Love all of your videos. If my wife would give me more slack. 😆 🤣 😂 I would be out there as much as you. You are so lucky. Happy fishing 🎣🎣🎣I'm like you. I drive 4 to 5 hours to hike in and fish and get home at 12 midnight 🙃. Me and my friend John. We call them Torpedo runs.
"Torpedo runs" is a pretty accurate description for what my bros and I used to do coming up from SoCal for over a couple of decades. Now that I live up North again, not much has changed! I just go more often!
I try to catch and release 3 maybe 5 then maybe keep a couple. That way the lakes can never be fished out. Big brookies generally means population low or medium.
Those fish were the perfect size for some frying pan action. The fishing in that lake was solid. I want to get back up there and check out the inlet area if it's reachable without a serious struggle.
Things started a little slow! I was concerned at the lack of interest those first fish I tried to catch showed in my offering. Once I started moving along the shore and making adjustments it all clicked. It was so hard to stop fishing!
Those are rocky boot company. Isolated and waterproof. The waterproofing doesn't last if you hike a ton in them like I do. Red Head hunting boots are solid. a little pricy but worth it. I have a lot of info across my channel playlists that might help you if you are just starting out.
It's still a little sketchy with the left hand and my right hand sucks at managing the line! I plan to get some more practice both fly fishing and spin fishing this week and probably the next. I haven't even tried using my spinning rod left handed. It could be real ugly! My right arm should be good in a couple of weeks. Hopefully!
That lake was a real treat. I never heard of it until I saw on the map at the trailhead earlier that morning! I had to be careful because my search and rescue email I give to my brother telling him where I'll likely be found if I'm overdue only included the inlet creek to South Lake and Long Lake!
I don't think they are in there but I just heard of that lake at the trailhead when I was looking at the map so I couldn't say. I plan to go after golden trout at least once this month.
They were rising. I just like to fish nymphs in alpine lakes. I have clips for a bunch of lakes in that area on my backcountry fishing playlist if you haven't seen many of them and are interested. I have the hikes for the lakes on my hiking and backpacking playlist. It sounds like you are in for a good time. I hope you light it up.
thank you so much. appreciate the videos and can't wait to fish up there. supposedly lake 11393 is a legendary. I am used to only getting 4-7" brookies on the western sierras so heres to hoping! @@wildernesswithamani1027
Amazing color in the high country lake fish. Plus a ton of fun to tear it up fishing catching that many fish in a short amount of time. I really enjoy following your adventures!
I've done a few of them. A couple on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist and a few on my 'variety playlist' where I cook fish shortly after fishing. They haven't gotten any more interest than my straight fishing clips. It's probably because cooking really isn't my thing.
How’s the right elbow feeling try the Voltaren cream and eventually get a cortisone shot I got one in the Mesa College days in my shoulder and it hasn’t hurt since
I'm going to let it play out. It snaps back fast with the rehab regiment I got going. I cut open a couple of large freezer jell packs, poured them into gallon zip locks, and flattened them out. I wrap those frozen around my arm and it makes a frozen sleeve. Works wonders with some massage. If I use my left arm more for a couple of weeks I am expecting full strength soon. I should have started trying to fish with my left arm weeks ago to rest it more. Oh well, going forward I know what to do. If I can get the left arm casting down it will also help me be more effective fishing because no matter where bushes or obstructions are I should be able to get a better casting angle if I can use both arms as needed. I still need a lot of practice and I still haven't tried it with my spinning rod. This week is going to be all left handed again.
Next week I'm headed to Lake Tahoe with my girlfriend to stay at a cabin for 3 days. We will be on the north side of the lake more. I know you've fished there before, any tips? Never been there before
This time of year, I recommend getting out there early. I have a lot of Tahoe clips on my 'lakes and reservoirs' playlist where I sometimes discuss what I'm doing to catch fish. I use my basic reservoir rig up which can be found on my 'trout fishing tips playlist' with the exception that I up my mono to 8lb and then just use a 6lb leader. Hooks and bait info can also be found on my 'trout fishing tips' playlist. Good luck.
Dude, those trees on the little island out there in the middle of the lake reminds me of this lake in Red Dead Redemption 2. It has rainbow 🌈 trout in the lake. By the looks of it, your catching plenty on the fly rod.
Another good video my friend. My disability won't let me walk to these lakes any longer. I enjoy watching your enthusiasm and fun, I experienced for many years. Hey, I'm surprised to see a lot of snow still lingering on the peaks and valleys. Thank you for your videos!!!! God Bless. Tim
Right on. As long as I am able to I'll try to bring these experiences to you. Yeah, this is well above 10K feet so there is still snow. I plan to go even higher in a couple of weeks so we'll just have to wait and see what snow is still lingering up there. Glad you enjoy my videos because I have grown to love making them.
yea you definitely want to do a slow strip on those nymphs. real nymphs hatch near shore and slowly swim to the surface so they are keyed in on the slow, twitchy movement. Damselfly nymphs and gold ribbed hares ears work well up there too
My best action was dropping in within 3 feet of the cruising brookies and getting them to react with an impulse strike. Sometimes, the slow deeper strips is all that works though. If it's slow, like it was when I started out, I just start varying my retrieve until something starts working. Fun time out there. I want to get back up there. Maybe find the inlet in back.
I enjoy all of your videos but the Alpine Lake fishing videos are really super! Thank you🙏
Right on. It's alpine lake fishing season for me so there's going to be a lot of it. At least that's the plan!

@@wildernesswithamani1027 that's awesome. I tried to get my wife to move. But she is happy were she is.

Nice video Amani!
Floating line or sinking ?
Cheers!
Floating line. It's pretty much what I always use. I can do a lot of different things with it. Often, It serves as my strike indicator!
@@wildernesswithamani1027 Thanks Amani!
Another great video. This one has me excited like a dog watching you cook some hamburgers.

Nice work bud! Impressive with that left hand casting/operation of the fly set up

What a gorgeous lake :) All your hard work is worth moments like this.

Epic Caddyshack reference and nice Thumbnail
Are there golden trout up there
You coughed so many fish got that lake wired

There's no golden trout in there.
@@richfisherman2664 All I saw were brookies.
headed up there in a few weeks, most luck on Nymphs or were they hitting dry flys?

It was so hard to leave! If I went there first, it's the only place I would have fished on this day! I'll be back for more.
You should do a catch and cook out there on the spot

Tons of mosquitos everywhere I go this year. Bathing in deet. Nice brookies up there. Hope you had fun.

It was hot action once I figured out what I had to do. I'm not going to lie, I had my doubts when I struggled to get fish to hit when I first started.
Really brought out your inner caveman,😂😂😂
It often surfaces when I'm fishing! I can't help it! It just happens!
