One of the SADDEST Moments in TV History Ever!

Thanks!
God Bless Dinah Shore who clearly loved Bert Reynolds ... who shamelessly loved himself more than he loved her!
Thank you so very much for the Super Chat!
No one has ever said a bad word about Dinah Shore she was absolutely beloved in Hollywood for being so kind
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
She comes across as a very nice lady
Yep… older women are used to stepping aside
Dinah Did Good
Why is it the saddest moment?
Ok - Dinah is called upon to sing a song and she has nothing prepared because she didn't know she was going to be asked to sing. Jack Lemmon just steps through the crowd and sits down at the piano to accompany her - all at the spur of the moment. That's talent - that's REAL talent.
That’s what there was back then… talent. Not like the absolute mess we have with folks now. I can’t think of one person that could do that today. They all have egos and riders and requirements and need hours to rehearse.
Television was ENTERTAINING then. So much real talent
That's integrity.
💯
When movie Star’s were really star’s
Dinah was, without a doubt, one of the classiest women to have ever lived. We were all blessed by her time here.
How blest were we breaks my heart this video though arr true ❤ right there
I agree what happened to that caliber of women
It's a shame more people don't know about Dinah Shore. She was amazingly graceful and classy.
When Dinah passed away Burt said “Today the world lost an Angel”, and he was right!!!
But never forget she was so FUNNY and upbeat, Lonely elderly women loved and looked forward to her show. Not the ideal advertising demographic as if she cared.
@@poetcomic1There may have been some elderly lonely women. AND elderly lonely men who loved her show, but there was every demographic. My parents watched her show on Sunday nights, so I did too. I figured out the Burt Reynolds
romance and knew Dinah would eventually get hurt. She probably did too but it stung when it happened. He never had a biological child. I think he and Pamela Anderson adopted a baby boy, but their relationship died. Burt died
Bankrupt. Have to get it when you can.
He was a jerk.
@@susanmoorhead8762 He invested a fortune in Po' Folks Restaurants (a Cracker Barrel typeplace.. I used to go to one in St. Louis. In a few years the business crashed. He could of bought any land in Las Vegas at the edge of town without thinking and have been immensely wealthy.
@@poetcomic1 That is truly very sad. Timing is everything. I don’t know who advised him in his investments. It sad. He really was one if the good ones.
How she did that without breaking down is beyond me. She even added some humor to it.
Some may weep in the throes of pain....she chose to laugh...no bitter tears from this Queen of hearts, she chose to sing and to love.
Why did they split up and what is everyone sad about?
@@mona2242 The video said, Burt wanted children, and she wasn't of child bearing years for him.
Seems like he should have just let that go, because you can see they both still love each other.
Yeah tough call. They could have adopted.

I was a true fan of Jack Lemon, and always thought him to be a gifted comedic actor, as well as an exceptional dramatic actor, but until I watched this video, I never knew he was also an accomplished pianist. He was indeed a super talent.
And a damned good friend!
Never knew Lemmon was a great piano player
@Victorious395,
SUPER TALENT, you bet yah! I always enjoyed him too. In movies, interviews, late night TV shows, like The Tonight Show, (especially when Johnny Carson was the host). They could spar off each other pretty darn good. If I knew Jack Lemon was in a movie,---I knew it would be a GOOD one!👍👍👍👍💕💕💕💕
Jack Lemmon was a super talented man. How I loved him in the Apartments with Shirley MacLaine.
There are many entertainers who are well known for one successful talent. But they are multitalented. Jack Lemmon is certainly one of those who doesn’t brag for attention. Seems that this who brag the most are those who are insecure.
Sitting here crying like a baby. The younger generation has no idea what we have lost with all of these wonderful performances. She was an angel 😇 and I know that she and Burt are together again.
@@Broadtolove p
Totally agree!!!! I so appreciated tv more back then now!!!!
Celerities had so much class and respect for one another!!!!
So glad I grew up back then and had the opportunity to enjoy what tv was supposed to be….pure fun….enjoyment!!❤️📺❤️
Me too🥲
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
Imagine Brittany or Christina asking Eminem to sing another song them? :;😅
I'm 74 years old and lived through this golden age of television, but this clip brought real tears to my eyes... for the wonder of that period of our history, and for the beauty of Dinah and Burt's love for eachother.
