Thanks for sharing your videos. Not sure I'll every paint another Space Marine in my life (painted plenty back in the 90s), but I just enjoy watching you paint.
It's funny how everytime I start collecting an army I find one of your videos for paint tutorials. My GSC are painted in your fashion as well! And soon my black templar!
Probably my favourite recipe. Quick and dirty but the final product is neat. Personally I like my marines more battle worn, so I'd do the final highlights as well as chipping at the edges.
will third black lotus - been using it for black cloaks and it's astounding. it was in fact worth driving a literal hour and a half to buy it (and several other vallejo paints).
Mate, I’ve been trying JH’s tutorial using the black lotus Xpress. While it does come out great after the dry brushing I find that they end up too dark blueish grey.. which is hard for me for a Templar. I was thinking of trying BT contrast with medium , but damn you went straight from the pot and it looks good as well.
I've been in a similar spot using JH's tutorial for an Iron Hands army. It's beautiful, just a -bit- too blue-grey for me. I tried a couple things to remedy it, including switching up the dry-brushing from the blue toned thunderhawk blue and fenrisian grey over to a neutral grey with eshin and ulthuan. This plus a thinned down Black Templar looked pretty good, but honestly was a little "dusty" at the end? So I think using BT straight out of the pot or just being careful with your drybrushing is the way to go. You could also try out thinned Black Legion for a -very- black contrast.
Greetings I rly enjoy ur Warhammer Painting Videos I just started painting Iron Hands. Since i got Sternguard Veterans from the Leviathan Box i am wondering, how do i paint these fellas? I would love to see a Tutorial, how u paint them
Could you please please show us how to paint the necropolis hawks? I’m trying to get into kill team and I wanted to lean heavily into the lore and they seem like one of the strongest candidates for a kill team. Thank you
Quick question.. you said at the start of the video vallejo was hard to find for some.... then coat it in vallejo ? Why not use a citadel corvus black or army painter version for the video instead ?
Because, if you can get it, it's still the best choice. It covers better than either Corvus Black or the nearest AP equivalent, so while they are alternatives, I'd suggest the best option if it's available.
In theory you can use whatever you'd like, but it'll look different. They're not the same colour, so... yeeeeah it's kinda close, but you'll get a different result. As long as you're happy with that, go for it!
Jay from EonsOfBattle also has a good Black Templar scheme/recipe. He's basically been developing it for his own army over the last 10+ years.
Hi sonic ... can you paint a cadian with sand-colored armor plates?
I appreciate that you keep updating your videos as you refine your process.
Every time I start a painting project, Sonic seems to have a video about it come out in the next week. Thanks!
That's my sinister spies reporting back!
A Very special Thank you , Troy .

This timing is insane, I’m literally warbling between starting a Black Templar and Space Wolves army today! 😆
How about starting both? Check the lore first?
@@AceTheBathoundProductions I already have a dozen AoS projects in progress and multiple 40K ones, so I gotta consolidate. Lol.

This is just outstanding work! The model looks great and the technique is simple to do. Thanks for sharing this.
Good vid. Looks like I've not used a blue-grey for my edges, I'll try that next time. Thanks!!!
Oh fantastic! I’ve been hoping you’d take another go at black templars!

Nicely done Troy.
For sure gonna give this a go when I put my Leviathan marines together. Also, would love for you to revisit how you make different kind of bases.
Another useful way to paint a (notoriously) difficult colour. This tutorial could be used also for other black armours, such as Eldars' Dark Reapers.
Nice work as always, boss! Thanks 🙏! Cheers 🍻
Thanks for another great video Sonic!
Great video! I don't know if they have Testors in the UK, but Testors dullcote matte varnish is flawless :)
Awesome video!

Súper nice!
Have these guys made waiting painting , could this be the push I need
Hey Sonic! A fan of yours for a long time now.
Thanks for uploding this vid :)
Question what contrast did you use? Black templar or black legion?
Black Templar. It's listed in the description and mentioned on-screen when it comes up. ✌
Thanks! Dont know how I missed it 🤦🏻♂️
I see a Templar and want too paint it black
Greetings

Amazing tutorial friend, really cool method, will try soon. Can I ask where that model is? Looks sick
Nice

What is this model and where can I get it?
Are those robes greenstuffed? Or is the whole body a 3D print? I don't recognize the body. It looks nice!
Parts of him are prints, while the weapons, head and such are plastic.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio awesome!
How do you correct mistakes using this method? Say I’m painting a robe and get red on my armor, what then?

Where did you get the model and what is it called?
Which model is this specific marine?
Parts of him are 3D printed, and there's some bits from the Assault Intercessor box.
@@SonicSledgehammerStudio which parts are 3d printed? Must be the tabards and chains??
If I don’t have seraphim sepia could I use agrax earth shade as an alternative?
