Happy 4th of July!
This is one my favorite songs that I've ever done. It carries a message that we're all constantly trying to learn. It's very close to me in many ways, and I was very flattered by all the feedback it received when it was first released. So, enjoy this re-recorded version with improved sound quality!

2013- finds this song, cries over the concept of Trixie not getting the chance for redemtion
2016- Trixie has returned and, through friendship, is redeemed (Sort of) So I come back and listen for the nostalgia. Cry again, but bittersweet happy tears.
2020- It's been a little over a year now, since the series ended, and I couldn't help myself. This song helped my entry into bronydom take root and become meaningful to me, and after so much, nearly a decade, after growing as a person and experiencing the best and the worst that life has to offer, there's still that part of me that looks back with fondness at the stepping stones that carried me through life to where I am now.
I'm not sure where I'm going from here, but I've got a million memories now of six (Nine?) Little ponies and a dragon, who I often looked to for a smile when I needed it most, and who taught me more about the world than my parents did.
2020, and I still cry, but the tears fall down around a brilliant smile and a look of determination I didn't have before, to do more and be better.
Here's to another decade of life lessons, yet to come, now that we've bid our farewells to those special little ponies.

This song used to bring me to tears and it still strikes me every time I hear it. I used to live a life full of lies. Lies everywhere for everything just so I can look better or feel better. Lies to hide the lies. Lies to convince myself that I wasn't lying. The glass shattered and my eyes opened up to what was happening all around me with a lot of tear-filled eyes looking at me. It was then that I realized that it was time to start telling the truth. I found the original recording of this song right around that time. ...and as best as I can to this day, I just tell the truth. I'm not proud of everything that I do, but I don't lie to pretend that I do right all the time. And more important, when I struggle to do the right thing, I ask somebody I trust to help me stay on the right path.
4everfreebrony, thank you for writing this song about my favorite character and about an important life lesson. You're going to stay up there as part of a very strong memory that came as a harsh life lesson, on the better side of it.

Just rediscovered this song after like 5 years. It was my favorite song back then, and it's still beautiful even now.

Ever listened to a song so much that you almost stop listening to it because it's melded *so much* into your brain that your thoughts can play it perfectly, to such an extent that it's like it literally downloaded into your brain?
Well, the original is one of the songs that has set itself into my head, because of that I (And I think I speak for many others when I say this) noticed the changes so easily, so it's easy to hear the difference in quality.
It's awesome to hear one of my favorite pony songs re-done.

My brain does that to almost every song I've listened a few times. Though mostly in pieces and usually only for a week (I have too many of them)
I do the same sort of thing with the lyrics to almost every song i hear, i could hear a song just once (most of the time and only if i enjoy the song) and then not hear it again for a month and i will be able to sing right along with is like as if i had heard it 1000 times... it is actually kind of scary sometimes because often times i will be able to predict lyrics and sing along almost perfectly with a song i have never heard before!! My family thinks i am psychic where as i think i am just really good at predicting lyrics based of the topic of the song and the previous lines in the song, which would lead you to believe that i would also be good at writing lyrics but that is incorrect, in fact i am rubbish at writing lyrics because i over think things!
this HAS to be one of his best pieces it has such emotion that it sticks with you i honestly adore this song everything about it is just flawless

This is beautiful.
I know several others have already said similar stories, but I feel as though I should say mine. I initially found this song when i was going through some very hard times, and i kept wondering to myself what is happening, what is going wrong and try as hard as I could I didn't understand. Then I came across this song, and I just found myself latching onto it, it made me cry but at the same time - I felt better y'know?
Well, coming past that time and looking back - I found that in many ways, ways that I hadn't even considered at the time that I had been causing my own issues, lies I told ages ago coming back to haunt me, I felt like running away and not telling anyone where I had decided to go. My hardship and pain all caused by my own choices, my own actions, coming back and haunting me - I tried to blame others but now thinking on it, When i found this song, I started to subconsciously tell myself it was my own fault, and i needed to own up and stand up, take responsibility and realize that I myself is far from perfect, and that all those "Stones" I had thrown at others, eventually would be thrown back at me.
So, I say - Thank you, for more then just this song, there are other songs that have helped me through other hardships and I have come to respect and even rely on this channel because I know, regardless of what happens, I can always find solace here.

A timeless classic
It's strange : Iv'e listened House of Glass time and again since it's been out and this re-record sounded quite similar.
So I listened to both version simultaneously and I still couldn't make a difference. If you say the sound quality has been improved, it means two things :
- I really need to check my headphone eventually ^-^
- You first record was close to perfect. This song is amazing and I could never forget it. Thank you so much Garrison for all you've done.
You should be able to tell in the drums, mainly. The vocals have been redone, as well as the piano, and the clarity of the mix.

This has always been one of my favorite songs of yours, and hearing it again brought out a lot of emotions in me. You have become one of my favorite musicians, period, regardless of being pony-related or not, specifically because of songs like this that have such a _human_ element to them. These are the kinds of songs that I am proud to have joined the fandom for.
That's how I associate a lot of fandom songs too. So many apply to more than just ponies. =^ u ^=
