You have no idea how mnt times I listened to that one piece music video where at the end luffy says that and I always yelled just like her at the end like a crew member. Thank you Oda I can't put into words how much your work means to me and so many others truly a master of his craft and one of the greats of humankind to ever write a story
Totally expected the crying. This episode is just so wholesome and heartfelt that it's impossible not to. Whether its the girl who Nami inspired to live freely or the marine who Luffy inspired to save his family. This plays so much into the overarching theme of One Piece regarding 'Inherited Will.' Thoughts and ideas can be passed on, even when we don't intend to and that's what happened here as we get a glimpse of the world through the eyes of these civilians. It also really makes you appreciate the nameless marines who are forced to contend with the superpowered monsters of the world like the Yonko, the Seven Warlords, the Admirals and the Strawhats. I also loved how the show kind of teased some groups of fans like the "power scalers" in the bar arguing about who the best swordsman was. Or the nami theory fan who came up with a crackpot theory about sea cucumber spawning cycles, but still managed to come to the correct conclusion using her incorrect method. This wasn't just a fan letter, it was a love letter to the fans and helped express the hope and wonder we feel every day following this epic journey with Luffy and his nakama!
I just watched this with my husband since I hadn’t seen it yet. One Piece has me crying again 😭 this was such a beautifully done episode. That shot of Ace and Luffy took me out as well as her seeing Nami sailing away. Ahh 😭🩵
This entire thing was beautiful . Really liked the story with the brothers but the ending when she tore up the letter and finally saw Nami made me emotional. I really hope we see her again some day.
they are remastering Fishman Island to be shorter to let Oda get the next arc get ahead and some suspect they'll do this for all the Post-Timeskip arcs.
Ayyyy! I was waiting for this one! It's absolutely stunning how something I didn't even anticipate, came out of nowhere and released to suddenly become one of THE best pieces of One Piece media for me out of the entire series, movies, and everything... Megumi Ishitani was already becoming a One Piece household name thanks to her efforts on 1015 (you'll see when you get there), but she established herself as a director LEGEND with this one, imo...
This short just made me want to see a spin off of One Piece, but with normal characters, slice of life type see the point of view of some citizen of Arabasta, of some carpenter of Water 7, someone who lost his shadow because moria of some person who was turned into a toy in dressrosa "other pieces" you could call it ,the success would be assured
Legitimately one of the best episodes of One Piece and it didn't even need to revolve around the Straw Hats. Just ordinary people trying to live their lives to the fullest.
This special episode has been one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, it reflects many indescribable feelings, so avoiding shedding tears is impossible. Definitely, "the one piece is real." Postscript: I hope my comment can be understood since I don't know any English and I had to use Google.😅
I didn't expect anything from this but god damn, it's one of the best episodes of One Piece, maybe even anime as a whole, ever. Megumi Ishitani is a gem. Her work so far has been nothing less than spectacular.
Seriously, I had no expectations going in, the little trailer they released did not do it justice, but as we're already seeing the word of mouth on this special is absolutely crazy. Seeing Marineford from the perspective of an average marine was just insane. I didn't expect to tear up but I did so more than once. It has been such a good year for One Piece.
This ep is the reason why OP will always hold a really really special place in my heart and ill forever be a hardcore op fan! 😭❤The beautiful Worldbuilding, even the background characters getting their shine, gorgeous visual storytelling, and emotions being invoked even in the simplest of things is simply a feeling and experience ill never ever forget with ONE PIECE
How ….. like hooooow in 1 episode they made me care for randoms out of nowhere , made me laugh because I connect with the scenes and made me emotional with that last scene …….
I've watched this episode multiple times including the reactions and it wasnt until now that I realized, THEY DIDN'T HAVE NAMES. We didn't know their names. One Piece (and the Strawhat crew) inspires many unnamed people. No one knows them. The Strawhat crew doesn't know them. Oda doesn't know us. But they all have a special spot in our hearts. This is the best self-insert episode ever.
Agree. I just appreciate the OP team as a whole because they gave importance to the side characters. Other stories just dispose of the other characters (even minor villains) if they are not necessary to the main story/characters. It could be because of its length, but it's well written.
@@Marzi29 Oda did not write but he knows about the novels and also guiding them on the writing hence I consider this as canon material. this is also why it's an episode in the anime

Tojla you'd cry! I definitely did not expect to get emotional over this, but it's very clearly a love letter to fans. Since you're trying not to get spoiled, You don't get the same level of fan interaction that those of us who are caught up do, but there was a lot of representation in there of fans. I could watch a whole mini series of this. Most of what I watched yesterday was reactions to this specific episode. How I was not completely dehydrated before I went to bed, I do not know.
It feels so weird seeing this fan letter when 2 years ago I said its too long to get into one piece. But then slowly I started and stopped at Syrup Village before getting back into it. I kept going until now where I’ve caught up since January and seeing this fan letter remind me why I fell in love with the series made me emotional. Just the heart and soul the straw hats have and the impact they have in the world they live in and ours too.
Even a special like this can make us cry! I can confidently say that I haven't watched half of one piece cause my eyes were blurry for crying most of the show.
This was an interesting project to animate for the anime’s 25th anniversary which is based on One Piece novel Straw Hat Stories written by Tomohito Ohsaki where it focuses on a person in the world as they learn about 1 of the Straw Hats, but this takes a few of them (Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Chopper, & Franky) & merge them together taking place at the Return to Sabaody - Luffy was with the 2 brother Marines (older brother voiced by Yasuyuki Kase the voice of Big News Morgans while younger is voiced by Hiroki Takahashi Queen & Bill), but there is a bit of a change with them now stationed in Sabaody - Zoro was the drunk men in the bar talking about who is the strongest swordsman, but this took place in Dressrosa & the 3 are voiced by Yasuhiro Takato (voices Bepo, Zepo, Buffalo, Butchie, Mr.9, Peterman, Satori, Hotori & Kotori), Ryouta Takeuchi (voices Bavarois), & Takuya Kirimoto (voices Cracker) - Nami was with the little girl who is fan of cool female pirates (in the novel it was a 20 year old man), & she is voiced by Kokoro Kikuchi who is the voice for Toko & Reina from One Piece - Chopper was with the Marine who can’t help find Chopper cute (voiced by Jiro Saito who also voices Orlumbus, Snack, & Rampo) & known as the Benevolent King of the Waves, but they changes this with instead of being a simple warship to a toxic substance to destroy ship’s coating & that instead of the little girl delaying them it was the Kuja Pirates - Franky was the woman in the bookstore (voiced by Yuka Komatsu who also voices Sally Isntoinette & Momousagi / Gion), but in the novel she is place in Water 7 where she hears word about Franky from many citizens like the 2 boys we see in this replaces Michael & Hoichael - Now they could have done Brooks but they did not focus on a boy who went to Brook’s last concert

"Cry! Ha Ha!" (we all do in this community!) Fan Letter is basically the Prologue to the revamped Fishman Island arc, which i personally look forward to checking out. People are theorizing that Fishman Island is only the first getting revamped, because Toei has padded the hell out of arcs since the end of Marineford, these remasters will give time for Oda to complete arcs in the Manga rather than stretch chapter by chapter into multiple episodes. i hope to god that IS what they are doing, because that's a win for current watchers and new ones alike. also means that Wit Studio will only need to cover Pre-Timeskip.
I think the cherry on top was her not meeting nami. It's her being inspired and moved by Nami without ever knowing or meeting her. It mimics the viewers in a way. We can't meet the straw hats, but they still mean so much to us.
