I usually dig out 3 sides around the stump...then push 'em over.....that way you not only get your tree laid down, but you also have the stump out too. That was a very dangerous situation right there. Glad no one got hurt.

Man, I'm sitting here recovering from a fall from a 10' ladder so watching you on that ladder brings back memories, at least what I can remember, and makes me real nervous. Sitting here with staples in my head and fractures in my back hoping that the pain will eventually go away so I can do the work that I enjoy doing, has given me a new perspective. Go to the extra work, take that extra step or take the time and trouble to get the right tools to do the job right and as safe as possible. It just takes that one little slip or wrong move on that one job where, like 100 times before, you told yourself you're experienced and know you what you're doing, it's just a quick cut or climb, I'll be fine... and next thing you know, you'll be sitting here just like me.

Just watched your clear cut video. It was a great example of what happened here on my farm. I'm a little behind on your videos, glad you didn't get hurt. Just a bit of advice, put that excavator blade down it will get you a few more feet of reach in a pinch
We had a sugar maple in our front yard at The Farmhouse and it was our backstop for playing baseball and it was home plate and when they sold the farm years later people finally cut it down because it had died as I built three houses in it and drove Nails in it and Staples and fencing Staples I mean and hit it with the back several times if I got struck out and I was a kid with that maple tree and I really loved it and it was really kind of a bummer to see it cut down and gone when I went back there. It was the biggest maple tree you can have it was huge and always turn red and orange in the fall is so beautiful and we made maple syrup out of it and everything when we were younger and I missed the farm Days by really miss that maple tree so this is kind of reminiscing back for me

On board with that tree being a piece of crap!! Till that tree got on Tiny you really can’t tell how big that sucker is!! Good thing you didn’t slip off for sure, love it when you started climbing up and rear wheels digging in 🥴💪💪👍🇺🇸
I see that situation a bit different. Of course you want to cut limbs on the ground, sometimes you need an arborist, but here i think he didn't want to remove the whole tree at first, but only a couple of limbs especially that huge growing over a tank or he was just afraid that when he takes a tree down it'll smash that tank... Maybe i misunderstood something... The other thing is... When you have a beautiful lawn, you don't wanna make holes in it when a tree comes down and pushes its limbs into the ground... But as we can see that fear about a tank smashing ended up not so nice.
depending where he's at, the buried utilities may be pretty shallow and a big branch could smash right down into them, plus it tears up the yard nastily.
All the best viral vidjas start out with grabbing a ladder and a saw!😮😮 That was one Big Ole Tree...Gonna take awhile to burn this stump out. Can you show us again how the rod and piston works?!?!🤣🤣
Thanks Wade, watching this convinced me to abandon my half-fast plan for the big, 1/2 dead Live-oak tree close to my well-house. May have to use the work harder version, that "smarter idea" ain't as smart on second thought as it might have seemed.
Wade watching this reminds of a video I watched a long time ago and it was titled "Why do women live longer than men?". I'm pretty sure your video of cutting down that oak would fit right in.🤔😏😂 Oh well, at least you had the boys stay far away and you caught on video 👍👍. Plus nobody got hurt 😉😏
That big limb overhanging the propane tank...next time, throw a 1" line over the far end of that limb and pull it off the tree. You'll be using the leverage of the limb itself against the trunk, and it will snap right off. It's always better to pull than push.
I am gonna tell you right now, bib overalls are probably the only thing I will ever use when it comes to working in the field. Comfort and storage of odd items are a necessity and I ain't found a better bit of clothing to compare. And it hides my gut somewhat 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Thought that was DP in the excavator. Was scared you were going to try to take the excavator up the ladder to get more leverage to push the limb off the tree. You know all that utilities you were worried about can be replaced or fixed. why didn’t you run a cable up high and pull it instead of trying to push? Wade that’s a beautiful place you have on top of the little hill, except for DP living so close. Enjoyed watching, stay safe
I agree, could have used a cable, could have cabled to one of those other small trees and pulled with a cheap cable hoist instead of using a zillion $'s worth of equipment. I have done that kind of thing many times.
It'd be sad if you can't get at least a little bit of lumber out of it to make momma a nice table from wood that grew on your Homestead. Red Oak sure is pretty wood.hase some crotch markings and other features in the grain. It also makes furniture sturdy enough to survive a couple of rambunctious boys. Especially if it
Wade you need a rotobec grapple on your 308 the same kind of grapple that you have on your 321 then that way you can guide trees to where you want them to fall besides that tree is a little to much for that little 308 you need the 321
Wait I know there's not a lot of good wood left in that but I hope you make something out of it you can get some boards out of it I hope and maybe make a small bookshelf with the kids or something I think it'd be really cool you got to make something out of that tree
Not to be critical, but, holy cow you sure have a lot of equipment for that job. I have cut down a lot of tricky trees, just as big, using only (a lot smaller) chainsaw, a (taller) ladder, a cable, and a cheap manual cable hoist (2 ton). And maybe a straight bar to move really big heavy piece around manually on the ground. Burned the trees up on the spot if I could. And I do the job alone (1 man). Probably in less time than you were working on it with all your manpower and resources. If I did not burn on the spot I would load on a trailer pulled by a pickup. I would split the bigger pieces by hand with a steel wedge and a 12 pound sledge hammer. Hard work but f'ing around with all that machinery is also a lot of time, effort AND fuel.
