Davy Jones was already a Sea Legend. And already bound to the Flying Dutchman (De Vliegende Hollander) which was a real ship. The Flying Dutchman was a Fluyt of the VOC going to Batavia. Severus is right... So is the human nature... always as been. We are, all of us, big meat sacks of unstable emotions... those emotions can explodes anywhere at any moment... All of us have the potential to commit the worse crime of pure evil known or imagined by men... All the difference between every man and women on this small planet reside in the way we resist to evil tentations and how we can balance it with the rest... For example: If someone know exactly how and where to attack mentally any of you (including me) in this comment section, well this person can make you the monster you never believed that you could become... Some person are easier to attack than other but if the attack is done right, this person will inevitably fail at a moment or another. Like Severus said earlier, our actions(intentional or not) can show the worse out of a man. (We can call that some kind of butterfly effect) Thus said, we are all sheep following another sheep... everyone will try to make himself look more unique than other even if we are pretty much the same... We are dumber and dumber as we become more numerous, so much that we cant even think by ourself anymore... Just look at people during this Covid 19 « Pandemic », its so pathetic to look at them panic about something they dont even know or understand further than what they have been told... They cant even realize when their rights have been violated... All they know and believe are numbers, nobody know where those numbers come but here they are... the thing with numbers is that we can alway make them say what we want... A disease supposedly so dangerous yet in reality it’s nothing more than a boosted up flu... All those « cases » are nothing more than the number of people who are infected with the disease, yet 1% of those who get heavy symptoms actually die and 10% of those who actually get symptoms out of all those who got the disease go to the hospital... the worse is that those numbers can be wrong. You know where am going? After all of this you may treat me like a conspirator... but there is no such thing as a conspiracy... *what’s happening is simply what as been happening since men started to live in society... those who are at the top are abusing the one who are lower than them to become even more powerful* ... its as simple as it can get. Like I said earlier, we are all sheep following another sheep... and this sheep is eventually following the shepherd... Its a vicious circle that is older than anyone alive today on this planet... And even if you disagree... deep inside you know that am right, because me too am a sheep, and am following another sheep like everyone... its just that me and some other people, sometimes look outside the wall to see how simple life truly is... Am not trying to be a « smart philosopher » right now, am surely as smart as everyone here and all that I said was only pure logic. All of this to prove that we are all the same in someway, just like the animal we once were. But should you get depressed because of this? No, surely not... you can choose to accept it... *Someone once said that we cant really be happy until we found out that we actually control nothing...* *So is the human nature...*

