- RINALDO is a pastiche of an enigmatically historical rendition of the 1099 Siege of Jerusalem, peppered with classical Greco-Roman references, and set in a world inhabited by sorcerers, kings, mermaids, and an entire bestiary’s worth of dragons and assorted monsters. “Lascia ch'io pianga” is Almirena’s plea for freedom and mercy to her captor, Argante.

This is beautiful recording of Madame Lessard. After hearing it I immediately took to searching for more recordings of her only to discover that she had recently died two months ago. My heart goes out to her family and her community. To loose a talented voice and a beautiful person so young is devastating. Thank you for honouring her beauty and majesty.
This is so intense that transcends the context of the story in that opera. It has a deeper meaning impossible to describe with words.
