    Fonseca 17 years old...he has super potential on his shots, a lot of energy and also very good hands, no points to defend, probably top 100 or 80 at the end of the year, this guy is so good

    João Fonseca has everything it takes to be in the top 10 in a few years. I watched the game and saw that he has the mind of a champion. He didn't get upset because he lost the first set and turned the game around easily. What impressed me most about him is the determined look of someone who wants to go far. Good luck to him.

    Stunned Since I watched first round match of Fonseca in Rio. This kid got potential, omg. Brave game style and such a power already. Reminds me a bit of alcaraz when he was 17. No real pressure, all these matches are a gift in these days for him. Lets see how he develops, but for sure big big top 10 potential

    Trying to figure out why a 16-yo ranked outside the top 1000 is getting wild cards into the main draw of Masters events. A bagel and a breadstick is to be expected; kid is 0-3 in Challenger events and hasn't exactly set the ITF on fire either.

      This is the problem with 🎾 as a business. IMG and many other “players” have their finger on the scales to swing things their way. Corruption like this has broken the sport. Needs a total makeover. Great young players from developing nations get no support. Radecanu, Osaka other “darlings” of the media get lucrative sponsorships and wild cards when they should be playing challenger level tournaments like everyone else

      I dunno about that, he got destroyed. As other people are saying in the comments he shouldn't even be playing in a M1000, only reason he got a WC is because he is managed by the company that run the Madrid Open

    No shame in that performance by Fonseca...some flashes of brilliance. Still, Nadal looked solid here and a nice primer for the FO. Man, would be pretty amazing if he could peak in June in France..
