  • The Alesis Strike Multipad works great as a sampler, but I really like it as a mini-drumset! A solid option if you are looking to consolidate your current setup. Hope you enjoy the review and can help you see what these pads can do!

    Thanks for this and I appreciate it. The part I don't get is the actual settings in the Multipad to make the hi-hat cymbal and controller pedal work like this. The connections are the part I already get. :)

    Have you considered turning the Roland bar trigger around and attaching it to your snare directly?

    • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum  7 месяцев назад +1

      I tried that at first, but the module is super duper sensitive, so when I tried to play the drum with the bar trigger it was triggering the snare a lot. So I put it on separately. I ended up returning the BT1 only because I wanted to use that money to purchase something else. It worked great, but I didn’t really need it.

  • @Digiphex
    @Digiphex 7 месяцев назад +1

    Why do you need a snare and hit separate? Is there some advantage over the Alesis pads?

    • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum  7 месяцев назад +1

      I was using the bottom right pad for the hat, but ultimately used the cymbal pad to take the pressure off of that pad. Might not need to worry too much about that, but I want to preserve the module pads as much as I can. The snare is a mesh head so I like the way it feels better and you definitely get better triggering from using external trigger. Plus it’s dual zone so you can get head and rim, more like a real drum.

    Cool vid. Thanks. I wanted to do something similar so i bought a PDX-100. Issue is that I cannot get the rim sound to NOT trigger when i hit the mesh. • @sabadrum

    Nice playing, thanks for the demo. Is the machine gunning on the rolls a result of the samples, or is the unit not that velocity sensitive on the triggering? Thanks.

    • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum  7 месяцев назад +1

      I want to say it’s from the samples, cause the machine gunning does vary, atleast to my ears, from sample to sample. It sucks, but the samples themselves are so good that it actually doesn’t bother me, at least for now lol small price to pay for a unit that is priced so well and especially since most of these pads all machine gun, including the spd sx pro.

    • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum  3 месяца назад

      In the trigger functions, which I believe is under ‘Utility’, you need to make sure your pad is set to head and rim, so it picks up 2 triggers. Also make sure you are plugged into one of the inputs in the back that has 2 numbers, not 1. I believe it’s 2/3 and 4/5. I know for a fact that input 1 is only for single trigger pads.

      Thanks man! KT10 works great on it, the KT9 will also work. The only thing that won't work is a Roland or Yamaha hi hat controller, but Alesis obviously will work, and it works great! Correct! The VH10 absolutely does not work, as I tried it. I literally just spoke to Alesis support, and they told me other hat controllers on a stand other than Roland should work, but it's not recommended to use a hat on a stand for a strike multipad. Even on a Roland Octapad, the hat on a stand wasn't always accurate, so it's not the best overall for the multipads. • @sabadrum
      @sabadrum  7 месяцев назад

      There are 3 external trigger inputs in the back of the machine, not including the hi hat control trigger. Any bass drum pad with a piezo sensor will work, so this means virtually all of them. The exception are hi hat controllers that are switch pedals. I use a Yamaha KP65 and I have a Roland KT-10 that also works. You plug the kick tower or pedal into any of the 3 inputs, 2 are dual trigger and 1 is single trigger. The cheapest and quietest option is probably the Yamaha KU100. Hope this helps!

      Got it! OK, there are four inputs for triggering in on the back of strike multipad. One is single zone and two are dual zone. I believe it's 1, then 2/3, then 4/5. The last input is for hi hat control. You would connect the bass drum pad to whichever of the three inputs you want. I keep my bass drum on the single zone and have the snare hooked up to one of the dual zone triggers. If you use a dual zone snare and a bass drum on the single zone trigger, you're free to have another dual zone pad or split it so you have 2 single zone pads for the last remaining dual zone input, or for whatever else you want.
