Josh you may be the most under rated drummer of my generation. You give the song so much respect. Not over or under doing anything. Making the song the best it can be. So much respect man! You are an essential part of coheed. Thank you
In the objective reality where we all exist, Josh Eppard is the best drummer in the history of rock music. Sadly, few people know music well enough to understand that fact.
Josh this is awesome man. You could do a whole series of these and never lose my interest. Claudio has his twitch stream and you could just do this on RUclips and the fans will love it. Do Love Murder One next! (With Zach cause he kills it on that one too)
@@WeerdScienceTV BRO Ladders is by far the magnum opus of the album. So good. I had the thought while listening to it, each section is exactly how long it should be. No fat, no extra, just perfectly trimmed and beautiful!
Seeing your face light up like that when you talk coheed or drums makes me so happy bro. Your one amazing human being Josh, I am going on 8 years sober and I wanna tell you that your drumming and your story has helped me get clean and stay clean.. you are an inspiration to me in so many ways
Yes, sober 32 yrs now myself, and can't get more real than this too. It's important to tell others that there's a lot of people that need to be as honest about it.
I’ve never been a guy who really picks up and appreciates rhythm sections, but ever since first hearing the intro to Time Consumer something like 20 yrs ago, I’ve been a massive fan of that aspect of this band. There’s something uniquely and appropriately rock and roll about how Coheed’s drums and base are arranged.
I NEED MORE OF THESE IN MY LIFE. Please make more of these. I am an aspiring drummer myself and I have been off and on inconsistently practicing myself. I'd like to hear your mind on other songs like Domino and Disappearing Act. Please! I still have your In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth 3 vinyl that I had you guys autograph back on the Color Before the Sun tour. Thank you so much for all that you do. You are my true drumming inspiration.
I wish...so heavily...that I could hear ALL of the band members commentary on their own parts as they are being produced the way you have done here. It truly feels like secret knowledge and it is glorious! Thank you so much for this! Really love just how passionate you are about your playing. My favorite drummer from my favorite band!
You are without a doubt one of the top drummers out there. You make things look easy, you hit with power, and you have fun doing it. Have enjoyed listening to you evolve over the years.
What I really love about Coheed is that all of it's members are dudes that I feel I could relate to very easily. And Josh is the guy it fits the most. If I'd ever be fortunate enough to meet the band, I'll probably great him first. Such a nice down to earth guy. I'm glad he returned to the band. They wouldn't sound the same as they do today without him.
The fact that you play everything on a small kit, is amazing on its own. Hands down the baddest drummer on the planet, along with the baddest band in the planet. Congrats on the success of the new Album!!! My friend Wes played keys with CaC on the Neverender tour.
You absolutely nailed the flying feeling here, I've always felt that especially in some older songs like the crowing. It's my favorite part of a lot of coheed songs.
OH MY GOD getting to hear you talk about it. My god, this is so cool. I learned drums 20 years by playing along to coheed. Every track y'all release, I am breaking down the drums in my head, trying to picture Josh playing it, trying to visualize where he's finding the groove. So cool to be able to actually see the man explain it himself. Can't wait to see more.
I've seen you guys live more times than I can even count, every time, every show in southern california and You're always the most entertaining part of the shows I see.
I am sooooo happy Josh made it back into the band. He's such a core part of what makes coheed my favourite band from the 50 years I've been on this rock. Vaxis II is sublime!
Just…thanks for still being here to do stuff like this, man. I’m really happy you’re back with Coheed (and fuckin killing it again) but I’m even more glad that you’re healthy and happy and alive.
Dude can we please get commentary on like, every drum part you've done lol. There are so many choices you make across the discography that I've always thought were so unique and I'd love to hear what went into those parts!
I actually really love the commentary aspect of this. Not only an I interested in learning more about you as a person, but the way you break things down helps me understand your thought process and really appreciate the drumming so much more. I know nothing about drums, I'm a lowly guitar player chasing Claudio's riffs usually, but I was completely captivated in this video. Great content. Best band ever. 🔥🔥🤘🤘
As a bass player I focus on drums and bass when I first hear something. Lately learning some of the bass parts on older tunes, I realized you do so much that goes unnoticed. Guess thats what makes good music, hearing something 100 times and always something new noticed. Jimmy Chamberlain (smashing pumpkins) and you I can watch jam all day.
Josh, you are my favorite drummer. And this drum part is a good example of why. You play with such deep emotional appreciation. The look on your face shows your deep appreciation to be creatively beat the piss out of your drums to Claudio's vision, we see that out here as equivalently excited fans, thank you!
What a cool concept, really enjoyed hearing you talk about the song and your playing. You've got the personality for these types of videos for sure. And the nattyness sounded great!
I hope we get to see more of these Josh about any of your performances on the bands tracks as I’d love to hear more about your thought process and take on claudio’s arrangements. You’re the most influential drummer for my style and I just want to say thank you for that and for being the drummer of my favourite band during the last 20 years of my life 🙂
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on this song!! I really hope you have space to do more of these commentaries because lord knows we want to see more! You've been an immeasurable inspiration to me and so many other drummers.
You are why I decided to play drums. It is nice to see you finally posting drum content because you are one of a kind in a once in a lifetime band . 25+ year career and you are still coming up with grooves that are truly unique. Thank You!
I love it. Always been a fan. This song is probably my favorite because of how much of your “typical” or customary drumming it has on it that you are known for with Coheed. The triple kick push and voice you give this song really makes it stand out as a song I’m attracted to on the album.
Man you are so talented its disgusting. You and this band have saved my life more than once. You guys are such an inspiration. Ive flown half way across the country to see you guys two different times.I CANNOT wait to do it again hopefully soon as i wont be able to make it to my local show as im recovering from back surgery, whioch may or may not be due to rocking out to this band for close to 20 years, across 15 plus shows
It’s always enlightening to hear the perspective of the drummer as an drummer myself😊 Such a great commentary Josh and thanks for giving us Coheed fans such awesome drum parts and inspiring other musicians 🙏🏼💗🥁
K. I. N. G. This is your album, brother. Thank you for 20 years of moving us and pushing us to get better in our instrument. (Even when we want to quit after hearing you. lmao)
This is my favorite song on the record so far. That could change. You're one of my favorite drummers. I've been playing drums for 24 years but your beats are always very challenging to learn. The verse groove on here is one of them and I still can't play Domino from Afterman. Maybe one day lol
So glad you're doing this so amateur drummers like me can get insights into your thought process. I've been doing full-album playthroughs of Coheed albums on drums for almost 20 years in my practice sessions and getting just a little bit better at perfectly following your tracks over time. Like your drum tech said, you have a style that can be tracked over these many albums, but not through droning repetition! Instead, it feels like you have a core idea for the song and you just dance an elegant circle around the idea, finding all these unique phrases that can still be traced back to the idea. I guess a real musician might call that great composition haha :P Please keep these coming! I've been a real fan of yours for so long and this content is very meaningful to me
Josh, if you read these, you were the first drummer I saw that played open like me. Been watching you super closely ever since. Love the groove, love the intricacies. So so so happy to see you putting this stuff out there.

It's not coheed without Josh. When you left for that little bit, we were heartbroken. The groove and feel you create is amazing. It mixes so well with Claudios style, and again, it's not Coheed without you!
Drums like this is what helps elevate Coheed on so many levels. Your growth on the set has been unbelievable, and I can’t wait to see more of these Josh ❤️
