It’s crazy to think this came out when i was 14. As someone who is 22 now I’ll never forget this song. It was my real first introduction to metal and all the cool stuff this fandom created! I’ll never forget these days :)
This was and still is the best part of the brony community. The enormous variety of what MLP can be. From heart-wrenching tragedies, the fantastic epics, to cute slice-of-life, to shameless clop and so forth. It's why even though other shows/games have come and gone with me MLP is the one thing I haven't been able to get away from for the full 7 years.
Last year, for a school project, I was required to choose any album that I like to present to people and say why everybody needs to listen to it. I chose Moonrise over every other album I've ever heard. I got 100% on it and hooked half the class on your music (even people that hate MLP) and symphonic metal. Don't stop what you're doing.
+RattPitt I don't care for MLP at all, but this is absolutely beautifully done. I love the symphonic metal scene, and go out of my way to find any and all good bands/artists in the genre when I can. I can honestly say that this is significantly more well done than a large majority of the random stuff out there, and on par with some of my favorite bands in the genre. Even the lyrics, which I find silly at times, are particularly well written. I don't care a huge amount for the story, but I can certainly appreciate someone that knows how to write.
Andrew Halverson And then there's Screamo... I can't tell you how many times I've been accused of listening to that noise whilst wearing an Iron Maiden shirt. Sweet Celestia, all I want to say to them is, "NO!! NO!! NO!! NO!! NO!!" Screamo will never in one googolplex years hold a candle to Metal.
I must say, this opera is simply candy to me. Such talent to orchestrate such an epic shouldn't be limited to RUclips. I would love to experience this in the theatre.
FoobyDude I always got it. Everybody with an IQ above 3 got it. HalfTangible said he should feel terrible about that joke, and said he doesn't, implying that he's proud of making such a bad pun
In my opinion, this story could not have been told any better. It really explains the feelings of Luna leading up to her banishment, the feelings of Celestia having to banish her, and also (even though it was mentioned very little) the feelings of those who had to fight their war. All in all, the greatest piece of brony music I've heard so far. It deserves way more recognition. Keep on rockin
True. The more I listen to it, the more I'm amazed by the lyrics. The other day I even teared up a bit at the "If I could have saved you, if I could have known - though much time will pass, I'll love you evermore". The whole conflict between the two sisters, with Luna frustrated and depressed (and maybe a tiny bit paranoid?) at her hard work being ignored, and Celestia feeling sad and even guilty that her sister did such a thing while at the same time never softening her resolve to do what must be done for the good of the kingdom... it just hits all the right strings.
Metal...with ponys.. that are coming from a show called Frienship is Magic...this is a weird mix, but the result are like...20% cooler than normal metal...and this is a fucking Symphonic Opera! Guy, you are my new hero...

@@SkyBoltsMusic Now, I've heard a lot... this album is still on another fucking level. To my ears it stands up to some of the most incredible epics ever composed.
24:23 "Now the sunrise lifts us up from the dark, The dawn bringing light, bringing hope We will rebuild, for our spirit is strong, And Harmony will be restored" ...beautiful. Really, good work. Greetings from Barcelona.
***** & ***** Batty B. does have a point. It is a 25 minute long song, so it would take a helluva long time for anyone to make this into a video, and he wasn't rude. he was stating facts. Although, I don't know about your guys, but I can wait. I've waited more than a year for a couple of amazing Brony videos to be made, and the fall of the Crystal Empire was well waiting for. I'm still patiently and intently waiting for some pmvs and some fan made episodes/movies. time and patience aside, I'm so proud to be a brony.

