and I always compare the two and every scripture I’ve read and compared with English and Hebrew. It says exactly the same thing. So anyone that’s telling you the Torah was changed or the Bible isn’t the same as back then is just a lost fool that wants to be right. Read it and compare it on your own.

The most impressive part of this documentation is not whether there is another Jesus, whether the stone script is true or fake, but how much suffering Jewish people at that time were enduring, how desperate they were and how slim of hope they had. I greatly sympathize the people at that era.

Well that hypothesis would have been true, except, that Jesus and His life was foretold hundreds of years before he lived, and not just that, but the exact way He will die and be resurrect. Thus, yes, there is many, and there were many after Him, that claims to be Him, except, none survives time.

The problem is that Simcha Jacobovici does not highlight historic facts. It is well known that some jewish scholars speculated about two messiahs to explain why the Old Testament is talking about a suffering and dying and a victorious messiah. These scholars could not understand that the same messiah would be suffering and triumphant. It is also well known that before and after Jesus there were many alleged messiahs. That is why John the baptist is asking: "Is it you or shall we wait for another one?" And Jesus is answering by pointing to the fact that he is doing the prophesied messiah stuff. So it is not only the question of death and alleged resurrection of this "Simon of Perea" but also the question of the authority and power of the messiah. And the fact is that no one of these alleged messiahs can compare with Jesus in any regard. Non of these fake messiahs could do what Jesus did and left a "movement" that was very powerful and is existing til today. "Simon of Perea" tried to defeat the Romans by military force. Jesus rejected this idea completely. because His Kingdom is not of this world. So how can anyone suggest he did copy this "Simon of Perea"? If he existed he failed the same way as Simon bar Kochba.
Therefore the fact that there were a lot of alleged messiahs is no proof at all that they copied each other. To the contrary: Jesus points directly to the fulfillment of scripture in his works and in him as a person. He did not need to copy anyone else. He was and is a man in his own right. The only person he would "copy" is his heavenly Father whose works he professed to do. So Jesus did not copy this "Simon of Perea".
These facts are enough to just laugh about the claim that the discovery of this stone would alter Christianity. So it does not matter whether this "Simon of Perea" ever existed. If so he was not resurrected from the death otherwise that fact would have been widely known as it was with Jesus.
And the rest of this video is just a lot of speculation.
He deliberately does documentaries about controversial issues. A lot of the historic record is missing, and some of what historians think they know is incorrect, so what is controversial today could be accepted tomorrow. I want to know more about this tablet. I thought that it had been declared a fake by the Israel Antiquities Authority (albeit after much study), although I might be conflating it with another one. I would have wanted to see detailed spectroscopic study of the ink and tablet material, and to understand the basis of this being declared fake or otherwise (if indeed it was the same object).
Sometimes the Israeli authorities just reject finds to avoid violence or out of prejudice. It's understandable that they want to avoid trouble. There's already more than enough. The investigators in the documentary couldn't do spectroscopy, because the owner wouldn't allow it. He probably got the tablet illegally and doesn't want to draw attention to himself.
