You are so mature to say 'peduncle' like 15 times in a row and not even giggle once I love that word so much
🤭🤭🤭
Hahahah I was thinking the same, like I am a 12 year old in the body of a 39 year old woman that still finds farts funny 😂
@@Lourdes-nc3spI mean as someone a little more that half your age I 100% agree with you even burps 😅
I love the word so much lol
If you learn what is going on with these Hoya dying off vines, please report back. 🙏 I brought several home last week and a few leaves have yellowed and died. I'm not completely surprised because moving them home probably shocks them a bit. I hope they will be okay. I'm loving this genus. ❤️✨🌿
You are doing an AMAZING job Fern with your plants and keeping your new house in order……Don’t get down on yourself if you don’t reach goals you’ve set. Take things one day at a time Fern! We aren’t going anywhere ❤❤❤
Thank you so much for this 🥺💚
The wines of your hoya look like my ones that had root rot. Maybe you should check up the roots to prevent more rot or start all over with this plant before it spreads or you loose more.
same happened to some of mine hoya
Maybe check the roots on the Hoya? Could be that it is focusing all the energy into blooms and the rest of the plant is dying
Your plant chores videos always motivate me to take care of my own collection! I've currently been struggling to keep up with my plants so thank you so much for this!💖
Waking up and seeing your videos are my daily motivation to do some plant chores and reflect on life. You're awesome! Greetings from MN ❤
Same here and also from chilly 🥶 Minnesota 😊
Hope you and your plants are staying warm in this cold snap!
@@Blueeyedguy1988 👋🏻
@@louise3953 it's very cold ❄️
Duluth MN feels like -22°F. Yesterday was -39°F. It was just a couple weeks ago and we had green grass!
My plants start to suffer if it gets below 68°F in my house. Take care, planty friends, in colder weather!
such a nice blue, purple nail colour! im in love❤
A great way to kept heat in your house is infrared heaters!! I use them in my plant room :)
I never thought of those. Thats a great idea.
I love these videos! Realistic plant care, doing what you can when you can!
Hope you had a great weekend!
& I hope that your neighbours aren't giving you any more trouble! 😅
love the thumbnail it's giving planty lofi girl
We always enjoy you, don’t apologise for your brain😂you have a wonderful personality
Oh I've missed watching your videos! I have so much catching up to do. October 29, 2023 I lost my home, 2 pets and everything I owned in a trailer fire. I've been homeless for the past 2 months (heading into a 3rd). But I've found temporary shelter and was gifted a phone. Slowly getting myself pulled back together. Hopefully by the end of February I'll have a home again and can rebuild my shattered life. But all baby steps. Your videos bring me so much joy and for a little while I can relax and forget. Thank you so much Fern for all your hard work and sharing your journey with us. Much love my friend. ❤
I am so, so sorry to hear this 😢 what a horrendous thing to go through, and to lose your pets too 💔 my heart is broken for you. Sending you all my love, I hope you’re able to rebuild everything asap 💚
I think you should check the roots for that particular Hoya.same thing happened one of my favorite Hoya. When I checked the roots I found that most of those roots are very dried from inside. But i don’t know way.
You are adulting better than lots of us girl. Your home care and plant care are goals for me. Thanks for doing what you do
I live in Alberta and we were recently the coldest place on earth. Specifically my city. With the wind we were sitting at -56!!
Isn’t it crazy? Had to move plants off of the windowsills as it was soooooo cold. I live half way between Edmonton and Jasper.
@@hwilson8572I am near Red Deer. Apparently we haven't been this cold in 70 years. Our backdoor froze and didn't want to close 😅
Goood morning Fern. I’m always glad to wake up and see a video from you. You are always more upbeat than you realize.
My city is going through a cold snap right now... -30 to -35 without windchill for the past week. I've been staying inside and doing plant chores, this has been inspiring for me to keep it up! I've been mega lazy because the seasonal depression and burn out has been rough this year but been trying to find ways to alleviate the struggles.
If you decide to do a video on grow lights, please provide cost options, being that Soltec Grow Lights (for example) are expensive.