This is a masterpiece. The effort, investment, and soul that all of you have put into this work is exceedingly evident. This piece blurs the line between amateur and professional. The only real thing that Moonrise suffers from is that it is admittedly short for a full-fledged symphonic metal opera. One could only have hoped to have born further witness to the glorious and then tragic relationship between the "beloved alicorns, the angels whom we adorn with majesty". Even so, I cannot imagine how much time has already been spent to weave this masterful retelling of a story which itself has only ever been told to us in brevity. Whatever rough edges are left begin to dwindle away with each passing scene. Musicians, writers, vocalists, artists all: as a lover of tales, as a lover of music, I offer my praise and my sincerest gratitude.
This song was played many times on the Rock Band setup at BronyCon this year. It was so fun watching people go 26 minutes straight playing and it was completely infuriating when the guitarist messed up repeatedly on the solos. xD Great times!
DivinumX Yeah, that 26-minute-long Rock Band chart is kind of ridiculous :D (That's the one Linos Melendi did, right?) If it's the chart I'm thinking of I'm not surprised they were messing up the solos, even I couldn't play those (on Rock Band ... very different to playing them on an actual guitar XD)
I can't believe it's been 9 years. It feels like yesterday i listened to this for the first time. This song got me through long nights working in a factory. I still love it to this day. It's amazing in every way, and I'm so glad it exists
I'll be honest with ya L-Train, this song, no matter how many times I listen to it, still sends shivers down my spine, still makes me feel good. When I have a bad day, when I'm stressed or mad, whatever bad emotion I may have, I always listen to this song. Because it makes me relaxed, it makes me feel good, and it's just utterly lovely. You are a true artist to do something like that to someone. I appreciate the calm your song can bring to me when I'm in a sour mood. And to all those that helped you bring this to life, they are incredible as well. Thank you L-Train for what you put time and effort into creating.

This is by far one of the best collaborations I've ever listened to. It deserves a lot more views than it currently has, I do hope you continue to make songs like this.

This...this gave me goosebumps because that's how epic this was. Awesome L-Train, you've done it again! And major thanks to everyone else that contributed to this as well!
Amazing soundtrack listened to this for years when I was obsessed with instrumental and orchestra. Basically epic music and this was one of my favorites
Ik this is from 6 years ago but this is the best thing I have ever heard. I've never had a favourite music genre before, but now that I found symphonic metal, I think I do
-clears throat- this, was probably the most beautiful thing I've ever heard come from this fandom, or it would be in the top 3 anyway, this was so perfectly done, the singing, perfection, the guitars, beast, everything, was fantastic, you should be proud for creating something so elegant, something so beautiful, a true master piece.
I have never been so happy that I got into the mlp fandom. If I hadn't I never would have found this. This is some of the greatest symphonic metal I have heard. Lunar March is my favorite and Daybreak is breath-taking. Thank you for such amazing music.
Whoa, this album is AWESOME! Each of almost 26 minutes is just so epic, that words cannot describe it. Oh, and congratulations on vicotry at Ponyville Live Top 50 Songs of 2014!
The first song/album I listened to in the fandom. This is one of the best things I've ever heard I wish the metal guys in the community like you and PrinceWhateverer are given more credit.
The L-Train I listen to this genre of music all the time and I would like to say I think this song is well made but I still agree with AMrTheAn somewhat. There is something about it that doesn't give it the 'epic' feel of what I normally listen to in comparison to, for example, Sacred Worlds by Blind Guardian. What I think it is is that it does not go to the extremes of loud and soft enough, but that is just my opinion. Also note sorry if I come off a little rude but I just wanted to supply some constructive criticism.
Matt Smith Well, when it comes down to it, after you've listened to a genre of music for a really long time, it's difficult not to find similarities among a larger percentage of the songs. It's kind of what defines a genre of music... similarities in musical composition and lyrical thematic.
TheFGF913 But this is a pony related piece of music... I mean, even you can't deny how beautifully this was composed. From the use of Latin to the way the story is told, this is without a doubt a masterpiece.
My whole family's musical. My parents owned (and we have the old synth in our house) a recording studio. I was born with perfect pitch, a great ear for music, some great taste (if I do say so myself), and I have listened to a LOT of metal. I can safely say that, for all the music I've heard, this stands among masterpieces. The riffwork is fantastic and the instrumentation is gloriously incredible, truly fitting for the story it tells. I love the lyrical inflections and accents, and all subtleties to this piece. It's truly a job well done, and all those involved should feel extremely proud of themselves. And, it makes ponies sound badass. What's not to like? Haha. My only very very insignificant note is a case of personal preference, and I feel some of the singing could have been a little... what's the word...? More weighted. Same tone, same inflections, just with a little more weight. And, I found myself thinking that some of the sound mixing could have been a little better here or there so the lyrics are just a little more audible over the instruments. However, both of those are extremely minor, and I don't think this needs to be changed at all. It's brilliant, plain and simple. Thank you.
I've been utterly amazed when i first listened to this masterpiece. Now, one month later, i still can't stop. You, guys, did an awesome work and if it weren't for the payment form, i'd surely buy the album to listen to it everyday, three times a day at least. Great job.
There's music in the sunlight, and there's music in the shadows, and now symponic metal fills the sky, there's music by the sunrise, and there's music by the moonrise, and the music makes alicorns battle it out... *guitar riff* Yay!
I will always love Symphonic Opera Metal. The marriage of guitar riffs and orchestra pieces that just blend into an amalgamation sounds that are both beautiful and wondrous, then turns dark is just always thrilling.
I'm quite behind. I only now listened to this. Very beautifully done, and props to all of the guests. Masterful work. And as always, great job on the mixing and Mastering by Secret Metal.
I loved the orchestration of the instruments from the Intro. But once I heard the variety of excellent guitar solos, the beautiful female vocal and strong melodic male vocal-- I was blown away by the new awesome!
@@kampfmeersau You really should use something else to calibrate your speakers lol :D I mixed and mastered this 10 years ago and I still think it sounds decent but nothing near good enough to be used to calibrate speakers. :D
No but seriously, I've listened to this three times now (and many more to come) and I'm still left shaking when it ends. Absolutely amazing job by everyone involved... just incredible.
I typically hate choosing one "best" of any category containing lots of good things that I love, but shit man... I'm convinced that this is THE BEST brony song out there, and probably one of the finest pieces of symphonic metal ever made.
I love it when a lot of people collaborate to make something as awesome sounding as this. I'm totally going to do the making a physical CD thing when I buy this. Just gotta get a new printer first, haha. I think if you told me a few years ago that I'd find so much joy in a show about whimsical technicolor ponies, I most likely wouldn't believe you. Lo and behold, here I am. All in all, keep up the good work, and don't let the music end. You folks rock. Thanks for your time, and have a fantastic day. \m/
You my friend, have musicality. I can feel the pulse of the music, the emotions of the characters in each scene, the flow of the music... all of it is beautiful. it even almost made me cry a few times

