Edge also has a useful split screen feature. But it needs to be turned on from edge://flags

Edge is a piece of garbage browser that no one uses. Everyone despise edge because is to bloated and crappy. Their bunch of liars and also forcing everyone to use it against user’s will. No wonder crappy edge market share is decreasing due to its dirty tactics. Edge is nothing but a dying web browser that will disappear in the next decade. Everyone should move to google chrome. Crappy edge won’t stand a chance against google chrome superiority.

People like me are sick and tired of MS ramming their products in my face. For example I'm a business user, so why do MS think it's appropriate to load a side bar without my permission and load it with "Game" icons! They reduce my viewing area and clutter my screen with their crap, thinking this this great. The Sidebar used to have an option to remove it, but now MS have even removed the option to remove their friggin sidebar. They are SO ARROGANT. Can you image if your bought a Ford car and then Ford started showing adverts and crap on the windscreen whilst you're trying to concentrate and drive!

My default browser is Brave, and although I love the new Edge functionalities, I do miss Brave's adblockers and tracker blockers, cookie management tools and so on.
It's tempting to fully switch to Edge, but without these blocking features it's still not THE one browser imo
Great video btw, love the channel

You're very correct, I actually had a segment on adblockers but decided to edit it out! Definitely agree with you, Edge lacks this - I hope they have plans to work on this. I feel like if they get it right, they will have such a well rounded tool. Thanks for the comment

One of my favorite features in the Edge side bar is Drop. It's like a cross platform version of Apple's Air Drop. Plus as a bonus you can make screenshots in it and do basic markups. (And some better markup tools than what you get in Windows Snip app.)

Tbh, setting all the technicalities aside. When i use edge. I find it really hard to find the information i need. It just comes up a bunch of nonsense in the same theme, but not what im asking for. But when i put the same questions in chrome i get everything i need.

Same experience for me, edge or MS search engine results seem to provide mostly commercial adds, never get a satisfactory outcome to a search. Only use Edge to access one drive file storage. However, may try again given your advice, early user and bad experiences are hard to forgive.

Since I started using Vivaldi I can't change. It fixed my issues with too many tabs, because it natively gives you a compact vertical list of tabs, which is much better than any extensions I tried before, which are all bulky, heavy, and full of features I couldn't care less about. Vivaldi also lets you hide the horizontal tabs at the top, so you can use the vertical ones exclusively.
It also lets you "hibernate" entire groups of tabs, and it really releases all their memory. It's much better than any extensions I've tried in the past. I don't really like Vivaldi's tab-stacking feature, but you can use it to create the tab groups, which get represented as a tree in the sidebar.
The vertical tabs fixed my problems with too many tabs because I usually ended up opening multiple duplicates of the same tabs, because I lost track of where they were, both on chrome and firefox. I ended up having upwards of 1500 tabs open. It went completely out of control. With vertical tabs it's easier to see many tabs at once, along with their titles, so it's easier to keep track of them, and it's much easier to clean up when I still make a few duplicates.

There really isn't a 'good' browser out there. Most are resource hogs, do not respect your privacy without jumping through hoops (there is the hosts file, but most browsers ignore it these days) to some degree and I guess ungoogled chromium is a thing but you miss out on features vs privacy, which you shouldn't have to choose. Lynx text based browser is a thing (which I use) but it obviously isn't modern. 👍🏽 appreciate your viewpoint... Salute

Edge has been better than Chrome for a while now. It just has alot of useful features (collections, vertical tabs, translate, read aloud, web capture, better sidebar, pdf editing, etc.).
But now that they have the built in AI, it's kind of a blowout. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing necessarily wrong with Chrome... but it's severely lacking in features.

    • @codingwithdee
      @codingwithdee  Год назад +2

I think you're exactly right... there's nothing really wrong with Chrome but just wish there was more. I guess back in the day, when we had internet explorer there was just TOO many features that made it clunky and then Chrome came along with the simple interface. But now it's just too simple and nobody wants to install a bunch of extensions to get it the way they want. Thanks for watching!

Very well said. I just out of nowhere decided to give it a try a couple of weeks back, and a couple of days later and I'd just outright uninstalled Chrome. For me this is a massive leap from what Chrome was, and that's before even considering extensions. The sidebar functions and Bing just complete the package wonderfully. And it doesnt try to eat my whole machine while running either, or whatever nonsense Chrome was doing all the time... seriously that browser just never seemed to work quite right.

Don't get me wrong. Chromium is a nice base for a browser, but everything Google with Chrome or Microsoft with Edge is building on top of that is primarily designed to get most out of your precious data.

@@josephoverstreet5584 I know it does the same, but it's not so nakedly blatant about it. With M$oft in Windows-10 for instance trying to get you to click on loads of things *just within windows* before you even have a browser open, to kick off Edge which then tries to get you to change your default browser to Edge before you even do anything else. At every turn, W10 is trying to foist Edge->Bing onto you, & I gather it's even worse in W11 which for me is a version too far
