That thing is as Bearcat as it could possibly be, it flies like, sounds like, lands like, and obviously has the appearance and essence of the mighty Bearcat - what an absolute beauty!

Thankyou and i totally agree! It really does have the attitude of the real deal. Maybe more than any other f8f model ive seen before :)

i have an 88 inch spitfire and wheel mounts are always moving around..... what a nice build and great paint work to make a very original model...super cool and some good landings.
Landings are the addictive part of the flying of these big boys....for me i always make sure i have a good approach and not a last minute turn into the approach...only do this when you really know your model. Know how slow your plane flies with flaps on and do this up at a safe speed and try to get the point when it does not respond or close to the stall as this is kinda what you need to understand and know when you do make great landings. For me i get the approach tight with flaps and slightly more power on once comitted to the approach and when putting flaps on i make sure i am descending then try very hard to slowly come down and getting a nice flat slow touchdown gently pushing the elevator forward as the plane will naturally go back on its tail creating lift at the time u dont want it....once it has nailed the landing you can also power up a bit for good landing control when it has been level flown onto the ground rather then flopping it onto the ground nose up which can also be done but not for me. Unless you draw out an imaginary landing path and curve in your head before attempting landing i really dont think it can ever be anything other than hit and miss.... not trying to tell you how to suck eggs but just my thoughts on landings..... apologies for a long comment but its the big attraction of heavy fixed wing.

Your flight routine is very gracefully executed. Kinda reminds me of watching Howard Pardue’s demonstrations.

Thanks! I base my manuvers on one of steve hintons f8f demos. Sadly i never got to see pardue fly his in person

@@hechtspeed Steve is likely a better reference. I was fortunate enough to get to know Howard personally in the early 90’s when I was doing a lot of air to air photography. He practiced at his home field in Breckenridge TX, and I witnessed several of those, as well as his shows. I have seen Steve do many great demos, but just not in the F8.

Beautiful model and flight. Inspiring stuff. I know it's just lens compression but a couple of those hills seemed very close..Guessing you get used to it 🙂 Great work

Wicked. Sounds even better with that prop. Gotta put brakes on it now. Friction might work like you said though. Great flying bro. That three point look right! Glad you got the gear worked out.

@@ModelAV8RChannel thanks dude! Yeah i just reworked the tail wheel. I can add as much friction as i want to it. Dont want to put too much on the mains because it will hammer them on touchdown. I need to work on getting the idle lower too

Very very impressive! I'm sure you'll fix the tailwheel issue easily, but what a lovely job you made of this, flies beautifully neutral too. 👍👍👍

I have been watching you build and fly your warbirds for awhile now. And this Plane just looks amazing. I love the fact that you put spring loaded cowl flaps on it. Sad that you had those problems but, better now then in competition. Where everything counts.
Can you put adjustable brakes on it for taxiing and then fully off for taking and landing? Or would that be too complicated??
Not sure if I have ever seen or heard of anything like that before, atleast for a prop aircraft.
Anyway, just a very Beautiful piece of art that your flying.. I am partial to Navy aircraft as well, since I was in the Navy thanks to Top Gun back in the day. Lol
I hope that you get that figured out soon. Till the next one posted. Keep them flying..
P.s. I hate when the wind shifts when your about to land. I have that happen to me more than once or twice in my life. And had my share of mishaps because of that. I never had formal training flying. But, that’s been almost 35 years ago.
I don’t get out as much as I used to.
Too many aches and pains right now. Waiting for the VA to figure out what is going on.