So powerful. It starts calmly, as their love for each other grows. Then she charged him with his duty, with a promise that after 10 years she will be there for him. 1:14 He waited, and waited, but soon needed to go back to his ship because the day was over. And as he went back to his ship with his boat his rage and hate started burning, like a storm in the sea getting stronger and stronger, destroying everything he came across, just because if he can't be happy then why should anyone else be happy? His rage and hatred pushed him forward. 2:36 But in the end... even after everything she did... he still loved her.
"Ten years I devoted to the duty you charged of me. Ten years I looked after those that died at sea. And finally. When we could be together again, You. Weren't.There!...Why weren't you there?" That will always be one of my all time favorite lines in any movie ever. So full of heartache and betrayal.
Blobbert Mcblob j Just they way she said "it's my nature" pissed me off. You "love" him, but give him and extremely difficult, permanent but important duty. And all he wanted was to see you again and you couldn't take one fucking day off from lounging around being a sea goddess to at least say hi?! Fuck you Calypso! (Please don't send killer crabs after me)
That was one Thing i didn't understand, i mean it was more then cruel from her. When she'd truly love him she would want to see him as often as possible anyway. But tasking someone to be forced to sail for ten years straight without being allowed to step on an Island at least once. And allow him one day off to see you. And then when he does not even being there for a minute is just stupid. It's my Nature is no damn excuse since he is forced to be on his ship for ten years while she as godess can be everywhere at any time. And eventho she was the sea she'd knew that he wanted to physicaly see her as well at least once to talk to her. Well, movie logic.
The Sea is a cruel mistress, leading only to betrayal and misery as men lose their lives in her, turned from their ships into the Abyss by a storm or forgetting all that was behind them. Men do not go to the sea for adventure, they go to lose all they have left for one last journey to their end. Perhaps her cruel nature got the best of her, and she made Jones forever lost in that endless expanse.
I could be wrong but it seemed to be one of the reasons he loved her so much. Davy Jones seems to be very cruel himself probably even before he was charged with this task or whatever. It's been awhile since I saw the movie but didn't she say something about "If I was any different you wouldn't love me." or something like that. So basically, Jones is kind of a masochist and in a weird way loves that which cannot be tamed. But I think the point to take away from it all is that Davy Jones was so in love with her that despite her betraying him, he had to literally carve out his heart to ease the pain of what he had done by trapping her in human form. I think his character is meant to personify a sailor with enough hubris to think they can tame the sea. Even at such a heavy price, Calypso (the sea) basically stood him up to reinforce that law. Nothing can tame the wicked heart of the sea, not even one of the best sailors with the greatest desire to do so. In the end, his obsession and love with such a vile and unpredictable force got him a watery grave.
I suppose many of them also have deeper meaning despite appearing either insignificant or like Jack, just funny. I’ve seen explanations behind specific scenes & it paints a different light on the characters. POTC is so underrated
Hmmmmm, it’s funny though, I think that Pirates of Caribbean it won’t be the same without Johnny Depp 😔. Like the Fast & Furious without Paul Walker 🙏.
The music box at the start is calmness and love with happyness. Then it turns into sadness, loss and deppression, after which it become Anger and Regret, swiftly followed blame and hatered, and then at its turns into Rage and destruction, Then at the end, all that is left is Sorrow and tainted memories of what once was.
The beginning of the song where the music box plays isnt happy, I'd say its more of a sad and lonely beginning following onto rage and then hatred, at the end betrayal and sorrow.
Well, it was a pretty big promise. He performed an extraordinary service for her to see him for one measly day, and when she didn't show up, he stopped performing his service. Of course, he was still punished by being made monstrous, even though it's technically the other party (Calypso) that didn't fulfill her end of the deal. :/

This is relatable I had almost the same conversation when my ex got in some big legal trouble over some protest and her response was would you love me if I was any different. That just plays on the strings of your heart, but I would. Why does a woman think their attraction is in the defiant things they do. Because besides the trouble she got into I adored her The last time she protested she got arrested again and she broke up with me because she didn't like to be told not to do it again. I literary became Davy Jones minus the tentacles, she wanted to stay friends and I told her I didn't love her. I'm either seeing things that are not there, because she cried when I said this or she still loves me and she's just stubbornly refuses to give in on her principles. But my heart has been locked in a chest ever since and every day I think about her.

Davy Jones was just a man who fell in love with the wrong woman. Calypso is the reason why he became a villain. He literally ripped his heart out because of her. And the saddest part is that he still loved her unconditionally...

Just imagine Davy Jones sitting alone in his cabin, holding the music box in his hands, tears coursing down his cheeks as he listened to the tinkling tune. He listened to it every night for weeks, months, years, decades, centuries... He finds himself sitting in front of his organ, playing along to the tune, thinking longingly of his love standing on the shore, waiting for him. Then, as quick as a lightning flash, it finally occurred to him: he was never going to see Calypso standing among the sandy beach, waiting for him with open arms. His soft and gentle playing erupts into an angry chaotic tune that only vaguely resembles the melody he once listened to in peace. The more he plays it, the angrier it becomes, each tune resonating with his wrath. His crew notices, but no one dares mentioning it. Even after hundreds of years does his crew never speak of it, and together, they all come to the same unspoken agreement. Once they hear this wrathful song bellowing from below deck, they all knew it was wise to obey and treat their captain with utmost respect. Edit: Thank you all so much for the kind words! They all mean the world to me, as I'm aspiring to be an author.
I'm currently obsessed with this character. Watched the movies as a teen, but never really cared for him back then. And then you grow up and realize that this guy lived through a betrayal that would break most of us. Beautifully done character writing and design.

