This was my wedding song. Joe and I danced to this every year for 34 years he passed in 2020. He also took me to see Ms Streisand twice at The Garden to hear our wedding song live. I will never forget it. We had orchestra seats and my husband yelled out “love ya Barb” she heard him and repeated his words. He said see, she knows this song is so special to us. Thank you Barbra for this song it made

Absolutely - this was before VCRs, DVR, and You Tube replaying every moment ad nauseum. It was live, it was exciting, and the movies were great and experimental.
Classy in particular.
And also she's actually singing, not lip syncing.
And when all singers they have talent and pretty great voices , no nudes, no bad words, just great performances and beautiful lyrics 😊👍🏼
People in 2023 forget how multitalented she truly is!! Before Adele, before Whitney and before Celine, there was only Barbara and the best thing is she’s as good an actress / comedian and director / producer and composer / lyricist as she is a singer, which is something none of the others can claim! Don’t get me wrong, each of the others are legitimate forces in their own right and have magical vocal instrument abilities but nobody pulls all the talents together the way Barbara does, so it makes her reign supreme as Queen of all!!! She’s our true Mother of Dragons thus deserves great respect.

@@DavidAsset78 I'm not a huge Whitney fan but that is just a crazy thing to say. Whitney's voice for its fullness and richness which only comes from being supported. Barbara does support her long belts well but is sometimes nasally.
She is very resilient because the critics were total savages when that movie came out. I admire her.

I saw Streisand's movie version of "A Star Is Born" on cable last month.
It makes Lady Gaga's version look like a piece of art.
I mean, it was BAAAAD !
I wasn't an admirer of it either for a long while, but after a re-watch I like it much more now. It is the feminist tone that I like, though it is a victim of it's own time period...especially in the tolorence of addiction and "enabling". @@shihlin1
I liked Streisand's version although panned by the critics it was a commercial success...I watched GAGA's version and switched off after 30 minutes it w2as too similar....@@shihlin1
@@shihlin1 Audiences loved it when it came out becoming Barbra’s highest grossing film at the time. That’s saying a lot considering Barbra had one hit movie after another. It was a blockbuster! I was there and witnessed it.

This reminds me of when I was young living my life. I played this, her guilty album, everyday when it first came out. Whenever I hear this song it transports me right back in time and I get those wonderful youthful feel good feelings. I loved this women then, and I love her now. Thank you Barbra for all the great emotions your songs invoked in me throughout my life. I love your voice, I loved watching all the films you starred in, and I love the feelings I get when I hear you sing xxxx

What I especially love about this is that despite all the critics hating on Barbra for this movie here she was on stage holding an Oscar for it. True it wasn't for acting but optics-wise it doesn't matter.

@@shyman99 Got to agree. The movie A Star is Born was not one of her best: I sensed zero chemistry between Barbra and Kristofferson . The soundtrack is purely pop, while the movie was sold to be a rock movie. Give me Bradley and Lady Gaga anytime.
@@user-jw9ye1em7m - Exactly. Kristofferson was an awful choice because he can't even sing well. Outside of the love theme, the music was terrible. And Paul Williams deserves much of the credit for "Evergreen". I am a huge fan of movies with music. I even adore Xanadu & The Jazz Singer even though critics love to trash them. Great music can carry even a bad movie to me. But this movie had only one song and one scene going for it.
I'm surprised she showed up. She spent so many years avoiding the limelight. That song is still a beautiful song.

I didn't really appreciate her then because I was pretty young. But gosh this is a beautiful song and a flawless performance. She and Kris K. had so much chemistry in the movie. I prefer it to the Lady Gaga version.

I've been listening to her memoir and she repeatedly says that live performing scares her to death. Assuming she was scared, she did a helluva job on a night when she had alot at stake.

Barbra was terrified and it showed., but she did it as a favor to the producers of the Oscars. Nothing can ever top the live studio recording from the movie. I think only her performance in her One Voice concert came close.
All due respect, I sincerely doubt she was "terrified" as by this time she had been performing in front of live audiences for about 15 years. There's another live clip of her singing The Way We Were in front of a live televised audience that took place two years before this one, and she was clearly completely at ease having done it probably dozens of times by then; she was already a superstar.

Paul Williams/FUNNY guy. I was going to thank all the little people. then I remembered, I am the little people. LOL. Paul composed several big hits as a composer. he even wrote the LOVE BOAT T.v theme song.
