Northern CA is TOTALLY different than the Central Coast of CA. No humidity, wonderful hikes, beautiful hikes and ocean views. VERY friendly people....more of the eye contact and saying hi. Central Coast of California CAN'T be beat. Love to visit Hawaii, have family there, but I think the Aloha spirit is so over done. Don't really think it's very different than CA.
So many people I know have left California, I think people in Hawaii are much nicer. Cost of living was the same for me. I really like Siargao Philppines. Great video

I am sitting on the deck looking at Richardson Beach in Hilo. Next week is Kona. Thank you for your channel. It has been a fantastic resource. We made a list of the beaches and place you have mentioned. We are very happy. We wrote down every restaurant that Julie said "yummy." It is a long list. We have been to 2 so far and they were wonderful. The family and I thank you.
Out of the cities, the wilderness is nice if one can get out there on days off. The groceries/restaurant/variety are overall better selection and cheaper but other than that, paranoia drivers; toxic smog; congestive traffic; homeless encampment; and unfriendly cops are something to think about.
The biggest difference is jobs... the quality of life due to simply economics in California is better... average closing cost of a home in west hawaii? $920,000.... average hourly wage? $22/hr..... it’s a joke
California is much bigger, more diverse and lot more to do in California.

Whe I was in Kona last month, I was pleasently suprised that Costco gas is 10 -15 cents cheaper on the BI than Los Angeles.
