@ I don’t have the quiet pads anymore as I had to send them back to DolbyDrums. When I used a dual zone cymbal as a hi hat pad with the Strike Multipad, I never set it up for dual zone cause I didn’t need it, and it would have been a waste of a trigger. It didn’t make a big difference having an extra zone cause when I hit the rim of the pad it still made a sound. It wasn’t a separate rim sound, but it still felt like a hi hat if that makes sense. I think you could easily get 2 zones from the strike as a regular cymbal though, bow and edge.

Hi, thanks for the video! I have the same kit and I love it! I'm just struggling with the kick. I have always 'buried the beater' when playing and that's been completely fine for me on a regular kit. I also like to go 'Heel-Toe' for my doubles. On this kit, the bass pad is so bouncy that whenever I bury the beater, it double bounces and registers two kicks. In your opinion, is that a pedal issue (tension etc.) or is it just my weak technique or should I consider changing from burying the beater. Thanks!

I would highly advise looking into Lemon drum pads, cause they are inexpensive and very close in quality to Roland. There are only 4 trigger inputs, so although you can get a full kit, you have to be creative if you want a dual zone pad for your snare. To do that, you have to split the toms (need a y cable) with one trigger, and split the hi hat cymbal only with either the kick or the cymbal pad.

@@lobbyrobby the Roland is fabulous! That was the first e-kit I owned as well. I would compare it to the NuX-DM8 that I talked about in price and features, with one of the main differences being that the NuX has the multi channel USB recording.

I unfortunately do not agree with your list. All the e-kits on your list are budget friendly but not very good. All the e-kits you say you would buy in 2024 I would avoid no matter what the year is. Donner is a company specializing in budget friendly e-kits made in a factory in China that makes lots of e-kits and other things for all kinds of companies. Donner is not known for their quality, triggering accuracy, sensitivity, overall playability, and the internal sounds are horrible and there is not much edditing to make the sounds much better. Alesis is a budget friendly company that atleast makes better e-kits than Donner. The Crimson Ii SE is better than its predisesor but not an e-kit I would recommend. The Alesis Strike Pro Se or the Alesis Strata Prime e-kits I would recommend as they play and function like a drum set should. The NU-X-DM8 is another e-kit made cheaply in a factory in China. This kit is only slightly better than the Donner and another e-kit I could never recommend. I am not really sure how or why you think these are good e-kits you would buy? You mentioned what you liked and disliked about them but there are so many better e-kits out there not sure why you chose e-kits most concider toys of what a drum set should be. As a drummer or one who wants to learn to play drums properly would want an e-kit that does perform, play, and sound like an actual accustic set. I get price is a big factor but on the 3 e-kits you choose you can only get so far before wanting to upgrade or buy a better e-kit. I think just buying a good high-end e-kit is the way to go. You can learn anything on them. They have all the zones, they trigger fantastically. The sizes are more accustic like and not toy sizes. Lastly the internal sounds will be very good. If you want to learn guitar do you start with a toy guitar? Then why start with a toy of a drum set. If you learn drums on your 3 picks and then go to play an accustic drum set or a high-end e-kit you will find you can not play as well and will have to learn how a proper drum kit plays as there will be a relearning curve. Just get a good higher-end e-kit that functions like an actual drum set and avoid wasting your money on budget friendly toys.

@@Iamadrummer hey man, this list is for people who want to get an affordable kit and cannot buy a Roland or a Efnote, and are not complete dorks like me who research for hours every e-drum module and pad combination. And yes, I think at least one of these is a better buy than a low end Roland. And have you seen the Drumtec video of Ralph playing the Alesis Crimson? It’s better quality than you think. Cheers!

The Aleisis pads are garbage, the Strike is buggy and both are unsupported by Inmusic. The pads on the Roland SPD20 PRO are great! Buzz rolls, no problem. Ebay price is under $550.00 usd shipped. Lots of features and sounds. I favor the 4x4 octapad style layout. There is a reason it is so popular in India, land of the "pad pro players". I also love my Kat DITI Hybrikit, if you can afford it, its the OG. The gs extended module built into the DITI is the best.

@@ElectroPercs the upper 3 rim pads on the SPD SX are AWFUL too. They made improvements with the PRO but out of many people’s price range and some people don’t need all of the stuff it does.

Thanks for your video. I have a question. On an acoustic drum set when you bang a snare with two sticks you get the obvious sound. Is that sound achievable on the Samplepad Pro? For example, can you program two pads to act as snares? Or is the pad sensitive enough to do it with one pad? Thanks.

@@grantrushtonmusic when you bring in your own samples, the pads (external and on the pad itself) can be velocity sensitive, so you can have 2 sounds per pad and the sound changes once you hit a set velocity. But again, this is only a feature that is available with uploaded samples

@ So you can only get a double snare with samples, you’re saying?

Can you use a Roland KT-10 Kick Trigger Pedal or do you recommend another brand? I see the Roland mesh snare is okay to use?
