    Peter,
I am a middle school art teacher and show your videos pretty frequently in my class. I would ask you to consider a career in teaching, but you already are a teacher! I am so grateful that you have a presence on youtube. I like to send my students home for the summer with "youtube watching recommendations" and you are always at the top of the list!
    Cheers!

Peter I have a mildly professional TIP!!! it is: If your art is terrible, the next drawing will be better :) if your art is great: the next drawing will be better! If you never draw another picture, your art wont get better

Peter, you are the only person I have cared to listen to ramble.. You always talk about nothing and everything at the same time. I came to your channel for the art but stayed for the rambling. I thoroughly enjoy your content. You exude creativity, it's weird.. I like to think that I'm a wordsmith. My favorite form of art is language and your language is just as "abstract" as most of your art. In my opinion, it could be conceived that the main content of your channel could be your abstract thoughts, with a side of abstract drawing. If the titles of your videos were different. I'm sure if you were asked you would say that you have no favorite form of art, and I don't think you realise it but you are an incarnation of art. It's a conumdrum, honestly. Well that's my small ramble in reply to your ramble for the day.
I would like to hear your thoughts on this.
    Hope you are well,
    A Random Fan.

I had the same art teacher in school for 6 years, from the 7th grade until I graduated HS and he rarely if ever told us what to create. Teachers had more freedom in those days. He had a cabinet full of supplies and we just got out what we wanted and started creating, if we needed help, we asked for help. Those days in his class fostered my creativity like nothing else.

I think it is helpful to try drawing in different styles, even if they aren't styles you admire outright. I found a style I am great at accidentally by taking a request to draw something I normally wouldn't. I never once thought I would enjoy drawing in that style but it came so naturally I could express the scenes and moods in my head that were getting lost by trying to achieve a style that I struggled with. The satisfaction that comes from capturing on paper the true essence of what was in your mind is a game changer. Style is superfluous.

    Doodling comes from the
    Desire to do,
Try setting still for all day,
    The energy,
    To move a pen pencil
    Turns into a doodle,
    Then enough built up
    Energy and it's time to
    Doodle your desire,
    Doodle 3 or 4 times
    One's Iike the most

About sketchy lines vs. neater, you can make a line form a shape, it's difficult for most of us to make that perfectly formed shape without 'sketching it', we're not robots with bionic arms . But as far as perspective, or telling someone their perspective is off, if they are having a problem with it and say, ''why cant I make this table look flat?'' they want to make their drawing work (reflect reality) so yes, you should say and show them how it should look .
BTW; You can replace copic tips. I believe you can also just flip some of them around, do not toss.

Peter Adds just enough extra Creativity and Mystery to Make his RUclips Channel and Podcasts interesting to watch on a regular basis. Combining Creativity, ASMR, Mystery, Intrigue, Suspense. Watching your drawing Videos are also is great for Meditations. Healing and Relaxing Meditations, work well with something either Repetitive in Sound or Movement. Allows the Subconscious to remove 'Alert Modes' so the Person is Physically and Emotionally Relaxed. Once relaxed the Person can use that Relaxed Creative Mood for ,Art, Music, Writing, Healing Meditation or just Sleep and Rest. ASMR - Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response.Autonomous - spontaneous, self-governing, within or without controlSensory - pertaining to the senses or sensationMeridian - signifying a peak, climax, or point of highest developmentResponse - referring to an experience triggered by something external or internal

I went to school for art, I liked it at first but some of the classes didn't interest me, and as I went on, they expected more out of me. Whatever piece of art I created, I was constantly told "it could've been better" and ended up getting an average grade, which slowly destroyed my self-esteem as an artist. Considering I grew up hearing from everyone that "my art is phenomenal".But I also saw others enjoy the classes, and I saw them grow as the artists they wanted to be. I defintely learned new techniques, and I DID grow as an artist. But all and all, it wasn't for me. I would end up having to make three different pieces, all different mediums, some of which I wasn't used to working with, all to just be graded... It got super exhausting and I almost wanted to give up drawing all together, but would just be irrational on my part. I did have one professor, who was really awesome and patient. And his project outlines were very very vauge, so there was room for creativity, which I loved. I also had another teacher who's outlines were very specific, and during critique time, everyone's pieces would end up looking the same, and she graded very harshly. But that's art in college, everyone has a different agenda. It depends on the person I suppose, I personally don't like structure when it comes to art. It's a way to express myself, why would I WANT any rules or outlines to follow? But you live and learn, and I definitely learned alot during that time and I don't regret it at all.

You remind me a lot of the art professor I had in college. She always gave her students a lot of freedom on their projects because she didn't believe that art had to be formal or follow specific rules. Her philosophy was that the point of art is to communicate an idea or feeling, so if it was communicating your message it didn't matter what style or medium or whatever you use. ^_^

Dearest Peter, about the motivation thing, the 9 to 5, in psychology there is intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. As an artist and worker you are intrinsically motivated to get work done. An intrinsic motivation is something you love to do for the sake of doing it, like eating ice cream. One does not need to eat ice cream, but it is a reward in it of itself. Art is an intrinsic motivator for me as well, I love creating for the sake of creating. (At 9:35 you explain this perfectly)
People who survive in the 9 to 5 world are extrinsically motivated, they are motivated by money or by a promotion or by getting something done. An extrinsic motivation isn't something that is pleasant but it reaps pleasant rewards.
Sincerely, your daily provider of things you may have never wanted to know. (I'm taking a psych class right now, and its fascinating and I wanted to share)

Wonderful advice to the young artist. It took me a lifetime to get to the same understanding and find my own comfort.

Peter, I like the water painting at the beach video, but what I really liked was seeing how your arting drew people in! You should do some street art to push your comfort zone and to see people's reactions.