HOLY LUNA! I don't care who, I don't care how long it takes, someone make an epic PMV of this! This is amazing L-Train. It's gonna be hard to beat this. I think you've set things up for the whole year. Nice job man.
Listening in 2019 an beyond
This...this gave me goosebumps because that's how epic this was. Awesome L-Train, you've done it again! And major thanks to everyone else that contributed to this as well!
This is pure, unquestioned art! It's so amazing, that I don't know what can I say... You are all awesome, people! Bravo! /)
(\ thankyou!
Today, exactly 7 years, I can‘t believe it has been this long already 😭❤️
Amazing soundtrack listened to this for years when I was obsessed with instrumental and orchestra. Basically epic music and this was one of my favorites
Ik this is from 6 years ago but this is the best thing I have ever heard. I've never had a favourite music genre before, but now that I found symphonic metal, I think I do
Symphonic metal is the best thing that person can have with pants on. :D

1. Gross
2. Unrelated
3. The thing you're referring to, I don't like it
4. Sorry for ruining your already terrible joke
I always get back year after year, to listen to this masterpiece, it has been more than 5 years now.
Man. This got me through so many classes in high school back then. Hope to never see it fade. And may others stumble upon it, in future.
This Song is #1 on the top 50 songs of 2014 on Fillydelphia radio /)
Dusan Lausevic (\ thanks to everyone who voted!
Hay yeah, all these awesome people deserved it! :D
the entire opera collection?
-clears throat- this, was probably the most beautiful thing I've ever heard come from this fandom, or it would be in the top 3 anyway, this was so perfectly done, the singing, perfection, the guitars, beast, everything, was fantastic, you should be proud for creating something so elegant, something so beautiful, a true master piece.
the fact that this stems from a children's show with pastal pones just makes it so confusing but I love itt!! like seriously this is amazingg
I have never been so happy that I got into the mlp fandom. If I hadn't I never would have found this. This is some of the greatest symphonic metal I have heard. Lunar March is my favorite and Daybreak is breath-taking. Thank you for such amazing music.
Welp mate... /mlp/ saw this... and they liked it.
You got the 4chan pony board... to like a fandom creation.
You've done it mate. Congrats.
Whoa, this album is AWESOME! Each of almost 26 minutes is just so epic, that words cannot describe it. Oh, and congratulations on vicotry at Ponyville Live Top 50 Songs of 2014!
Wow. In all of my days, I have never even heard something so amazing for MLP! In my opinion, this would hit #1 on my MLP fandom songs.
Well symphonic metal makes everything great
The first song/album I listened to in the fandom. This is one of the best things I've ever heard
I wish the metal guys in the community like you and PrinceWhateverer are given more credit.
It's my 7th time listening to this today. A masterpiece. Thanks for doing this truly amazing piece of art
That was the most epic thing I have ever heard.
Gave me friggin goosebumps, and I usually don't like this genre of music.
AMrTheAn
Could you please elaborate on what you mean by "generic"? (Also "etc".)
The L-Train
I listen to this genre of music all the time and I would like to say I think this song is well made but I still agree with AMrTheAn somewhat.