@Blue Eyes…I’m 76 and this brought tears.
@@CissyBrazil I'm 72 and my eyes seem to be getting blurry a bit!!
Beautiful performance by a beautiful lady ❤
@@linjicakonikon7666 what was it then?
I'm 87 and really rolled in tears for me! Oh LOVE!
Growing up, we never missed an episode of her show. She was truly a CLASS ACT! No need for skimpy see-through clothing, nasty talk or gestures, HER TALENT SHOWED THROUGH WITHOUT DEPENDING ON THAT TRASH!!! We were upset when her show was no longer on air. We all knew that she and Burt Reynolds were truly in love, the true lasting and respectful kind of love.
When I was a kid, my family always watched her show. It was sponsored by Chevrolet. At the end,of every show, Dinah would belt out, “See the USA in your Chevrolet….”
You’re right. Take the high road Dinah.
@@janetflier6192 yes, I remember: when she signed off, after singing she blew the audience a gigantic kiss flinging her hand way out (mwah!) -- it was so demonstrative that especially at my age I usually blew one back to her that same way which usually brought a smile or laugh from my dad😚 I also remember hearing burt say in an interview after she had passed away that he was upset than she had kept from him just how serious her illness actually was; and I also remember being surprised when I heard that she had passed because I didn't know that she was sick -- she looked so healthy when I last saw her !
You haven't a clue as to what their relationship was like. You didn't know them. You need to read Sally Field's book on him. Wow. People are clueless.

Kind of a jerk move on his part. She handled that well.
I watched the original show and I’m watching it now, Dinah is one true, classy and magnificent performer! I don’t see any heartbreak, rather I see 2 people who loved each other and still care. I thought what Burt did was awesome, he was thanking her for being an important part of his life and success. And even if Dinah wasn’t prepared, she sure managed in a hurry to sing a beautiful song for them both. It was very touching.
Very intensely moving!!! That is what True Love is!!!♥️
If he really loved her he would not have married another because he wanted kids. For me it was an awful betrayal.
@@justbystander770 I don't think he was willing to be monogamous for the rest of his life, tbh. His career was just starting to peak and I think he knew he wouldn't be able to pull that off. I think he loved her...but a guy's a guy...
Every one of them are true performers, not just "celebrities" or "stars" without talent. They are all gifted. Even Jack Lemon volunteered his talents without second guessing, just "here I am. I'll pitch in for Dinah and Burt". These people were friends. Real friends.
I couldn't agree more! It was not sad but touching. I'd also like to echo the sentiment expressed elsewhere that with all that talent in the room - to see them just throw something together on the spur of the moment like that left me in awe. We, humans, may be capable of some truly dire and dark history, but we are also incredibly selfless, altruistic, and giving too. Thank you for sharing this tender moment.
What a great, pure and real moment. I’d forgotten that the late great Jack Lemmon could play the piano!
Those old film stars who cut
their teeth in Vaudeville; as
well as those who were
long-time products of the
film studios' system had
real talent!
They were multi-faceted
performers. And they knew
how to act in public!
(Not like the flash-in-the-pan
celebrity "stars" we see now.)
@@here_we_go_again2571 Exactly. However, its the issue that Hollywood's economic model has changed so much to not have the patience to nurture and instruct those in the long term anymore, much like the music industry. They only want a "quick fix" and don't want to invest in careers anymore.
@@thegood9
For sure!
Jack Lemmon could've even played Dinah.
I think this is the first time I've seen Jack Lemmon play piano. So impressive to hear him improvise with her.
I've forgotten how great Dinah Shore's voice was. She was an all-around great entertainer to watch.
She showed a lot of class. Excellent.
I remember when Dinah passed, Burt was deep in grief. I don't think we knew how important she had been to him. We thought Sally Fields was the love of his life, but now I think it truly was Dinah Shore!
I think he loved them both..just differently....Dinah was good for him.
