So underrated the Goo Goo Dolls are...they deserve so much more acclaim....cause they have so much to offer in the Music world!
I keep seeing a lot of negative comments on here and I just don't understand it. I love his older music too but music evolves just like people! Nothing will every hit me like Iris or Broadway or Slide will, they're all so different and this is just new and different too. He's grown up and so has his music. If you listen chronologically the music changes as he does. Different influences and events in his life change the music. I think we need to respect that his music had changed along with him. It happens to every artist, especially as they get older. It's just not cool to disrespect them for it. Not every song can be a greatest hit or sound like the other songs but it doesn't mean it's any less worth listening to.
Bridgette Walker Nicely said. We all age and get older. People just can’t stay the same and look the same forever and that goes for music as well. I think this song sounds cool. It might not be Name, or slide, or here is gone, but it’s still nice. Plus goo goo dolls gives off a nostalgic 90’s vibe that no matter what they do. They will always be DOPE 😎😎😎

This is actually one of my favorite songs buy them. And I'm just glad to see them rocking in modern time with the rest of them.

They are GREAT!!! I am American but live in England. I saw them perform last night At Rock City, Nottingham. Johnny and Robby both came out behind the venue and met people, signed autographs and allowed fans to take pictures with them. They didn't have to. Surely they were tired and had to travel on to play Birmingham tonight the 25th Feb. If they read this, which I hope they do, I was honored to meet them and have an autograph and a picture taken. Dizzy changed my life, and I have never stopped admiring johnny since. His evolution has been like all of ours. You can't hold on to one specific sound and attitude your whole life. Hes changed and evolved like we ALL do. Lessons, regrets, experience all put us in different places throughout our lives. And I for one am still waiting for the day I can see them live and let myself go with their music.
More than 20 years after their debut, they go and do this magic. Amazing.

I love them because the GGD divert from the corporate manufactured state of music today. They write whatever the hell they want to write and they do it so spectacularly. We need more music like this.

I had the privilege of meeting and knowing the GGD in the early days in Buffalo, NY. I was such a fan I wanted to start the first fan club. John was a beautiful person then and he is just as beautiful now. I appreciate his talent his ability to make us feel. I hope that John will continue to grace us with his music. Billy I think had a solo album that wasn't so good, it was just different but his follow up acoustic solo album I thought was really deep and just about every track is worth listening too. Maybe they will do one soon.

Oglilala? Yes that was respectable work. In 2004 he performed a dozen or so acoustic "Chicago Songs" with the intent to release them. Never did. A shame as they were extraordinary. He didnt believe there was an audience and went on to the very lackluster Future Embrace instead. Supposedly John has an album's worth of quite good and gutwrenching solo acoustic songs from the Gutterflower period which never made it past the demo stage. Perhaps too personal for release though. That ship has sailed so to speak. I hoped the Otis Midnight shows would lead to something but unfortunately not. Easy listening pop it is then!

The whole place got up and sang along when they did this song I was surprised bc i cant ever find a radeo station playing I always have to look it up on RUclips but everyone knew it and loved it!!! I don't get why people are upset with this song, personally I think it's pretty solid. The old stuff is obviously amazing but it's nearly impossible to replicate that same stuff in today's environment and boomers can't really understand that. Plus, this is only one song from the album and i'm sure that there's more guitar oriented goodness in there that most people are craving. Keep doing you guys and know that the real fans will have your back.

My 15 year old loves this song! I was happily surprised to find out it was Goo Goo Dolls. My daughter is going through a rough time right now and it doesn't feel like its getting better. Wow. I heard this on the radio at work and didn't know who it was so I looked up the lyrics and was surprised to see it's the Goo Goo Dolls. I was a teen in the 90s and a fan of their earlier work, so this song was a pleasant surprise. It sounds so current. Love it.
No, it isn't like their old music. And I am perfectly fine with their evolution. Personally, I love them through and through. The Goo Goo Dolls will always remain a favorite band of mine, and after seeing them in concert it only strengthens that. Had this song on replay since seeing it live. Saw these guys last night in concert. They rock! So much energy for a couple of old folks.
Lots of comments about John's plastic surgery... while I don't disagree on the surface, John is clearly a deep and sensitive human being with the unusual job of being a public performer... mix that with his level of fame where everyone just literally stares at you... none of us can honestly know or judge how we would react walking that path... what issues or concerns would that trigger in any of us? We've seen this plastic surgery reaction with countless numbers of celebrities which indicates that this isn't about John, it's about our common human nature under the circumstances of fame.
All I can say is that quitting is not an option, becoming a recluse and walking away, sitting on a beach forever would get terribly boring knowing there's a world waiting who loves to celebrate Johns great music.
So IMO he's doing whatever he has to do to deal with his own challenges and that is not for me to judge, I'm just glad he's soldering on because he's a truly great artist which we all know and appreciate.
He'd like you to think he's a deep and sensitive human being. He's a raging ahole. ... that's a known fact in the industry.

@@thedesertdweller I worked in that industry for 18 years. There is much much worse than Rzeznik. In an industry full of the vain, self indulgent, immoral and emotionally unhinged aholes, he's one of the better ones.
