    I’m sure I speak for a lot of people, we appreciate the time you take To explain everything on your videos. Most people just don’t leave a comment, but you do help out a lot. Like I said, I’ll be checking out your other videos even more now that I can fly my inspire, both of them that is LOL. Have a great day thanks again

    Hey buddy, I took both of my Inspire 1’s to Seattle Drone, remember, mine are both locked or “bricked” He is a younger guy, got new remotes and he played with the firmware. One camera would not read an SD card at all. Both are working now. Just wanted to thank you for your help! Now I’m going to watch your videos for flying advice!!

      Thanx for the kudos. I really appreciate that. "Gratitude" is my only reward these days....:^)
      I made a video of how to unbrick an Inspire, but the process DOES count on the camera card reader working.

    Thanks for this!! There aren't really any inspire 1 videos about follow me or waypoints. Kinda disappointing considering I want to buy one and I want to know exactly what I can do with it.

    Good demonstration of using WAYPOINTS but don't forget that you also have COURSE LOCK mode available for use in the specific situation you just described where you want the drone to just travel in a straight line and simultaneously also be able to rotate and tilt the camera and gimbal in any direction you want.

    • @drummerdonniedotcom
      @drummerdonniedotcom  8 лет назад

      Hello Lino. Thanx for your comments, but you need to be made aware of something.
      I'm well aware of Course Lock and Home Lock features, and used them occasionally on my Phantom 1. But because I get telemetry feedback from my Inspire 1, I honestly haven't used CL or HL once with that platform. Unlike Waypoint flying, CL and HL are NOT autonomous modes of flight....which makes those features completely different animals from Waypoint flying.
      If you advance to 7:15, you'll notice that I set the controller down on a table and follow the drone. This can not be done in either Course Lock or Home Lock modes. Furthermore, because CL and HL *require* pilot input, this doesn't allow the pilot to concentrate solely on camera position. In addition, if constant and consistent velocity is needed (and often is in film making), CL and HL will not fulfill those needs.
      I tell you this not to berate, but because I feel it is important to make you and any readers of this thread understand that CL and HL are NOT viable substitutes for Waypoint flying. I hope you understand.
      Thanx, again, for your input. You have a great day.

    • @LinoSacman
      @LinoSacman 8 лет назад +1

      We're just having a healthy exchange of info here. No I don't feel berated.
      You're absolutely right. Course Lock and Home Lock do require additional pilot input to keep constant velocity which takes pilot's focus away from just controlling the camera aimed at any particular subject. I mentioned it only as another option in reply to your specific case scenario that you mentioned at the beginning of your video where you "needed a better way to fly a straight path".
      I know you were not wanting to talk about additional software and just trying to keep the autonoous waypoint discussion on what was already available on the DJI Go app. But honestly, why would you want to limit yourself to that?
      I'm a fan of autonomous waypoint flying and use AutoPilot and Litchi because as other's have mentioned, they offer far more robust controls over that of DJI Go and either app can be bought for just under $30. A good value for software giving you far more powerful autonomous controls, especially for the guys who already spent a bundle on their Inspire 1's.

    Thank you for the very informative video.
    When I turned on your video, I thought omg, he's the best,
    .Very useful tutorial, will definitely use the free mode.I have a question if you can please answer mi.
    I recently bought inspire 1v2 and I would like to know what tablet will be better Ipad 9.7 2018 or Ipad mini 4 and what software drone machine will be the most optimal for these screens. Should Ipad and ipad mini4 have Cellular modules. Thanks and best regards from Bergen in Norway.

      @drummerdonniedotcom  6 лет назад

      Hello Aleksander. I personally use the iPad 9.7" and really like it. I have two of them; the Air 1 and the Air Pro. I don't have the best eyes, so the large image is helpful. Also, when working on a film set, I use goggles to see the video feed. This allows me to hand the 9.7" iPad to the DP, which I believe they appreciate. So far DP's have been very complimentary of the work flow.
      Regarding software, you will choose software based on your photography needs. For my Inspire, I use DJI Go and Autopilot. An iPad Air Pro will run all drone-related apps with nary an issue with one exception. I find on hot days, if I'm not diligent about keeping the iPad cool, Autopilot will actually overheat the iPad, causing it to shut down or crash . If you ever find yourself using Autopilot, I can share more details. That said...
      You may find some of my other tutorials useful for tuning your bird. The tutorial on better video reception is particularly useful. Good luck!

