would love to see a video of these in action, maybe comparing doing the same technique on each eye but with different brushes? i think that would be super helpful!
Might think I'm crazy but I'm a painter and I actually use a few paint brushes! These aren't cheep brushes they are nice and I swear they work far better than any makeup brushes I've ever used! If anyone wants to know I'll put the ones I use in the comments. These brushes I use for makeup I've never used them with paint I bought extra ones to use for makeup. One day I left my brushes at my sisters and had to use something had these new paint brushes and was amazed!

Yes!! Listen, smaller, more precise brushes are a game-changer if you have hooded eyes or just not a lot of space, so I appreciate this video a lot. I got the tiniest fluffy blender I’ve ever seen, the sigma E36, in the mail yesterday, and I am absolutely delighted at how itty bitty this thing is 😆 Very excited to put it to use. It’s literally like a 1.5cm long blending brush that is small/narrow enough for my bottom lid.
I love the way you speak about makeup and makeup tools. I can definitley tell that youre a painter. I'm a painter as well and it really helps that you can explain makeup techniques and tools in the way that someone might approach a painting or a sculpture.
noted, noted, noted! GIRL, YOU MUST tell us what magic combination of skills and product you applied on your lips, i tried to recreate it with something that i have and i thought its similar and even if it didnt turned out as yours exactly, its still looks amazing. YOU are amazing. Thank you❤️
Tiny brushes rock -- this round-up was great -- that BK Beauty brush is now on my list. Another must have tiny brush is the *Smith SMALL Arrowhead* brush. That brush is phenomenal -- lays down, blends, precision in the crease, lower lashline, soft eyelining.
You are the only RUclipsr that makes videos on topics exactly I need to know about and I can’t thank you enough for that. You are like a big sister I never had. ❤
Stilazzi has tiny fluff brushes, a small shader, and a precision crease blender for about half the price. It's not exactly the same but the brushes are def very small
Can you do a full rundown of like.... ALL brushes?? This was SO helpful. I NEVER do eye make up because I simply don't understand how to apply it for my eyes. This was great! Brushes and why they're shaped the way they are has confounded me... and I'm 45, these are things I should know lol
Love this kind of specialized video! Maybe you could make several in different categories, like "favorite contour/highlighter /bronzer /blushes". It would be neat to have it all in one place.
Thank you for demonstrating how you use different brushes without also applying product. I’m only six minutes into the video and am struck how I can see what I’ve been doing wrong. You are so talented.
Thank you so much for this. My eyes are extremely hooded and my brushes are always too big. My eyeshadow easily gets too blown out and I can never get into the corners of my eyes with enough detail and I always have to clean it up. This is so helpful.
so… i just watched this for the 2nd time and feel like i need to share one more thing. i feel like you’re speaking directly to me. i have been _going through it!_ with my make up in the last 6 months. so much frustration and so many tears. thank you alex, for everything that you do. you’re helping me more than it’s possible to explain in a comment.
Thank you so much, Alex. I have been following you from the UK for almost a year now and this video has compelled me to thank you. I love to find out the best tools as I have found they change your makeup life and I have hooded eyes. Being 40, I am having to learn new techniques to get around loose skin. Loving your work 😘
I never was one for make-up until quarantine. Not that I had anything against it, I just never picked it up. On Pinterest I came across very colorful eyeshadows and such and started to experiment. It was a lot of fun. After a while I discovered your videos and they made me able to actually understand technique and why to do certain things or not (I hope that part makes sense lol). Anyways, I wanted to thank you for giving me so much insight in a new hobby I gained, because it gave me more knowledge about it, but also more confidence to experiment. It really broadened my view of possibilities. Also thank you for being so all-inclusive as possible, it is something that is still too rare on the internet, but so important!
I love these explanatory videos. I really need them. I never noticed that the brushes' size matters so much, although I watch so many makeup tutorials! Thanks for upping my make up game!
As someone who really has a hard time self-promoting, congratulations on pushing yourself to ask people to like, subscribe, and so on. Also, this was very helpful, especially when you also comment on the brush hair in detail, like the density, stiffness... I'll come back to this for some purchases!
I had problems with blending eyeshadow so bought some cheap ones from amazon and they are ti y tiny but actually perfect for getting the perfect look and with your tutorial my looks are banging ❤❤
This is so great. Its really helpful to get a breakdown of how one might use different sizes and shapes. AND what might be missing from my brush collection. Thank you!!! Love your videos x
Always known that I have hooded eyes (without a name for it...) But these tutorials and information are just game changing. I've been working with what I've got, which is awesome hooded eyes, but the information you shared about color and brushes etc. Thank you! You made me refresh my makeup drawer and get up in the morning wanting to put some extra effort because it's fun again.
That is so eye-opening, pun intended! I have never paid attention to the size of the brush too much, for me "blending brush" == Mac217 (it was a hit when I bought it, how is it now OLD-fashioned, I cannot 😂). Thank you Alex 😘
Tiny brushes changed the way I apply makeup. I've also come to realize the quality of the brush plays a lot into it also, at least for me. I use Rephr, Sonia G, Chikuhudo the most, especially if I'm using Pat McGrath and a few other formulas. Sigma is also great, BK Beauty is great. I really like Blend Bunny brushes, most of hers are great for small and/or hooded eyes. I threw out all my value set brushes, they just aren't the same once you start using higher quality brushes. At least in my experience.
Oh that tiny angled brush looks amazing. One of my favorite brushes like that is rouge bunny rouge liner brush. I wish I could get it again. So fine, soft. Perfect detail brush.
10:40 These are my type of brushes. I love to use small brushes like those for under the eyes, the "aegyo sal" and on my lash line. The ones I have are just as small but not as stiff
Such a fan of tiny brushes, detail brushes and brushes for hooded eyes - even though my eyes aren’t hooded. I love doing my eye makeup. Blending. Using different shades and techniques- and these kinds of brushes are so great for that. For making impact and being direct. I wish these kinds of brushes were easier to find. They are everything. ❤❤
I'm so glad I recently found your channel, you really have a gift for teaching. After just a few videos I feel like I have a better understanding. My eyes are slightly hooded like yours and I've never had good results with eyeshadow.
YES I LOVE PENCIL BRUSHES I literally bought three different brushes trying to replicate one I loved that had started peeling on the handle. Whenever I see a good pencil brush, I buy it. The Morphe V203 is my current favorite.
I have a few tiny brushes from the sephora line that I've been really happy with, still have a bunch of real techniques brushes I got 5+ years ago. Thanks for the tips, always helpful
i just got the rephr #14 and it's a gamechanger for my always-been-slightly-hooded-but-now-aging eyelids. transition shade now looks like a transition shade, instead of an all-over shade. \o/
OMG - why didn't I ever think of this before???? I have the Mac brushes that everyone talks about and powder and makeup just fly all over my face, getting in the crease is a nightmare. Wow -- thank you!