It will be a long time before we get another "perfect storm" like the original Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy. The first of its kind, the only good pirate film in the genre, an amazing blend of action, romance, mysticism, reality, and darkness that has never been truly replicated since. And while The Black Pearl and its crew definitely held the first film, the trilogy wouldn't have been what it was without Davy Jones. His strange mannerisms, brutal methods, and stunning design captivated, but his depth grew as slowly we find out more and more of his tragic story, the tale that made a man into a monster. It will be a long time, if ever, that we get another Disney villain as perfect as Davy Jones.
We will get a life action One Piece so fingers crossed it will be good. And if it will succeed, then I really hope we will get another good cinematic pirate universe

As much as I enjoyed davy jones in dead man's chest and at world's end, I would have to say no for 2 reasons. 1. They would probably ruin his character just like they ruined Jack's character in dead men tell no tales. 2. It would ruin the mystery behind him.
It's not in the song that's a quote from an old book I read about pirates that my uncle had. It was at the part in the book when the crew killed the captains family so the captain goes mad and kills the whole crew.
alexiaNBC True it does look like that. Reason why he looks like that is because the Flying dutchman has a job to ferry the dead, Davy jones came to see his love which was calypso, she wasn't there so Davy Jones left with anger and hatred on calypso as he can only come onto land every 10 years. He stopped doing his duty so he became a monster and all he had left from his love was a lullaby. He went to the first bretherin court which then he shown them how to bind calypso to her human form. He betrayed calypso by doing that then after he corrupted his purpose of being the flying Dutchman. Then he became the terror of the seas and he got his own pet as they call it, the Kraken. Some people call it his terrible beastie. Not just that they believed that the black spot is basically means that the Kraken is coming to kill you.

(We can call that some kind of butterfly effect)
Thus said, we are all sheep following another sheep... everyone will try to make himself look more unique than other even if we are pretty much the same...
*Someone once said that we cant really be happy until we found out that we actually control nothing...*
*So is the human nature...*
And he got tentacles
Davy Jones and Anakin Skywalker are a clear example of how love can corrupt a mans heart and unleash evil.
Pb Skillz Love and the fear of loss were his reasons.
Davey Jones is not evil
Anakin... He wasn't truly evil by love's action but rather it was a series of events that led to his downfall, enslavement, losing his mother, not being cared at by the Jedi council even if he dedicated himself to them... Told many times to suppress his emotions & let bad things happen even if he had the power to prevent them, Padme was the only thing he had left & he killed her due to his mistaken anger.
The last thing is his fault only, Palpatine offered him to protect the last thing he had left, its not his fault he destroyed it himself consumed by anger... I don't really blame him for ending up unhinged.

D. Duran whoops 😂
Weren't.There!...Why weren't you there?"
That will always be one of my all time favorite lines in any movie ever. So full of heartache and betrayal.
Blobbert Mcblob FUCK MAN STRONG WORDS...
Blobbert Mcblob j
Just they way she said "it's my nature" pissed me off.

He's a vilain, but such a deep character...
I suppose many of them also have deeper meaning despite appearing either insignificant or like Jack, just funny. I’ve seen explanations behind specific scenes & it paints a different light on the characters. POTC is so underrated
This music did justice to his character. Sounds so full of misery, regret, self perdition, corruption, greed and anger.

Hmmmmm, it’s funny though, I think that Pirates of Caribbean it won’t be the same without Johnny Depp 😔.
Like the Fast & Furious without Paul Walker 🙏.
He has the deepest meaning from them all. Yet was the most powerful taking two movies to defeat
This piece of music is so well composed. The rhythm actually sounds like a heartbeat.
“I AM THE SEA”
- Captain Davy Jones
I AM the Senate!
-Sheeve Palpatine 19 BBY
Nooooooo! -Darth Vader
I am Ironman - Tony Stark
I am inevitable
-Thanos
I am the Half-blood Prince
- Severes Snape
The music box at the start is calmness and love with happyness.
Then it turns into sadness, loss and deppression,
after which it become Anger and Regret,
swiftly followed blame and hatered,
and then at its turns into Rage and destruction,
Then at the end, all that is left is Sorrow and tainted memories of what once was.
The beginning of the song where the music box plays isnt happy, I'd say its more of a sad and lonely beginning following onto rage and then hatred, at the end betrayal and sorrow.
What I got from it was a mystical vibe at the start, then power throughout the rest
I always thought the sound of the music box at the beginning was sad, but nostalgic sounding. A reminder of what was but now is gone.

