Ah the wonderful Iva Davies and Icehouse, the mullet’s gone but he still has a full head of white hair now, he’s also still playing around the traps. Yes Ice House was very popular but I don’t think they got the recognition they deserved. Oh and by the way his hair is naturally curly.🇦🇺😘
This, in my opinion, one of the greatest pop-rock songs of all time. It still sounds absolutely fantastic now, all these years later. Iva Davies with the great vocal, the great sax solo, the great hooks and such an upbeat tune. Icehouse were such a great band.
ICEHOUSE did a lot of great songs. ELECTRIC BLUE is not one of them. Along with CRAZY, which is also a horrible song. Just because songs are massively popular doesn't mean that they are good songs. It means that they appeal to people with bad taste in music. ELECTRIC BLUE made #1 in Australia and CRAZY made #4 in Australia. I love and respect IVA DAVIES and ICEHOUSE, yet these 2 songs are an embarrassment. Some of the best songs never get radio airplay and never make the Charts. I remember seeing FLOWERS at The Time and Tide Hotel, Dee Why in 1979. They played a mix of Covers and Originals. Even as an 18 yr old I could see and hear potential in the band and the charismatic Iva Davies. Their debut album "Icehouse" in 1980 is one of the best in music history.
I also saw them when they were still Flowers - and on the same bill as La Femme, Boys Next Door (feat. Nick Cave), the Angels and Cold Chisel at Festival Hall in Melbourne in 1980. Cost only 8 bucks for a 7 hour show. Them were the days!

My favourite Aussie band during the 80's, followed very closely by Cold Chisel. Seriosly underrated even in Australia. A shed load of first rate music including Street Cafe, Love in Motion, No Promises, Paradise, Don't Believe Anymore, Dusty Pages, Taking the Town, Hey Little Girl, We Can Get Together, Sister, Walls, Can't Help Myself, My Obsession, Crazy, Angel Street. So many great songs that are sadly overlooked. In my opinion, before Paul Kelly got his rep as Australia's finest songwriter, Iva Davies was well on his way to owning that monicker.