Fern, you are so well organised. Watering and preparing soil mix for spring potting. I'm impressed. I found a bag if pumice in my hardware store recently, and have been using that in DIY potting mix. It seems to work well. When it comes to watering in winter, I like not having to water as much. With the cold weather, letting soil dry out between waterings, means not having to water for weeks or sometimes months. Hugs for Olive!!! 💖
you almost look like the lofi study girl on your thumbnail except it’s plant chores version 😂

Thank you Fern! I Look so forward to seeing you all the time
OMG that anthurium pallidiflorum is stunning 👀 that has been on my wishlist forever. This spring I need to get one. I use the dyna gro foliage pro and my plants love it. They have grown so fast and huge
Lately I take a hot bath in the morning watching your videos. Love your videos about everything 😊 Have a lovely day, Fern!
Wow that is the longest leaf 🌿 I've ever seen. 😮 So pretty 😊
thank you!! I am very impressed by it too 😮
A long plant chore video to watch on a Monday 🙌 thanks Fern! 🥰
I think that hoya is stressed, so its going to bloom, similar happened to one of my friends hoyas, it had about 30 blooming peduncles, when she checked roots, it was gone
Some of my hoyas do the same thing. When I have checked the roots they are usually rotten. I restart the stems and do over. My Walliniana is kinda tempermental. It had a slow start from a cutting and never seems entirely happy.
Been a little down because I’ve been such a horrible plant mom. Came here for some inspo and to see the lovely plant 😊😊
Thank you for the long video fern! Watching this while cooking lunch 😊
You made my day. Thanks for your video!!!
In cold season I always water with warm water. Tend to do it in the morning or at daytime. I tried not to and there were negative results on the leaves.
Yay 🙌🏽 an hour of planty things 🥰
I use the foliage pro serious and I love the simplicity of them as do our plants ❤
Good video; thanks for sharing Fern!
Omg I get so excited when I see a new video of you🥰
I love your video. You seem like such a fun and kind person. I also love how long these videos so i can get a lot of stuff done while watching them 💚💚💚
Love to watch your videos! First thing on my watch list everytime one comes out ❤ You should do more chatty repots!
I bin using the molly's mix for 1 1/2 year and all my plant love it
I’m in SW Washington so I feel your pain with this cold spell! We’ve been snowed in for 3 days and are preparing for the ice storm that’s on its way. All my window-dwelling plants are taking refuge on our dining table. Hope you and yours stay safe and warm ❤
Same thing happened to my hoya princess. Started shriveling so I took a bunch of cuttings then put the mother plant in water and it rehydrated! It's now in pon and happy
I had not heard of edema and browning of leaves before! So glad you did not need to chop up the amydrium silver. I had very bushy hoya sunrise and hoya krnohnia super silver hanging in my south facing windows suddenly have issues with certain vines dying off as well. In addition to repotting, them to bigger pots, I trellised them and that fixed the issues.
That’s cool! I love cricket! And I didn’t know about the learning paths
I use the superthrive foliage pro. Love it. It used to be dynagro and was changed to superthrive the foliage pro didn’t change but the name did.
I love watching your videos and doing plant chores along with you. Your videos are lovely. I can't wait to watch it :)
thank you so much!! hope you enjoy this one ☺
That plant is perfect in that baby pot 🌿♥️🤘🏼💫
Fern you are doing amazing sweetie!!! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
thank you 🥺🌿🥰
I love Foliage Pro. Been using it for two years now. I highly recommend it! I do supplement with TPS Cal-Mag and TPS Silica, but those additions are newer. Foliage pro works great alone and so simple!
We had -40 c here in Edmonton for a few days then warmed up to -25 c so far so good for my plants. Very dry in the house tho with the heat running pretty much non stop :) I think we are finally on the other side of this cold snap.
Brrr 🥶 we’ve been in the teens over night with highs in the upper teens. We had freezing rsi or sleet and some snow on top of it so walking my dog out to do his business is harder. But just as we get up to freezing and have sun, they are expecting freezing rain Tuesday and into Wednesday. Back into the teens. This is never going away. It was nice see a Fern video. Takes my mind after the freezing weather.
hi fern! love this type of video ❤ you inspired me to try out begonias and now i’m obsessed!
oh my gosh, that is so lovely to hear! begonias are the BEST 🙌
Hi Fern, I would transfer the variegated Christmas cactus cuttings with the tiny roots in water now if they don’t perk up. I put some cuttings straight into water and they rooted very well for me.