I met him once. Waaaay back when he was shooting a movie in Old Town SW Portland, Oregon. I thought he was a jerk back then but now that I’m old, I believe he was just protected-or I was super ugly. One of the two 🤣
@margaretwallace15
I' ve noticed in life, more than once, people can mourn harder when they haven' t treated a person very well, and never apologized for that. Then the person passes away. I saw it happen in my own family. I had an adult family member who had butted heads frequently with my dad. After my dad' s passing he couldn' t compose him self the day of the funeral, cried uncontrollably like a child "prior" to the funeral. Now that was hard to watch. When I went up to comfort him, I said, "All is forgiven". He needed to be assured by hearing that. That depth of mourning can possibly be a different kind of pain, as well. Perhaps a person was close to the deceased---or, perhaps they were NOT!
I then can see that being more self-guilt, than having been so close to the deceased. This is just what I' ve observed. Now there certainly can be cases where the person is just so deep in mourning. Like say a young child mourning the loss of their parent, or a child who' s lost their sibling. Or a child being very close to a grandparent, than loosing them. I can see it more w/children, than adults.
As in life,---there are times people just do
not appreciate others enough while they are living, than realize it too late after they pass! I can see where this could be the case w/Burt Reynolds!! "Regrets" & "Guilt".
@@L.M.O. I am divorced (thank god) and have four kids with my Xhusband…fast forward about 15 years and had a relationship with a younger man…fast forward again and after a few years of a great relationship, he got a little older too and realized he wanted kids. It was less heartbreaking knowing I didn’t want kids then. I hope Dinah was a little bit less heartbroken. But then, seeing him go to voluptuous Loni was assumably a bit bitter.
This is very touching!!!💓💔
Totally unplanned, unscripted and sung with deep love and dignity! Indeed a class act!
Yes Dinah had class not him
This is what a LEGEND looks like!❤❤❤

Thanks for another great video Dave!
I'm 54 and blessed to have grown up with the classics as you. I look back and see the morals of the stories I didnt know I was comprehending.
Back when the stars seemed like part of your family it brings a tear to my eyes knowing it will never be like that again 😢
Dinah was such a beautiful and talented woman.
@@finch45lear When women had class. Check out my comment above in the comments section about that! After all I was born South of the South, and I understand Southerners. I was born in Havana,Cuba in 1956.
I’m 61 and it seems like one dies, at least, one a week.
I can’t believe she was 65 here. She’s gorgeous and her singing is beyond.
I was a cameraman for 30 years and these are the stars that I was around in the 80's and 90's. Jack Lemmon on the piano was terrific. You have a wonderful piece of history. She a nice affair as Sad as you are right, she loved him madly. ♥ 😢
I think Burt has been sad rest of his life after.

Imagine how Dinah spoke to Burt in private... Burt made his own choice but I never would have turned down Dinah! I'd have been a fool for her. A class act and beautiful woman in many ways.
I saw him on a talk show years later. He was drunk and in a bad mood. He interrupted other guests that came out after him. I remember him talking to himself and saying, " I should have married Dinah." This was after she had passed away, and his other marital problems.
If I am correct he married Loni Anderson and they adopted a boy named him Quinton and got divorced .
Then he was with a waitress
Sad how he messed up his life .
Not many stars today could throw down an impromptu performance like that. Both her AND Jack! Incredible.
I had no idea Jack was such a wonderful pianist!
There are plenty but none do it as well as the old skool folks.
Jack blew me away too...😳...
You sound like you need to get out to see some shows there pal... Lots of stars out there that are amazing!
Back when celebrities were funny, entertaining and genuine.
Yes!!!
Dinah, showed nothing but class. She started a little rattled, but Jack Lemmon’s little jokes really calmed her down a bit. Then, being held by Burt so she could sing just to him made this a truly moving moment. 😊
I almost felt I was eavesdropping on a personal conversation that was meant to be private! Hard to explain......but just how I felt as it seemed private and personal in nature!
She adored him , they both loved each other , but wasn’t meant to be….. why is the question ….. doesn’t matter, it’s way in the past and I would like to believe they’re together forever.

Such a beautiful and real moment. He once said in an interview his biggest regret was not staying with her.
He said the same exact thing about Sally Field.
I thought he said that about Sally Field
Yeah I heard something similar about SF too.
It was about Sally not Dinah.
