- Two wolves hunting down a coyote. It happened on Feb. 3 in Heyden, Ontario north of Sault Ste. Marie. You can see the second wolf in the far right of the video at the beginning. (Video courtesy of Ryan Thorburn) FULL STORY: bit.ly/3p1LdnS
The size difference between the two canids...... now only if a fox had joined in front to complete the set!
Add a mouse and house cat then you complete the size set.😋
Kind of puts a lot of doubt in the coyote/wolf hybrid unless they are counting the dump the wolf takes a few days later.
At 0:01 behind them you can see another animal running. Probably another wolf since they always stay together.
... then you bring in a man with a gun, and the rest is history lol

That lends credit to how massive wolves really are, many people think they're like German shepherd size, but they're bigger and when there's 1 unless it's a rogue male looking for a new pack, there are others. They are way more intelligent and savy at hunting then most give them credit for
Amazing. Can’t believe you got to film that!
They can both run a top speed of 40mph so giving how slow these 2 are running. I bet the wolf has been after him for a while.
Running in a few inches of snow slows you down a little.
And probably caught him
True but i believe the snow/ice is playing a huge part

Coyote: “Oh- I thought we were playin’” *jukes left*
Yep. jukes left and does his Walter Payton imitation. Gone!!! lol

Wow.. great to finally hear no commentary and just be able to hear the perfect sound of their feet pounding the snow and ice running full out, then able to hear their lungs working hard as they closer and pass by..

Man: Casually Filming this wild encounter
Wolf: You're next on my list.
Your humor is appreciated, but wolves aren't usually that stupid to engage a man one on one unless they have some kind of rabies or for some reason are away from their pack and super-super hungry. It's one thing when we as humans understand different animals, their strengths and as a result have a certain level of respect (fear, if you will) towards them, but the animals are just as smart not to look at the human as prey (most of the time) knowing that a motivated man can do surprising things and is more than capable of putting them down.

Such a dire situation for that coyote, facing an excruciatingly painful death or significant injury leading to such, yet the atmosphere is completely calm, quiet and downright eerie. The sheer brutality of nature is hard to comprehend.

that coyotes dead, that wolf wasnt even goin fulll speed it clutched at last second to catch him, even if that wolf tired the other one would give chase lol
@@dfgdfbsdfvv832 I hate coyotes myself, but a coyote's average speed is identical to a wolf, but their agility turn on a dime and make so much space between them and a wolf is what makes them such good escape artists. It usually takes a few wolves, harsh winter conditions and a little luck for wolves to get a coyote.
If you haven't seen the coyote hunting videos on RUclips, hunters are now using Greyhounds because their the only animal in the Canidae family (Dogs, Wolves, Foxes, etc) that can outrun a coyote and they need 2 to 3 of them to catch a coyote due to their ability to make so much space when they turn.

That was a good wide receiver move when he got some space back on that wolf😂
Coyote got caught slipping in the wrong hood.
I can almost guarantee you that coyote died a few minutes later because the wolf is a better endurance runner than a coyote. If the coyote does not get in some thick cover where agility can help it’s dead.
Article says "They did get the pounce on the coyote, however, my snowmobile did scare them. The wolves then went one way and the coyote went another.”

@@user-db5mu7dt6q naw. They're both from the canid family. When the animals are similar species, size matters.
There was a second wolf right behind coming along.
I'd say coyotes and wolves are about equal for endurance. But being equal in that regard doesn't help the coyote much since a wolf's longer stride will close the distance.
@El Sucio Federali Actually wolves are very good at killing coyotes and if they weren't hunted so heavily, studies are showing that coyotes wouldn't be the problem they are now. Besides keeping trash . kibble and pets indoors, the best way to keep their numbers down is wolves. But the trophy hunters don't want to hear that.

It’s so frustrating when you’re inches away and you get a fake put on you to lose 5-10 feet of distance. Looks like a safety hot on the trails of a receiver who makes a sharp cut to avoid being tackled!
Scott, I’ll bet that wolf caught that coyote. They are stronger, faster, with more stamina and eventually the coyote will turn at bay. One wolf is a tough fight. If any other wolves join in, the coyote will literally be torn to pieces

This is why wolves need to be protected, they are a natural predator of coyotes and help keep the coyote population under control.
I would honestly rather have a coyote problem (as many communities across the US do) than a wolf problem any day..
Cattle have no protection against wolves...........To reintroduce them into areas where they have successfully been driven out is just pure insanity. Wolves are natural born killers and will often kill elk just for the fun of it and leave their bodies to rot and move on. There are wildlife photos that prove it.......
This kinda sounds like the old lady that swallowed the fly approach 🤔 lol. Coyote problem is better than a wolf problem any day!
Wolves just mind their own business and avoid people like the plague, while coyotes are curious and opportunistic troublemakers that dwell around people, and who are initially afraid of you but can end up attacking you, your kids and your pets just because they feel like it if they gain your trust (by giving them food).

Wolves will kill all coyotes in their territory. They will kill domestic dogs too. Wolves are a killing machine.
And that is why wolves should not be hunted so heavily. If we allow wolf numbers to increase, they will cure the coyote overpopulation problem with less effort and money and better results. Nature has been doing this for a long time before we started mass coyote culllings after killing off their main predator, the wolf.
@@MZ-rv1bu Wolves aren't hunted at all in Michigan. I believe there needs to be a controlled season. They are now in every county in the Upper Peninsula. They are killing quite a bit of livestock and domestic/hunting dogs. No doubt they are killing a fair amount of deer too.