Hi Fern! Yes, I have the same problem with my Hoya Walliana U-152. Right now it is one vine rooting in water. It is in my 10 goals for 2024 to size up. Maybe your Hoya foliage spray will help. I’m using it! Thanks for the tip. 😊
Hope you are surviving the freezing cold weather, I live in WA state -2 this morning!!!
I live in WA as well! I have been having to water my plants a lot more because of the furnace going so much. But thankfully my plants are toasty with my Barrina grow lights. Though keeping the chickens’ water thawed is a struggle 😂
Hi. In regards to the Hoyas, that happens to me when I wait to long to water them.
Inspiring 🙂 Greetings from Germany !
I have a rather large hoya sp. aff burtonaie that I put outside for the summer. It loved it out there. I watered it a lot outside. I brought it back inside in the Fall and it started dropping leaves like crazy which it had never done before. The soil stayed heavy for a long time so I was afraid to water it anymore. I just left it alone and hoped for the best. After nearly 4 months, it seems like it is finally recovering. I'm thinking it didn't enjoy that transition.
The plant wrapped mirror in the back is sooooo cool
Thank you 😊🌿
I remove a lot of leaves when I initially move plants indoors in the fall. I will just take the most damaged leaves. I do this to reduce water and light requirements
I’d recommend water for Christmas cactus’s for sure! I remember it was the first plant I ever propagated and I watched a video on what method was best for CC. Water won the experiment. My experience was also very successful.
I've heard water works great!! that's awesome to hear :)
I would check the roots of the Hoya. Probably got some dry rot. I’ve had some Hoyas do that when I forget to water
I love your videos so much, You're the reason I got my amydrium silver and I love it so much!
awe thank you so so much for watching! amydrium silver are so gorgeous 🥰
And by the way, I love your plants 🥰
Thank you so much 😊🌿
Как у вас уютно❤
For your fertilizer chat and thinking about switching over to foliage-pro, I would say yes! It's been the fert that I use for the past 6+ months and it has been great, it is keeping my plants active and growing in the winter, and I havent dealt with any burning issues. would recommend!
Oh that’s great to hear, thanks for commenting :)
I’m having the same problem with one of my Hoya! Dried up vines, yet still putting at growth on it. I think mine needs to be repotted / is root bound so that’s likely the source of my problem. But I was freaking out yesterday when I noticed so much wilting. 😢
Have a look at your local hydroponic store for your soil additives like perlite. You can buy it in bulk bags for a quarter of the price.
For the hoya I would guess underwatering and Hoyas bloom from stress so a dry period can encourage blooms. That could be why there are so many peduncles. If the plant is root bound it also won't necessarily be taking in all the water requires.
Hard to troubleshoot from a video though 😅
I had to do the same thing with half my hanging hoya queen. I took some cuttings to try to fill her back out in the spring. Ugh. This part of winter indoors is so hard on plants.
awe, yeah some of mine are sure taking a hit this winter :( can't wait for spring!
There could be a pocket of air in the pot and that’s why only the one vine was drying out
I use dyno gro folage pro and its been great for me and the bottle lasts forever!! ❤
Thanks for taking us along on your chores! Be careful using Miracle Gro perlite in your Pinguiculas-it contains fertilizer. 💚
The difference in temperature from B.C. Kootenays and the island is insane 🥶 we're sitting at -30 to -40 this week. I will take that as my cue to move back to the coast😂.
Fingers crossed that both of our thompsonii bloom this year 👏🏻🤞🏻
Yessss 😍🤞
@@wildfern okay so update - a friend who I gave cuttings to had hers bloom today and we now know it has white flowers 😂 I’m only a little salty that mine still hasn’t bloomed yet lol
I gave up using Orchid Mist spraying on my Hoyas i noticed it gives me pests and rot. So i just use Orchid Fertiliser when i water Hoya’s. Or use Cacti and Succulents Fertiliser. Since they are semi succulents too. This winter getting yellow leaves on my Hoyas i don’t know why and dropped off. This year definitely just going to have low maintenance plants since i be starting to travel again to see my families back home in Hong Kong. So don’t want to come home to dying plants i be gone for 2 weeks. But they should be fine with watering them the day before i leave until i get back majority of my plants.
