yes it is better but you can bend them with heath alone even with a hair dryer which sometimes i do also use my sodering iron but you have to becarefull cause it has so much heat that burns the wood if you do not letg it of and have to keep moving this tool has enough heath to bend it without burning.

I bougth the Electric Bender 2 weeks ago, i used to bend the planks with a can heated by a flame. 🙂

Almost all wood can be bent. The best ones are certanly the soft ones like lime wood

Yes, otherwise you’ll just burn the wood fibres.
