This song was inspired by 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 and Romans 12:1-2. In light of the sacrificial love that Jesus showed us, this is true worship - to offer our lives, even our physical bodies, and commit all that we are back to God. The Holy Spirit dwells within everyone who has put their trust and faith in Jesus, so it only makes sense that we should honor and care for them and not use our bodies for evil. This is a willful response to experiencing God's mercy and grace and not a means to appease God. Jesus did what we could not do for ourselves, so we devote ourselves to him out of gratitude for paying a spiritual debt we could not pay.