I may be younger than most here, I was born in '75, but I was fortunate enough to spend my developing years watching television and movies with my parents and my grandmother who would always share how much they adored this person or that one, and I grew up with so much awareness and fondness of their generation. Burt Reynolds was such a high-caliber individual and truly a standout. I can't pick a favorite performance of his. I was too young to remember this moment and understand the gravity of the situation, so seeing this video really filled in gaps of my knowledge regarding Burt and Dinah. I knew enough, however, to recognize how beautiful a moment this was. Seeing someone so sincerely honor someone they love who gave them so much makes me think of those who have touched my life so profoundly but I never got the chance to truly show them the gratitude that is forever in my heart and mind.
Dinah sang so beautifully, it was one of those moments that while it's happening, you lose sight of everything else and although the moment has your full attention, it doesn't impact with you until it's over. So many of the commenters here mentioned the talent of the people in those times, to which I reply: Absolutely! It's like stars were stars, individuals whose talents brilliantly shined, rather than being a marketable, manufactured persona.
Oh, and who doesn't love Jack Lemmon?!
To the Boomers and the generation before them: Thank you for showing us how it's done.
You are wise beyond your years. You cannot look forward, unless you acknowledge and appreciate those that went before us. I am older now, but I am so glad that I live through the years of these wonderful artists of all genres

I myself am 50 years old now and I find it a shame that I never knew at the time how truly special and wonderful these moments of TV were at the time.
When I recently watched the tribute to Carol Burnett for her 90th bday I thought what a great time in history to have grown up! I’m in my 60s.
I am 53 and agree with you
I'm 55 was was lucky enough to be introduced to old Hollywood and followed it up until their time. I consider myself very lucky!
It was kind of soothing & slower paced & a Nice Distraction …but still “ Hollywood” BS! The best thing we’re all the amazing TV sitcoms from the mid 60s through the 70s ! All the daily comedic TV episodic …. For kids & Teenagers & young adults! Mel Brooks & Others wrote them ! I was raised by all those great TV characters! The BH Billies etc👍👍👍 Truly funny & Smart! Best comedic Writing!
For us kids who grew up watching the greats, we were truly blessed. Seems everyone had class and they were such a joy to watch.
I so agree❤
Absolutely!
When you look at that audience and then compare to today's celebrities, it's like they come from different planets. Today's stars are just amoral, trashy, narcissists...
You can see the love just flowing out of both of them. Very moving.
That was the Golden age of television.
That will never be again
It is very poignant. Dinah got a point across with her choice of words. Burt wrecked a few hearts in his day. Clearly she was one of them. Jack Lemmon on the keys was damn inpressive. Dinah was a class act!
So sweet and yet so poignant. Two class acts, all the way. They don't do real moments like this anymore. Thanks Dave.
They obviously truly loved each other very much…their body language, the eye contact, trying to hold back tears. Bittersweet is an understatement 😢
There may have been love but she sure didn't want to marry him. I do wonder however, over the years what or how her thoughts, changed seeing how Burt and Lonnie's marriage descended into nothing more than a sham. I bet in his darkest days he was wishing for Dinah something, awful.
The epitome of class and talent, Ms. Shore!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💛
I think my soul just left my body. She meant every word of that. Excruciating.
What a special moment in time. Both are no longer with us as well as many in that room. I was a teen back then, but a huge Burt fan. Dinah walked up there without any warm up and shared her beautiful voice. It's times like this when I really miss old Hollywood. All the big stars were there that night. God bless them all.
I’m 57 right now, & never understood how fortunate I was to see the class/caliber of everyone in this video. When I was a young man, I simply dismissed this as being stupid. It is now, that I realize that I was blessed to have seen some of the Greatest Moments on television & I’m Truly Grateful for this!!! ❤️
Well said!
The look on her face singing to him tells you everything
oh its known that he loved her
Beautiful, and human ... not even a hint of auto-tune, and no need for it whatsoever! Sung from the heart! And such a glorious heart and soul, indeed!
I remember their relationship from the very beginning as I saw them on Dinah's great TV talk show. On one episode she opened the show in her stage kitchen and announced that she was going to share a great recipe. [She was an acknowledged fantastic chef and was the social queen of the Hollywood/Beverly Hills entertainment community.]