I need a big scoop to mix my soil mix together. The container I out them in is deep.
I use the foliage pro one. I have used it for over a year. No complaints
great to hear - thanks!!
Love seeing a long video from you pop up! My guess with the hoya would be rot, its sus that its one half of the pot too!
My Hoya Bella did that cruising down hill I kept cutting the dead branches off. Now all that’s left seems to be naked. I may just throw it away and start over
Yes you said you were playing catch up with your watering.
Espoma makes a nice perlite…..good size!
Hi Fern. Your collection is goal. For your problem Hoya, I think she suffered from dry rot at some point. I would move it to a smaller pot now that there are less roots in the pot and do an H2O2 water mix flush as well.
I have varigated vanilla orchid growing in a fish tank, some in semi hydro, some in regular soil. I've been growing orchids for a long time and I don't think vanilla orchids are picky about their soil as long as watering and lighting is right.
43:14 love your hair!!
My hoyas used to do this 🤦🏽♀️ I'm thinking it was because of my inconsistent watering maybe, whoops, I'm also trying to get better. I ended up chopping up the healthy parts, re rooted them in perlite and now I've put them all in pon 😊 and they are loving it (I'm around 10 months in), who knew!! Maybe hoyas like me after all 😅 I was ready to give up. I'm also switching more plants to pon, minus my cacti and succulents 🪴🌵
😮😮😮my face @ the Krimson Queen peduncle!!!🩷🩷🩷🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼✨✨✨
I love your vids
Hoya walliniana is known for being picky. My only guess is that it wants high heat and light. Nothing below 70 degrees. It might need a grow light too in the winter.
From unsolicited plant talks:
“This hoya does not do well in cold conditions, so be sure to keep in a greenhouse or other temperature controlled space.”
Rousseau aroid food works great for my plants
A cactus and succulent grower just recommended the ProMix HP to me. It’s supposed to be good for propagating those too.
Oh great to know! It seems that a lot of people use it and recommend it :) 🤞
Foliage pro is a great allrounder. I’ve used it for years 🙂 it does have a good amount of magnesium and calcium so you shouldn’t need to supplement anything else unless you wanna experiment. Some plants like a boost of calmag and it can help them size up faster. A little tip - when you foliar feed hoya, spray the undersides of the leaves too. stomata on Hoya are on the underside of the leaf rather than on the top. But generally, roots are leaps and bounds more efficient when it comes to the uptake of nutrients than stomata, so foliar feeding isn’t very beneficial at all ☺️
Awesome, thanks for commenting!! 🙌
I hope you figure out what's going on with your Hoya 152. She's so cute 🥰
Thank you 🥺 the rest of it is doing really well so far!
First of all, that blue nail polish is killer!! Love it! And also really love your place mats on your kitchen table. In terms of ordering amendments, I also have the same struggles here in Alberta. So I am very much looking forward to seeing your bulk orchid and perlite. I also buy the dreaded $13 orchid bark bags here. My collection is smaller than yours. I also go through it quickly so I can imagine how quick a small bag would last for you. I Definitely need a more cost effective orchid bulk option.
Awe thank you 🥺💙 and yeah honestly these small amendment bags were bleeding me dry 😂 I ended up ordering from Optimize Organics, not sure what the shipping would look like to you. Shipping was pricey for me, but after calculating everything out, I still saved a ton of money.
Omg I just checked them out and their prices are soooo good! I’m so surprised! I will have to put in an order for sure!
YES LONG VIDEOS🎉🌱
🙌🙌
Love your P.E.I. Shirt❤️ much love from Nova Scotia🥰🇨🇦
I use the same Superthrive Foilage Pro, with a bit of Schultz house plant liquid stuff, that’s it, my plants are doing ok😬
Awe thanks! One of my favourite shirts haha 😃
im super lucky to live in new zealand where most tree fern fibre and sphagnum moss is from !! much cheaper here
It's -38 here North/East Alberta
Hello Fern, it looks like you should still repot that Hoya, she looks like she might be root bound. Hope the best for her.❤
