always set the bottom of the pipe 6" below the grade. This will allow the water to go through the pipe easier and not under it. Plus it allows a little silt in the bottom and will actually help hold it in place.
Thanks, great info. in Alaska in the spring or after a storm ya might find someone pulling the gravel out of the old rippled culverts Why? cuz there's GOLD in theme-there ripples.
I've learned a lot watching your videos and seeing rock dumped around the culvert gave me scary chills. I may be wrong but from my understanding rock is for drainage and clay is used for waterproofing. Hope the culvert works out as planned.
Id like to see the outlet. Its not 6 inches below grade actually looks shotgunned. I wonder why this pipe is so big it must be for a flood event. With all that gravel as backfill and no compaction the first big run that water will cut around that pipe. Pipes are that big for 2 reasons..... acres they drain or flood events just saying.
The amount of 'reorganisation' that goes into your business in amazing. Trust the culvert serves its purpose for a very long time. Laughed with the Dirt Perfect 18 reference - funny man Logger Wade. Hope your bout with Corona has left no after effects. Keep well.
Looking good so far nice to see the finished bridge. Nice to see everyone working together. Hope you're feeling better soon driver. Regards to the family and crew from across the pond
That pipe that came out was rolled plate and triple row hot rivet . Pre dating arc welding . I'd bet it was a recycled steam or air pressure vessel built in the 1910s when it was put in there . It sure stood up over the test of time .
Wade, it went well for whT you had to work with, you got her done., I've been involved with installing a lot of culverts, and I'm not going to critique you, cause that's not fair, we are better equipped to do those type of jobs, it's like if we went 8n to clear timber, we're not equipped like you are to do it, but we'd get it done. So in my opinion is it went well, and it's better now then when you first got there, and that's what matters
Really enjoy your videos I used to haul wood myself in the not so distant past, had a hand in building roads and bridges and hauling the wood out also and quite often loaded my own trailer. So keep up the good work it is enjoyed by me at least.!!!
When I saw the culvert roll and drop in place the only thing I thought was, the sun sun shines on every dog's a$$ once in a while. Ha. I'll take luck as well as being good. 😃
I have one almost the same size that was used, when installed. It will need replaced again within the next few years. The last one wasn't quite deep enough and doesn't hold material on top very well. Live and Learn from each experience! I am sure your project turned out just awesome, WAYDE and they are really enjoying having a wider drive!👍👍
The state of Maine would have needed 275k in permitting 125k in storm water runoff plans 2 years temporary bridges 3 flag personnel and 1.5m to do the actual job. I’d say excellent job
I'm so sorry you have/had the rona... I've been wrapped up so tight in my own chaos, sometimes, I forget there are others with troubles. A humbling sign ... I was riding in a cart at the grocery store and complaining of the pain in my back at the checkout line.. The boxer packed my bags nicely and asked if I needed a hand to the car with them. The boxer was a man half my age but crippled with scoliosis.... I remember looking up and saying out loud "Did you have to 'SLAP' so hard with the sign?" I did not get an answer but I do swear, I did hear a small chuckle...😂
thats a biggin .... we installed a 8'x10' x 25' long back in the early summer after we had some local horrific flooding ..... takes a big ole hole to eat that size culvert!
We your `peeps and people` new from the outset that you would succeed , especially with `big momma` there, nic to see all the advice given after you completed the job.
Plenty done for one days graft Wade dig18 Captain DP !!! 0430 a lie in, I know that too.... Temporary bridge did more than its fair share, I'm sure the locals appreciated the width of it !!!
So now its Etiennes constructions V Simons constructions to be PERFECT ? Big Momma the real forman got the job done. Love to Anne & the boys. .All the best for the New Year. Regards from Sydney Australia.
You need alot more seat time in that machine. The only difference in that machine and a bigger one is the size. Most of the newer ones have a system.tomwhere you can set it up for whatever name brand machine you want the controls set to
@Logger Wade Good job and nice equipment, you should have put clay under the pipe/a anti seep collar - if whater& frost gets to the underside of the pipe it rots out the bottom faster - also it can cause erosion issues due to seepage else it looks good fro meny years
I Feel Your Pain Wade, I’m Trying To Get Over The Rona Now. It Sure Had Me Miserable For The Last Week Or So, Lord Willing The Worst is Behind Me. As A Retrofit To Match Existing, IDE Say That Went As Good as Could Be Expected. It Would Be Nice To See The Finished Product at Some Point. Catch You On The Next One, Keep It Safe Out There
I'm sitting here trying to figure out why you were fighting so hard to place that big chunk of concrete with the nice wide, flat, bottom in there upside down 🤔
Oh oh, this Experiment, a little old rusty Bridge to strengthen is go in the Pants. The Man all not by the Military or see not RUclips, Letsdig18 or Dirt Perfekt. So the have not Idea. A help Cry, and you come and help. You make a Good Job. Greeting 🇦🇹
If you could come by a 40 or 80' rail flat car - without wheels - that would span creeks nicely and get toted with a semi trailer. Maybe they have one with damage and is destined to the scrap yard. Now you need a blue tooth camera to a screen in the cab - to see the work in the hole easier.
An engineer would be a. Good pre-construction addition. Hike the expense initially would be higher I suggest the additional prep and planning, material cost in concrete, length would be safer and more durable.
you never back fill a pipe with stone. doing so is the fastest way to have it wash out, water runs though the stone taking dirt with it, before you know it it is totally gone, also the pipe gets it support from the solid back fill and most of all the covering over top, for a pipe that size must have minimum of 5 feet of solid cover over the top of the pipe, looking at the video it looks like you are luck if you have 2 feet of cover witch is fine for cars and pick up, but with heavy loads it will cave in. it also looks like it sitting way above the bottom of the creek,, it should be a good 6 inchs below the bottom. way to much equipment on this job but the one thing needed, a compactor know were to be seen or used, no need for that loader or mini ex, one peace floated in is all thats needed,
Back in the day we would just throw some trees in and cross back and forth but all that is changed now u kindly got to do what they tell u u got to do or get into a lot of trouble one
It looked like you got the job done . is it perfect no but you don't do this type of work daily. if you do another one I bet it will be a lot better. in the end it got done you worked another day with Mom and Dad , you gave the customer a wider crossing and if goes bad you will make it better.