One broken promise.
That’s all it took.
One broken promise to turn the man into a monster.
**davy Jones accent**
And when, we could finally be together again,
*you weren’t there*
It was a bit more than that
Well, it was a pretty big promise. He performed an extraordinary service for her to see him for one measly day, and when she didn't show up, he stopped performing his service.
Of course, he was still punished by being made monstrous, even though it's technically the other party (Calypso) that didn't fulfill her end of the deal. :/
Quite literally.
And it took one "Do It." to turn a man to the dark side.
"life is cruel! Why should the after life be any different?"
-Davy Jones. A man who loved too much and did the only thing he could to make the heart ache stop
What is that mean, my english is bad, sorry.

Thot Patrol what?

Even after 13 years, this song still a legend
"My heart will always belong to you"
if that was so true.....
Davy Jones
Joker
Darth Vader
Thanos
These villains are loved by fans more than heroes
Severous snape
@@vikrampanwa5290 he wasn't a villain though,
@@TJ-lh7xg but the roll is like a villan till last of the movie
@@TJ-lh7xg he have a rool like a villan i mean illusinious roll charcter
Meh I liked iron man more than thanos
Davy Jones is so crazy relatable, it's so hard for me to see him as a villain
Ikr I hate it when I turn into an immortal octopus man because I made a deal with a god with a ship that tends to jump out of the water and body slam other ships.
Nathaniel Acosta, Same so annoying
@@monarch1649 Bro, you don't know the half of it.
Unfortunate that for this universe, these moral codes, he is.
I tell you the truth mate, in pirate of the caribbean there is only one villain, it's captain Jack Sparrow and no once sees that, well perhaps Charlotte!
I love Davy Jone's character arc. He was such a massive contribution to one of the few sets of films that just stay in your heart. The amount of understanding we have with this character is incredible because we can understand his character and where he was coming from. I love you, Davy Jones, and I guess we all always will.
(0:00-1:14)
There once was a man who found a woman
He loved her with all his heart.
She promised to always be with him.
And he promised to always love her.
(1:14-2:34)
But she betrayed him...
His heart became cold.
And he was filled with rage.
Hatred flowed through his veins like a black poison
The earth cracked and the sea boiled,
He became a monster blinded with fury.
(2:35-end)
But deep inside.
He remembered his promise, to always love her.
and in spite of everything...
He still did...
Cool
Lines 1-4 (0:00-1:14)
Lines 5-10 (1:14-2:34)
Lines 11-14 (2:35-end)
That's how I wrote the poem out to follow with the song.
Nice poem
Hunter Moore
thanks
Right in the feels TT^TT
You can feel the pain running through his cursed veins, getting more and more angry, putting his soul into this song.. and then.. just.... regret his biggest mistake...
I just love it.
More than well said
Absolutely. Its why I love this piece.
I love the constant 8th note-1/4 note beat that I've always interpreted to be his "Heartbeat" throughout the song.
It's truly heartbreaking.
I also portrayed that 1/4 note as his "heartbeat".
Hans Zimmer is truly a genius!!! XD
This is such a beautiful yet sad piece...
this is a truly love song
Yes.
Ah.... Hans Zimmer the Beethoven of our time.
And Ramin Djawadi the Mozart?
I'd like to introduce you to a man named John Williams.
Hans Zimmer 100%
John Williams 99.9999%
Ramon Djawadi 99.998%
@@vevotheif lol Williams is above zimmer by far
Mohamad Dwiky Dharmawan I thought about that a lot, and I still think Hans Zimmer is still .0001% better.
The older one gets, the more he understands the pain and suffering of Davy Jones. They honestly nailed him to the teeth. I'd really like to see a prequel, or hell, even the sequel they teased at the end of the last movie
Who else wants a davy jones prequel?
The entire fanbase
I’ll take a Davy Jones ANYTHING at this point.
Bruh they should make a movie of Davy Jones origins and how he gained the oceanic look
As much as I enjoyed davy jones in dead man's chest and at world's end, I would have to say no for 2 reasons.
