I sometimes just drive to the woods “JUST” to walk around a look a talk to (myself) an admirer the trees a figure when it will be a cutter log. It does a man good to relax an get back grounded. You talking about stave logs are they for making whiskey barrels We get white oak barrels for Scottish wiskey that have been used for Burbon before Then the final thing for the old barrels is bering used for fire wood Staves lids and bottoms

Has anyone tried a wired endura HD camera (maybe on a fiberglass pole) extended 6 feet above the knuckleboom cab to give a higher view when placing logs on the further side of the log truck? What some logging crews do is have a reliable? mechanic (with an assistant) come through in the evening (may not be every day), when the gear is parked to check over and maintain the equipment.
I would say it depends on the area and the buyer I've seen people buy em with knots and small diameter long as they were straight and sound paid good for em