Nice job, Wayde! Lol. Captain Dirt Perfect 18 Kleeman did a good job. No doubt the crossing will be much better than the old.
That pipe that came out was rolled plate and triple row hot rivet . Pre dating arc welding . I'd bet it was a recycled steam or air pressure vessel built in the 1910s when it was put in there . It sure stood up over the test of time .
My guess would be steam boiler parts. Really common to see around northeast
Wade great video! Thanks for sharing! Kevin

Wade, I bet DP and letsdig18 are jealous of your digging director down in the hole. Lol
Water is wicked smart. She find the smallest opening to erode to the size of you know what! Ha. My lord she smart!!
Heck yes Sir.. thanks for sharing..
Thanks Wade for the great video even though sick you did just fine.
"Captain Dirt Perfect 18 Kleeman" Works a lot behind the scenes ☺

What are the brand of them earmuffs your wearing?
Is that a Contech corrugated metal pipe culvert?
Introducing 'Wade Engineering and Construction Company'
Ideally, the lip of the inlet should be below the existing flowline. Makes it much harder for water to undermine.
Sorry you are ill, but the laugh is still fantastic.
Good job 👍
Wade, how many times to people to you that you remind them of actor Will Ferrell?? Your laugh cracks me up!

Looks like the good goobity goober showed up to visit! Haha
Psst the coast is clear, Officer Hoover is at the other side of town?
HELLO LOGGER WADE ITS IS RANDY AND I LIKE U VIDEO IS COOL THANKS LOGGER WADE FRIENDS RANDY
What was wrong with the concrete bridge that was upstream from this temporary bridge? All it seemed to be missing was the dirt pushed up to it
That's someone else's driveway.
The temporary bridge was only to support logging trucks over a very old culvert that was too weak and too narrow.
I hope you get better and get rid of your pink 👁 God bless you love your videos.

I'm sitting here trying to figure out why you were fighting so hard to place that big chunk of concrete with the nice wide, flat, bottom in there upside down 🤔
Yeah I was thinking the same thing. He had the thing upside down.
I figured they wanted it to sut with an inward lean to hold up the rock they were gonna pile on it later.
Did you get your shots
Officer Hoover is not gonna be happy about your seatbelt 🙈😂
Captain DP18? Where can I find that RUclips channel Tater? Culvert is looking good
Not bad Wade but should have put it a little deeper down.
Oh oh, this Experiment, a little old rusty Bridge to strengthen is go in the Pants. The Man all not by the Military or see not RUclips, Letsdig18 or Dirt Perfekt. So the have not Idea. A help Cry, and you come and help. You make a Good Job. Greeting 🇦🇹
Some advice tater next time hire Dirt Perfect to do the install. Hahaha. Just kidding. Looks good
Cats on their tippie toes is always a hoot, mechanical or feline :)
Let's dig 18 would be proud
Nice job
Home 👍 YES
Thought you would have got dirt perfect in to do that job for you
Better watch out Wade, you might end up liking dirt work more than tree work if you ain't careful.
That is scientifically impossible.
@@oldtimerf7602 Ah, yes...but, stranger things have been known to happen. Even though I only kid about it.
You keep operating like that, we are going to have to call you Jerry of the mini-ex
You’re correct, COVID is a huge inconvenience my wife and both twins age 12 have it in my house. Miraculously I haven’t caught it …………. Yet
Looks like it should be lower! Hope it works!

Pipelayer Wade.
Need to add 4 feet to culvert and place it BELOW the water levels the creek so it does not undermine the culvert.
Only advice I would have for you is next time invite Dirt Perfect for lunch.😂
Wade that Piece of Pipe that You Took out, it Looks like a Piece of old Drilling Rig Pipe
That piece of steel pipe you pulled out was much stronger than what you replaced it with
I gotta remove and load a 96in.x 16ft. culvert 8 gage, not sure if I'm up for it!🤣
Haha boy thats a whopper good luck
Comedy quips for the week: "Captain Dirt Perfect 18 Cleeman. What's important is if anything goes wrong we don't miss it." When do you open in Vegas?
And I see your hands on Mom saves you some fuel throwing rocks and fill.
The pipe is in there. It’s a dang sure sight better than what y’all took out.
You’re supposed to have on orange vests
Deja vu??
DP would be proud but you needed Man Behind The Scene to help you with the rocks
The installtion was a lucky drop, turned out okay!
Why has the lady do all the heavy work, while a bunch of blokes are standing there with their hands in their pockets ???