She began to put the ingredients of the recipe together. When she heard a kitchen cabinet door open she turned around to see what was going on behind her. That door fully opened to see Burt Reynolds crumpled up in a rather small top shelf cabinet. He started to unfold while doing his big Burt laugh. She kept looking at him as he freed himself from the cabinet while looking at her. The electricity between the two of them was crackling and their eyes were now locked on each other. You could see the steam increase between them.
On that show they stumbled with words and tried to talk about the recipe but it was obvious that preparing the food was not going to happen. They walked off the stage together and everyone knew they weren't coming back. It was a beautiful reaction to each other!
They became a couple immediately and attended and held parties and occasions together.
Burt always said that Dinah was a beautiful lady who helped him become adept in social settings and that she was the person who gave him CLASS. She knew everyone in the biz and her connections and natural charm helped him become a better actor, social host, conversationist, and adult man.
Their love always remained both deep and electrifying but Burt's desire to have a child of his own became an overarching requirement. He broke up with Dinah and that absolutely shattered her heart. As her health began declining, Burt and Loni became a married couple.
Dinah's vigorous, athletic life never fully returned. She did not find another love.
As it turned out, Loni was unable to have another child so the couple adopted a son. Burt's old football injuries pain combined with new stunt-related injuries pain and made his life miserable. He did marry again in Florida.
In his autobiography Burt wrote that he probably made a wrong decision in leaving Dinah.
Well I think he definitely made the wrong decision he could have just as easily adopted with Dinah 🤦🏻♀️

@@lynnetrathen4587 I think Burt fell victim to making a big life decision based on only one criteria - a married couple must have and care for a baby the traditional way.
Dinah was older than Burt and Loni and some people thought that she would not be up to raising a child when he or she was a teenager. But Dinah was a top flight athlete in tennis and a proponent of good nutrition. It could have been that she didn't want to lead the life of a mom (worried about a teenager, not being as free to do what SHE wanted to do) in her 60's and beyond.

I am disabled myself so my LONG responses take a while to type in and often result in increased pain.
A VERY few life situations of others have affected me more than others and Burt and Dinah's love story and break up was one of them.
I don't know if anyone would have been happier if different decisions were made. One needs to make the best decision with the information that they have at the time. And then not keep questioning that decision as life goes on.
I hope you have a wonderful life!!
I heard him say Goldie was the one who got away…tho he could’ve said ‘may’ have been the one. I guess he could’ve been joking, but then if it was in fact Sally field, how come SHE said he made that up?! She wasn’t too keen on the honesty of that one.
Who knows? And who really cares, other than it sure didn’t look like there was anything ‘sad’ about this- rather a couple past lovers, who were then great friends!

Wow. Thanks Dave. That made me feel sad, happy and nostalgic all at once. I forgot I use to watch Dinah as a kid… as soon as she started singing it was like I was a kid again watching her show. Wonderful memories.

I no longer watch star shows, because of what you mention.
I don't know about Miss Dinah Shore, but pretty much from the moment Jack Lemmon began the piano introduction, Burt Reynolds was having a hard time holding back tears. His body language was all about pain. Even his words at the beginning of the clip, when he worked up to asking Dinah to sing, gave it away. He obviously still loved her deeply and missed her terribly.
She was telling him it was okay . . .
She’d always be there for him . . .
Love him until the day she died . . .
And told the world, too.
You rarely see the authenticity and vulnerability of people anymore. There is always a facade. This was wonderful!
She was such a bright light. How privileged we were to witness that era of entertainment.
I didn't realize Jack Lemmon was such a phenomenal piano player until saw him in Grumpy Old Men, when he played part of a song he'd written for the movie. However, hearing him play on this show made me even more in awe of his musical talent. As for Burt Reynolds loving Dinah Shore, but wanting to be with someone who could still bare his children, that sounds pretty selfish to me. I was with the love of my life for 17 years. He was 12 years younger than I was. I was just going through menopause, & I realized I couldn't give him any children, so I begged him to leave me & find someone who could give him children. He told me he didn't want children; he wanted to be with me. There are so many children out there that need parents to care for them - orphaned children or children from abusive families. Unfortunately, my soul mate died from an accidental gunshot & we didn't get the chance to adopt. If Burt really loved Dinah, they could have made the lives of lucky children much better. Such a shame & so sad.
