OMG, harissa and smoked paprika are two of my faves so this recipe is perfect. The dusting of cilantro (or coriander on the other side of the pond) is just the right embellishment. I love these eggs!!
This recipe looks absolutely delicious. I like Brandi's idea of having the tomatoes done ahead of time and just reheating up some of the tomato mixture the morning of while the coffee is brewing. YUM!
Rocking that recipe on Saturday morning for sure! I've even bought butter croissants to serve on the side as we are on a boat. Thank you for all the effort you put in to make seemingly complex meals good and simple in a most entertaining way 🍻
This is a Tunisian dish called Ojja and you can make it in different ways (with some mushrooms, some seafood like shrimps or calamari...) We have delicious food in Tunisia, too bad it isn't widely known. Enjoy
try using beans instead of chickpeas, it's an old family favorite in our house, my grandma makes it for years now.. (yes I'm middle eastern) this is served mostly as a breakfast-brunch or dinner, but I'm guilty of making it lentils free and with chicken as lunch.. it's just great. also you don't have to use harisa, if you use smoked paprika and rosemary/thyme it's a dish called Shakahuka :)
i remember meeting you a few years ago at the viking festival in clontarf! i bought your book and it had this recipe and i still use it all the time :D
WoW !!! That s definitely happening in my kitchen this weekend ....with the cold weather outside it will be perfect and heart warming ... Merci !!! E xx
It reminds me of "Huevos Rancheros", which I just had for the very first time and it was sooooo tasty! This looks so good as well - I should stop watching food videos right before bedtime!:D
I just tried the recipie and omg, i love it! :D However I can't recommend using as much harissa as in the recipe. (It was a little too hot for me:) I would add the tablespoons or teaspoons one at a time to adapt the tomato sauce to one's "spice-level" :)
Thats a really tasty dish! We do have something similar in greece. If you'd like to try something different, use the sauce from gennaros meatball sub recipe instead of the tomatos...I just use the sauce with an extra pinch of oregano and no other spices ;)
can u cook tunisian couscous please ?? I'm tunisian and I've never seen any cook do it. they only cook marrocan one which is soo different from tunisian one
In Germany we call it Koriander. Btw nice dish. Definetly going to try this one. Maybe with less Harissa, cause the one I can buy in Germany is quite hot.
Who knows where to get Harisa? I love spicy things, and tomatoes and eggs are like heaven to me. I'll have to try that "crack into a ladle" trick the next time I try to cook eggs in soup or other liquids, or even just poach them and have them with salt and pepper.Would you consider making Eggs Florentine with Avocado and Tomatoes? I had that dish at my local diner and fell in love with it at first bite.
This is a great recipe, I'm certainly going to try it... but your printed recipe and the video have some inconsistencies. For instance, the printed one doesn't mention anything about chick peas and I was wondering whether those would be pre-cooked/ canned.... ?
Hi Donal! This looks delicious! But I have one question instead of harissa paste, what else could I use? Just wanted to know if it could be substituted with anything else :3
I don't know if this is North American, but in Canada, when it is fresh it is usually called cilantro, but when it is dried it is usually called corriander. Weird.
It's Coriander! .. another good watch Donal. was going to tag you but for some reason on the RUclips app I can't seem to do it on my phone. Anyways this looked delicious 😊

+sayounara1232 yeah it's confusing :)
Yeah. In India we always say boot for the back of your car, and I was so confused when an American said "trunk"

Max Cooper excuse me. We say dikki.
@@ohgodno1655 yes!! 😎 dikki it is.
Cilantro is the spanish word for coriander.
OMG, harissa and smoked paprika are two of my faves so this recipe is perfect. The dusting of cilantro (or coriander on the other side of the pond) is just the right embellishment. I love these eggs!!

+Andrea Salinas thank you Andrea!
in Mexico we do the same dish except for that chili paste. we use tomato sauce/paste, cilantro, onions, and the eggs.
what is it called?
"Torta de huevo con salsa" the eggs are usually beaten to form an omelette and it's served with refried beans on the side.

+Alan Levine it shouldn't be too hard to find :)
I made a similar one but I put some ginger in it too, made it taste slightly curry ish

You could try adding some Tajin spice from Mexico - it's fantastic stuff ;-)
He looks so much like Eric Forman from that 70s Show ^^. This dish looks so good !!

This is a great recipe, I'm certainly going to try it... but your printed recipe and the video have some inconsistencies. For instance, the printed one doesn't mention anything about chick peas and I was wondering whether those would be pre-cooked/ canned.... ?