1. They would probably ruin his character just like they ruined Jack's character in dead men tell no tales.
2. It would ruin the mystery behind him.
That'll be just like star wars
"Do you fear death? Do you fear darkness, the abyss?" That question will be echoing throughout our lives.
I wish I could give him a hug. He is hurting so bad, he LITERALLY hid his heart away. He is an understandeble villain.
He'd probably stab you in the stomach if you tried
He would stab you
This is now, when I grown up, that I finally understand why is Davy Jones's story so beautiful. Just like that music.
1:45 "If they will not allow me to have love, then the will feel my PAIN!"
What is this quote from?
The song, listen to the song at 1:45 and you shall hear that quote
I must be going deaf because I can't hear it lol
I know, i can barely hear it over the music.
It's not in the song that's a quote from an old book I read about pirates that my uncle had. It was at the part in the book when the crew killed the captains family so the captain goes mad and kills the whole crew.
When I saw Davy Jones, it looked like what happened if Cthulhu decided to stop being a living God and be a pirate
alexiaNBC Gotta change it up every now and then, you know?
Though his cracken brother didint
That was the same thing that i thought when i sall him.
alexiaNBC But he doesn't sleep all the time?.....
alexiaNBC True it does look like that.
God damn this makes me want to watch ALL of the movies again
At least the first three.
Cmon the 4th was pretty good too
@@ninehills42 yes i like the 4 i dont understand why they hate it
You can tell the difference between 0:01 and 2:36 like the love hasn't died out, but he's been heavily corrupted. Nice little detail
Once I had a heart and it was true
It fled from me and went to you
Please take care as I have done
For now you have two and I have none
damn you poet. I really liked that
Me too
Exact definition of Davy Jones
+Matthew Stephens nice riddle
+Matthew Stephens it is now my status, loved it. It defines davy jones very well, and sadly it also defines me somehow
"Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate, leads to suffering."
Oops. Wrong movie.
Dig-Daeg good point brother
Aplies here to tho...
True but true
"Buffy, this is all about fear. It's understandable, but you can't let it control you. "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to anger." No wait, hold on. "Fear leads to hate. Hate leads to the dark side." Hold on, no, umm, ""First you get the women, then you get the money, then you..." Okay, can we forget that?"
Xander Harris, Buffy S4
It works, though.
Do you, fear, death?
GamePlayXtreme I'm not afraid of anything. except losing my best friend
Ryan Larner Do you fear, the black abyss?
No
I lost many things. But I will not lose my friend. He helped me see through lies. He taught me how to stay calm no matter what.
GamePlayXtreme what do YOU fear? I don't even fear death for a second do you know why? I'm already dead inside
We feel your pain, Davy Jones.
I like how the description just says “cool”
Well it’s true.
They probably thought that description meant describing the video
Cool
This song is such a masterpiece, it brought back a lot of memories from my childhood and ohmygod that feeling
My Heart.
0:36
Even though you broke My Heart,
we shall never be apart.
You lied and cheated, stole and killed,
my love burns ever still...
1:38
You were never there for me!
Ten years I served you faithfully!
You stole My Heart, betrayed my plea,
and left me to the sea!
2:00
Tell me, boy, do you fear death?
Are you choking on your breath?
Will you see, My Heart, isn't free
Can someone rescue ME!
2:36
Love, is what you failed to do,
always did I think of you
When you finally come to try,
My Heart will never die.
Ramseas119 Nice poem, fits the music >> 👍
Alexandre Gionet It's meant to be lyrics. That's why it fits so well.
Hey Ramseas119, Could I use this for a lyric version of this? I don't want to do it without your permission.

I like the other lyrics better. Sorry. Nice try though
This character deserves a movie for his story.
The sunset is red
The sea is blue
My heart bled
Because I gave it to you