Hey Alex! Thank you so much for all of your videos. This vid has changed the way I do makeup! Thanks for your influence on small or hooded eyes, especially on the brush guidance you provide. I went to Sigma and picked up some essentials, much of them from these links! Thanks a million 😊
Great explanations. Do you remember one of your first videos was an eyeshadow brush video with only 3 brushes to do your whole look? That was also a great video on keeping it simple in the ever growing world of brushes. I love brushes and i buy way too many of them....but they are so much fun!
I’m really hoping that you are going to come out with your own line of brushes. It’s a natural fit for you. I trust you enough to buy them, should you ever do that, and I’m not a person who trusts easily.❤❤❤
I really do need some small brushes. I have hooded eyes and it is so challenging for me especially when you're trying to find something affordable 💙💛❤💚💜
Thank you so much for all your videos about hooded eyes, my lids are hooooooooded. Like TWO creases hooded. Half asleep/Resting Bitch Face hooded. Your videos have been a game changer for my eye makeup!

I need to start collecting small brushes, I have Almond shaped hooded eyes, and it's so hard to connect eyeliner. Ugh lol I just wing it and go smokey.
Thank you sooooo much for this video! I started making a list of all the brushes you used on hooded and smaller eyes in previous videos. It's like you read my mind!! This video is everything!!!!
Thank u sooo much for this detailed video!!! I have mature, hooded eyes (due to fold) with minimal lid space. You covered it perfectly ! Ive had to bounce around so many channels but none have been as thorough as yours. I've already purchased the ones you suggested ! Could u do a video on face brushes? Bless you hon ❤😊
Would love to see you actually use all of these......especially the smallest of them. Also, off topic......Would you consider doing a segment on a trip to the salon? Would love to see your cut and color from start to finish. Your cut and color are awesome! I did see the previous one which was your first time going this short. This was great, but didn't show the cut in detail. You have definitely found your cut and color for a lifetime.....that is hard to do. It totally defines your face. Thanks for all your videos....watch them all!
I loved this video so much. It’s super helpful being able to learn so much from someone who knows so much and is wanting to help others. Also want to say that I love your nails, and the color looks so good against your skin color❤you’re always insterestung and fun to listen to
Would 100% agree smaller brushes for hooded eyes are so much better. I have very hooded eyes and it’s these type of brushes that give me the looks I’m going for. They also they are very versatile for other parts of your face. I would say that there is no one brand that will give you everything, so REFR, Sigma and even the smaller Morphe brushes (when you are on a budget) are great choices.
Surprised nobody asked you about your gorgeous earrings 😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥 where did you get them ?🙏 and also your lips 👄 and lipstick 💄 so beautiful. What color and brand is that?
