I'm starting to love this channel because it is absolutely foolish of big channels to overhype updates and just totally dismiss older phones, and then they're the ones to (lie) about Android slowing over time, or not lasting.
I feel like Samsung shot themselves on the foot here by making the S20 FE way too good. On release it made former flagships obsolete, and even 2 years later it's making current midrange options harder to recommend.
Just bought A54 5G, been using S20FE for 2 years. S20FE is better in performance in every single aspect, but I had no choice as S20FE screen got shattered and it wasn't worth fixing it. Anyhow, no need to ditch S20FE if you've got one.

So I've decided on the Sony xperia 1 v ( there's multiple models so make sure its this one ) HAS AN SD SLOT and is vastly superior to the s2o fe in almost everything.
I had an S20 FE for two years. I'm not a heavy user, but the phone started giving me issues that a hard reset would not help (freezing, not receiving all text messages, etc.). I had no choice but to replace it. I picked the A54 because it also has a MicroSD card slot. Once I put the phone in a Sup Unicorn Beetle case (like my old phone), they look exactly the same, except for a very, very small size difference. The only real difference I noticed between the two phones is the S20 FE seems to do a better job with flash pictures, but I can deal with it. I've taken some similar outside and inside shots and the differences are so small that few would notice. The A54 does better and some pictures and the S20 FE does better on some others. It's a wash. A 3x zoom on the S20 FE does look better because it has optical zoom, but 2x zoom looks better on the A54. The macro camera I've futzed with on the A54. You can take some good close-ups with it, but you must be within 3 - 5 cm. Unless you like taking pictures of spiders and cockroaches, I don't feel it will be much use. Taking close-ups of stuff like food with its standard camera produces sharp pictures, but you may need to try more than once. As far as the latest Android and UI updates, the S20 FE will not be getting the latest, but only security updates. The A54 will be getting the latest Android version and UI updates for at least three or four years. That's important. Even though the S20 FE might be better in some departments, it's gradually going to get obsolete without the full updates.
Considering the fact that your s20fe is defective... everything you said about the camera could be due to your unit being defective... the a54 may not be able to match a normal s20fe unit
I've got an S20 FE 5G myself and a family member got an A54 and I got to use it for about 2 weeks and the stuff you have mentioned lines up with my experience. I want to mention a few things I can add. On the A54 the camera tends to overshoot the exposure so stuff can look blown out (and some other reviews I have checked also noted that) and its particularly a problem on the Night Mode as it exposes the photo a bit too long, but can be somewhat aided by locking exposure and turning it a bit down. As for detail on main cam pictures, the S20 FE wins there but it has a tendency to have softer edges (more a problem on close up shots less than a meter or so) which I have found the A54 performs better on that part. I've tried comparing screen on time just watching youtube and some occasional web searches the S20 FE can get me at best 6hrs and the A54 is closer to 8hrs. The S20 FE 5G performs way better for sure with its Snapdragon 865, but in my area where its typically 32C all year round and very humid it tends to overheat reaching 60~70C where it throttles. The A54 with its Exynos 1380 that performs quite a bit less tends to stay cooler even out in the sun. Hottest I've probably ever gotten the A54 is for sure less than 55C and that's being used while charging. The speakers part is one I can't exactly agree with since its not just better bass, the A54 is a bit louder than the S20 FE. Lastly holding the phones, the S20 FE is a bit less wide than the A54 while being a bit taller. It's related to their display aspect ratios (20:9 on S20 FE vs 19.5:9 on A54) and resolutions (1080x2400 on S20 FE vs 1080x2340 on A54), but at the end of the day they're still both nice AMOLED screens.
Dude how do you get your phone up to 70°C? That temperature can cause your skin to burn you know. Hottest a phone throttles is generally around the 50°C mark. Don't just say anything.
@@mihirojha4475 35C ambient temp at 75% humidity, along with high cpu load (3 or 4 apps active at a time), active gps due to using maps, max screen brightness, and at time a video call don't really mix while out on the sun. 70C is peak and its closer to 65C in my observations using the phone sensors through AIDA64. And at that point it throttles hard and closes any multi window apps.
I think honestly that exynos is not even that bad in benchmarks considering it's faster in single core than a 855 plus and on par in multi with a 855 I just think the 855 runs games alot better it's more optimized

Unfortunately, I don't think we'll see headphone jack back on top tier smartphones from now on. Although, I rarely use them nowadays tbh. I have a USB-C to 3.5mm headphone jack and never used it to plug a headphone, only a mic to record my videos. Even on my laptop, I'm starting to use my TWS more and more. The FE also came with a USB-C headphone, which I use a lot. The real problem to me is lack of micro SD support to sell phones with more storage.
No matter how old a flagship phone is it's always better than new midrange phones. The fact that the a54 is keeping up with the 20fe is just because it's new. After about 2 months of use it will start slowing down.

S20FE hardware is definitely better, A54 is newer with a different screen aspect ratio that’s more similar to Apple, but for me on Amazon the S20FE is almost half the cost of the A54 buying renewed. Personally it makes no sense for me to spend more for worse hardware.

I just bought a second hand s20FE for $150 USD, I can’t buy an A54 for anywhere close to that price, there’s lots of things to factor to make your own personal decision.
The a54 doesn't look attractive but this day i went to mall to window shop haha ,then i went to phone shop i handed this a54 and it was pretty good. The size the feel.

I think the audio track u use for testing audio doesn't fit so well for testing bass and surrounding sounds , but it's good for testing how loud is volume, so I would suggest u using one more track
A friend of mine had the s20fe And i told her what a legendary phone that is Last year, she, outta nowhere, came with a new phone. The a54 And i didnt tell her but wtf? Fast forward to early 2024, shes back to using her s20fe bc its judt better

What i need is Just space a good battery and a readable Screen. I mean i Love my p6p but IT has his flaws i.dont even use 120hz....

The problem with Exynos generally is they consume more power for similar performance as their Qualcomm counterpart

S10 series is the last greatest Samsung ever made. Until they bring the headphone jack back on the flagships it's not the same.

S20 Ultra all the way. MicroSD slot still and a much better phone than the A54, and cheaper than the S21 Ultra which has no SD slot.
S21 ultra for sure, s20 ultra has many issues in its camera that the s21 fixes, and yes while you lose the SD I doubt you'll need it.

Might be the difference in chipset I guess. A71 had the SD720 while this has Exynos 1380.... don't know when will Samsung get their Exynos right.

The screen brightness is why I don't use my pixel 6a as much over the A54. But I still prefer the size of the pixel 6a