Didn’t Burt and Loni adopt a son. Burt never had biological children of his own. I think Loni was too vain to be pregnant.
@@reneebergeron3004 I loved Loni on WKRP, and & I loved Burt in every movie he was ever in. But they were actors, so they could mask their inner feeling. I knew Burt was vein, but I didn't know he was THAT bad. Sounded like he & Loni deserved each other.🙄
Burt married Loni Anderson! Who was not able to give him a biological child. They adopted a son! Had a terrible marriage and divorced!
People like this will never grace our planet again. Those of us old enough to have lived through this era are so lucky. They just don't make 'em like this any more. Thanks for posting this Dave
That was beautiful and very touching. I didn’t know there was a romance between Burt and Dinah, but I can absolutely see the love in her eyes and the pain as well.
Same here.
why pain,
@@zobeyadiaz7476,
I’m thinking it’s when her show ended. Maybe that’s why all of the celebrities are there.
@@debbieflaherty1975 Thank you.
There Was.
There are some celebrities (not too many) that you've never a bad word spoken about and Dinah Shore is one of those people. I think Burt Reynolds nailed it when he spoke of her class. She was, by all accounts, a very kind and genuine person. Nice assist from Jack Lemmon on the keys. Sounded like a pro. Who knew.
Those were the days. Pure class and it was clear they loved one another..
I always thought Dinah Shore was a joke when I was young. BOY WAS I WRONG! What a beautiful voice. And - OUCH! - what a heartbreaking moment. It was also great to see some of the greats that attended the party.
*The heart wants what the heart wants ...*
Dinah Shore was a loving, sincere, classy woman! ...... Burt was lucky to have been
allowed into her life. May both Burt and Dianah Rest in Peace!
I remember that Heart quote from Woody Allen.
@@snowdog03
The quote is older than Woody Allen.
I heard it back in the 1940's.
Dinah's singing never impressed me but the charisma and intense feeling between Dinah and Burt was what was so moving to me. They were both about to cry and the sadness in their behavior, their aura was overwhelming.
Her singing and her voice were sublime
Crazy to think Dinah was 64 years old in this clip. So beautiful and still a talented singer.
I always loved Burt Reynolds, and I heard that Dinah Shore really gave him his start, in the early 1970's, when they had a long term romance. Per the internet, she was about 20 years older than him ( wow, she looked good !), a very classy lady, a great talent.
Dinah showed her heart with a sad smile. She managed to sing just the right song in a classy way.
Dinah Shore, what a class act and what a fabulous voice.
My father met Dinah at a dinner party way back when. He said she was gracious, kind, and very funny. ❤
The way he spoke of her, in his book.. she was truly a remarkable woman
Dinah Shore was a exceptional lady. She worked hard to hone her talent and was successful. She had polio at 18 months of age that left with one foot damaged. She worked relentlessly to get that foot flexible so she could walk. A very good person and much loved by those who knew her. Burt Reynolds was really lucky to have been loved by this woman.
I think the whole world thought Burt Reynolds could do no better, ever, than Dinah Shore. What a beautiful, wonderful, and loving woman she seemed to be.
And lo and behold he married Lonnie Anderson and ADOPtED a baby! He couldn't adopt with Dinah. He was a jerk.
He went down hill….WAAAAYYYY downhill in the years that followed. The gold digger Loni sucked all the life & money💸 out of him - & he never got a biological child out of a younger woman anyway. Betcha he regretted losing Dinah forever…
@@davisholman8149 I think he regretted losing Sally the most. He said he should have married her. And, yea, Loni was a gold digger imo.
@@cindykauffman8294 , and Sally has said she didn't love Burt and wouldn't have married him. If he was smart, he would have stayed with Dinah.
@@Rocketjay12 She says that NOW. She's such a witch imo. He put her on the map with Smokey and the Bandit. (Not that she wouldn't have been successful on her own because she's so talented. But that movie broke things wide open for both of them...)