      Hello Donnie.Thank you very much for a very quick answer. I think I will choose iPad 9.7 because it's better to look at the bigger screen.

      @@alexthiger : Oh....the version. I use Go App v3.1.1. This is the latest version that does NOT require a random login to the mother ship for no freaking reason. My work often takes me out of cell range, so I can't "login" to DJI to get their permission to fly my own drone.
      For the Go 4 App (which is used with the Mavic Pro and P4P), I use v4.0.8 for the same reason.

    Very useful tutorial, will definitely use the free mode. Had a few problems with glitchy video transmission which I think is now solved thanks to one of your previous videos (MANY MANY MANY THANKS brilliant tip). May I ask you what settings were used for the camera 4k 1080p etc as the end result video from your bird still looks a little smoother than my attempts so far which suffer slightly from image blur on panning even during relatively slow pans..

    I really appreciate your video in depth on a problem I have been trying to resolve. I have an inspire 2 with a X5S lens and I am trying to use waypoints for my missions. I am not as skilled as you at running the camera so I am looking for a way to have the bird always fly forward to take advantage of the obstacle avoidance and to automatically track the point of interest by rotating the gimbal. I have tried both DJI go app and the litchi app. Any suggestions?

    • @drummerdonniedotcom

      I use Autopilot for fully automated flights. It's resource heavy, so it'll crash an iPad Air 1, and Air 2 if it's over 80 degrees outside. It'll crash my iPad Pro if it's over 90 degrees. My way around this has been to keep the iPad in the refrigerator over night, and turn the brightness down to the lowest tolerable level (I use goggles anyway). Autopilot is pretty cheap - 30 bucks I believe. So it's worth trying.
      I used Autopilot to make this video, which is a work still in progress.

      Thank you Donnie. I have started looking at autopilot and that looks like it might be what I need. I've tried to learn to make smooth videos manually, but this old engineer doesn't have the eye hand coordination to make anything look decent.

    Outstanding tutorial! I have a Phantom 4pro and am looking at moving up to an inspire, I’m leaning towards an inspire pro black with the x5, but I’m a bit nervous after seeing lots of inspire 1 fly away videos! Has your inspire been a reliable bird for you? Any reason I should pick the inspire 2 over the inspire pro? Thanks for the great videos!

    • @drummerdonniedotcom
      @drummerdonniedotcom  7 лет назад +1

      Between my partner and I, we have 3 Inspire 1's, and they've all been rock solid reliable. I have about 50 hours on mine and my partner has roughly 20 hours each on his. Just flew today for a client. Set up the firmware and software like I outline in this video, and you should achieve rock-solid reliability, as well. Conversely, the Inspire 2 has NOT been reliable. I see fly-aways and crashes all the time in the forums.

      Yes. You can set the drone to fly straight up to a waypoint directly above it, if you wish.

    After running a mission, let's say, with a straight line with two points -- can I run that same mission again without reloading it once it is finished?

    • @drummerdonniedotcom
      @drummerdonniedotcom  8 лет назад

      Absolutely. The Waypoints are stored until you delete them. So you can rerun them that day or weeks later, if you wish.
      Time saver: If you're only running 2 points, it's best to just reverse back through. You then have the option to either pause the flight, or just let it run the Waypoints again. You can do this over and over until you run out of battery.

    • @drummerdonniedotcom

      I agree. But keep in mind I produced this entire video on my own. This means not only operating the drone, but running TWO cameras AND the drone's camera (3 total). Also worth noting, back then I was using iOS 8.xx or 9.xx, which did not include the screen record feature.

      It's the Go App, v3.1.1, which was the latest version at the time of this video. This is the version I use and the version I recommend. Other versions should behave basically the same but will probably have GUI differences. I have not tested the newer versions of the Go App.
      I have updated the Title and Description to reflect this data.