Matt Smith
mmm :/
Matt Smith Well, when it comes down to it, after you've listened to a genre of music for a really long time, it's difficult not to find similarities among a larger percentage of the songs. It's kind of what defines a genre of music... similarities in musical composition and lyrical thematic.
The L-Train
Genre is the type of music
Liked, favorited, shared, praised, bought.
Right, now it's time to listen.
Still good in 2024.
This is finally done! Congrats dude! This is even better than i imagined! /)
Been about seven years. Still awesome. Carry on.
Masterpiece. No more words
TheFGF913
But this is a pony related piece of music...
I mean, even you can't deny how beautifully this was composed. From the use of Latin to the way the story is told, this is without a doubt a masterpiece.
TheFGF913 if you noticed, all this piece of music is pony related...
TheFGF913 not sure if trolling or just stupid...
TheFGF913 **Slow Clap**
This is still unendingly glorious and gorgeous, as much as it did when it first dropped a whole half-decade ago! :D
You have even now grabbed the attention of quite a few non-brony metalheads for this amazing opera, in other words, VERY VERY WELL DONE!!!
Thank you.
I'd mark it 10/10! Very impressive storytelling! You guys so talented cuz you made this absolutely awesome opera.
I've been utterly amazed when i first listened to this masterpiece. Now, one month later, i still can't stop. You, guys, did an awesome work and if it weren't for the payment form, i'd surely buy the album to listen to it everyday, three times a day at least.
Great job.
There's music in the sunlight,
and there's music in the shadows,
and now symponic metal fills the sky,
there's music by the sunrise,
and there's music by the moonrise,
and the music makes alicorns battle it out...
*guitar riff*
Yay!
I will always love Symphonic Opera Metal. The marriage of guitar riffs and orchestra pieces that just blend into an amalgamation sounds that are both beautiful and wondrous, then turns dark is just always thrilling.
HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD THIS YET
Mabel Pines Because you listen to Sev'ral Timez so much?
But seriously, this stuff is awesome.
Mabel Pines Or as any normal person would say, SCRUB! :D
Waking up in a cold sweat remembering this after 5 or 6 years not listening to it is the best thing to happen to me in a while.
What do you mean 10 years ago 😭
Still using this to calibrate my home cinema speakers. Brony veteran.
@@kampfmeersau You really should use something else to calibrate your speakers lol :D I mixed and mastered this 10 years ago and I still think it sounds decent but nothing near good enough to be used to calibrate speakers. :D
@@SecretMetalFromAbyss I discovered this 5 years ago and still listening to it. Thanks alot!
Right. Time Flies.
Now 11!
I love this music so much omg
I love it when a lot of people collaborate to make something as awesome sounding as this. I'm totally going to do the making a physical CD thing when I buy this. Just gotta get a new printer first, haha. I think if you told me a few years ago that I'd find so much joy in a show about whimsical technicolor ponies, I most likely wouldn't believe you. Lo and behold, here I am. All in all, keep up the good work, and don't let the music end. You folks rock. Thanks for your time, and have a fantastic day. \m/
We need an animated video/SFM playing along with this.
YES
HELL YES FOR THE LOVE OF LUNA DO IT.
You my friend, have musicality. I can feel the pulse of the music, the emotions of the characters in each scene, the flow of the music... all of it is beautiful. it even almost made me cry a few times