Imo, she's revising history because I was around back then. She even said, at one point, that she was "proud" to be seen on Burt's arm. EVERYONE wanted Burt Reynolds. He was the hottest thing going...
If she never loved him she sure gave a great impression of it. Or, maybe she was just using him? (So easy to say things once someone's gone. I'm not impressed 🤷.... Burt said nothing but kind things about her...)
I think Dinah has accepted things as they are, and that’s what this song is about.
In the 70’s and 80’s all of our stars had real talent.
Such a bittersweet moment.. I used to watch Dinah’s show every week with my parents. I always loved how she sang - See The USA in Your Chevrolet - and all her lovely gowns. This was still a time when Entertainers has class and didn’t have to do outrageous or vile things to stay relevant they had Talent and Class.
It was sad when she got publicly dumped for a younger woman. RIP Dinah ..you are missed.
I actually remember this show! My mom loved them both and was excited to watch it! I am 61 now and I feel so fortunate to have known true talent and been truly entertained by shows like these❤
@@Broadtolove ^^^God help us, folks. We have romance scammers ‘harvesting’ on nostalgia channels now!😜Be careful, Ladies. These pieces of work are probably 20 year olds in a smelly room in Nigeria.
For unrehearsed performances, this is a winner! Her performance was great and I’ve never seen Jack Lemon playing piano; his accompaniment was pretty spot on to play a tune in the singer’s key of choice as he’s sitting down in front of a nationwide audience… Talent!
Incredible piano - on da spot - playing by Jack Lemmon! I never knew he could play! And with all that tension surrounding the moment! Incredible performance for Dinah as well! Bravo!
I loved Burt Reynolds. Funny, sexy, charismatic beyond words. A real talent. You're absolutely right. This was obviously a very poignant moment for them both. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
U got that right!
I worked for Mr. Reynolds and let me assure you he was everything you wrote and more. He was generous and one of the loveliest human beings I've encountered. It was an honor to know him.
You are right, Burt was sexy! Lots of sexy men in those times. There are no more sexy men out there in today's times. But Burt exuded it with his fabulous personality!
Back when entertainers could stand and deliver! Amazing!
You could, not only see it but you could feel the smouldering love they still had for each other!
Those were the days my friends, we thought they will never End. Beautiful memories. We did not have much but we were happy. RIP all those that brought so much fun , love and glamor in the past. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😢
Classy and touching not sad. Big time respect for her.
That was very heartfelt. Sometimes, the best things on TV are those things that are not planned. She was a class act. So sad, they are all gone now.
There was a moment very much like this when Sonny and Cher were separate guests on David Letterman’s Late Night show. Dave asked them if they would sing and amazingly, they did. They sang “I Got You Babe” and it was so poignant and bittersweet. Love that remains, but cannot be.
Unreal, beautiful…. Burt was about to cry. You can see his jaw clench, then move as he grind his teeth to keep the tears back. A fabulous moment in Hollywood. Loved it ! !
Thanks for posting this, Dave… You’re a class act!
Seeing this reminded me of when, the year before in 1980, Dinah Shore did her show live from the Burt Reynolds Dinner Theatre in Jupiter, Florida, where I lived. I was 13 years old at the time, and I went with my family to the taping of the show. Dinah's main guest was Burt Reynolds, but also on the show were Lee Majors, Carol Burnett, Rita Coolidge, and Paul Williams... Talk about a line-up of guests!
What a class act. Real talent on display with Jack Lemon and Dinah Shore. Nowadays all we got is social media influencers for crappy entertainment.
Those was the glory years. She knew things had to change. She truly was a lovely lady and talented.
I forgot how much I loved her singing and her show. This is sad but beautiful. It is bittersweet
What a fabulous performance from Jack and Dinah. What a voice!
@Festus I like what you did there 👏🏼
Timeless and classy, I remember hearing my mother say to my Godmother, I think they still love each other.
I see Nothing but Love and Compassion between 2 people. Nothing Sad at All.
It was beautifully heartbreaking because he was asking for forgiveness and she said I forgive you💖
Made me cry. Dinah was a legend and so was he. ♥️🌹
Such a different age. So much class and grace. And talent!
