Same, I superjump at them even out of ult and take them out, if no one on my team is suited to dive her. No widowmakers are gonna mess with my air clearance when I'm mercy

Also if sombra is invisible and the enemy widow uses her ult, "detected" will show up on the screen so when it goes away you can warn your team that the ult is over

As a Lucio main, I can tell you that Widowmaker is a priority target. When I see a Widowmaker I'm like "Oo widow I'll go get her right now!!!!"
I give widow one chance and if she dinks my ass it's all out from there on. Either you switch or we both gonna play in ur spawn lol
then u get em 1 shot and there stupid healer saves em and they think there good 😭💀
what makes Winston also good against widow is that his bubble cuts off any LOS for widow if he shields his entire team, making it difficult for the Widow to get a pick
Other way around. If you bubble on top of the Widowmaker, now she's completely cut off from her supports, and she can' fire at anyone outside of it.
It isn't ALWAYS the play, but keeping it in mind as an option is crucial. This works against most high value targets as well. The only hero in the game who can reliably heal through barriers is Mercy, after all.

no, this shouldnt be the most of the time, the shield is more useful to mitigate CC onto you, or block peel from the enemy, not to shield 1 sightline, sigma exists and can do that

Kiriko is an underrated widow counter. Maybe not in super high ranks. But diamond and below, widows will sit there and eat kunais, it's glorious.
Omg one time I played kiri and I told my bap team mate to keep everyone up while I go around back to bully the widow. (She could hit her farther away shots, but not my sneaky kiri). Still so proud of that dude for letting me make that widow wish she could hit shots on other heroes

Honestly, the reason I love these shorts isn’t because you just give the good picks but because you explain why they are good picks with solid reasons and even telling us to not forget our other role jobs. Props to you man!
For anyone looking to counter a widow as some other heroes: Dva works great since you can boost up to high ground and you can use the matrix to eat her shots. Tracer can also be difficult to hit and can kill a widow in 2-3 clips. Wrecking ball isn't super great right now, but he is a widow's worst nightmare. You kill her almost every time. Good luck!

As a Sombra main, I am horrified that you didn't recommend pinging the Widow from invis.
Not only will this inform your team of her position in advance, giving away any element of surprise the Widow may have, but it greatly compromises Widow's position without her even knowing. This is especially useful in Widow 1v1s, where knowing the Widow's position is critical for winning the 1v1. Giving that information to your Widow for free makes her life a lot easier, and it can make the enemy Widow's life a living hell, constantly under threat from both you and a Widow who basically has Infra-Sight on her for the entire game.
Hacking her, while not as valuable as straight up killing her, will also give your team LITERAL wallhacks on her for the duration of Hack, so keep that in mind if you ever have a Widow or other Sniper on your team. If you aren't in a position to be able to assassinate her safely, going for a quick hack to compromise her position still brings a lot of value to the fight.

@@RauKnowsOW It's definitely more of a specific matchup tip, but generally as Sombra you want to be abusing the hell out of the Ping system to give your teammates valuable information on enemy positions through walls. It just happens to be EXTREMELY effective against Widow due to how she plays.
Then when you’re bad at Widowmaker like myself, it seems like everyone counters you. 😆
I'll add a little note for Sombra: try not to shoot from right behind the Widow. There are some who have their mouse at such sensitivity that are capable of getting instant 180 degrees turn kills. Granted it's not necessary common in lower ranks, but you never know. Also, beware the mine, it gives away your intentions and position.

Sigma is also great against widow. Just put your barrier in front of her face and be on the lookout of where she is. I was called a c*ckblock by a Widow once cause I kept placing my barrier in front of her with Sigma 😂😂😂
Something I've realised alot of sombras don't know, right after you start the hack you can cancel invisibility, so the moment the hack is done you are shooting.
Another tip for all heros to beat widow is know where she is at all times and do your best to stay out of here sightlines. And dont get baited into an ego battle, you will lose.
Extremely solid advice for all! Although if a widow is popping off and my team isn’t listening… you know I’ll turn my support Lucio into a dps one at least once😂

The best part of playing Kiriko is definitely dueling Widows and winning.
Why exactly? You can easily beat Kiriko with a quick headshot.

As someone recently picking up Sombra and loving her, makes sense to not hack Widow first. It gives you a damage buff but does give them time to react and jump around. Just go straight for the kill 😈

Tracer yes reaper no widow actually counters reaper. A good widow will prefire the reaper tele and it has a LOUD sound

zenyatta is also a good counter for widow since she's pretty much a stationery target when she's scoped in, you can use angles, peeking and your orb volley to take her out pretty easily

I love how most of the counters for widow aren't "you're really good at killing her" it's just "you're really annoying to her"
If you can at all side flank without being seen: Kiriko, 2 headshots, or1headshot 2 punch/bodyshot then teleport back to the team
1. play out of sightlines
2. dive comp
3. they switch

I also find ramattra is pretty decent for tanks too, same with sigma because of how their shields can be used to block her off and force her to find a different spot and leave herself vulnerable or stay put waiting for the shield to go away(leaving her also vulnerable to being shot)

The best counter for Widow is to DDOS the server, then go to their house and personally kill them
As a widow and kiriko main. I can safely say she is honestly a counter, kiriko’s hit box is very small and hard to hs, whereas hitting kunais on an immobile widow I find easy.
One ez way is to be closer to her
Another is having a Lucio mafia member

Sometimes, if the widow stays in a certain spot and is peaking. You can use pharah to kill her by also peaking. It only takes 2 shots to kill her. If not, book her to knock her off her spot.
For Sombra, use Virus first then shoot Widow on the head as fast as you can. Even if Widowmaker runs away, the virus attack will finish her off (if you put her health low enough)
Another good option is Reaper too. Just like Sombra, he uses stealth. Use teleport to go behind Widowmaker then shoot her on the head. Reaper's shotgun blasters are lethal up close than far away.

As a member of the Lucio mafia, it is most definitely our job at all times to bully the widow. Track her down and spawn camp her all game until she swaps.
Everytime widow pops her ult I crouch up and down hoping she sees me through the walls just to play with her
If you're trying to sneak up on her, remember to watch out for the little poison traps! Widows often set them up near the entrences of their shooting spots to be notified when someone sets them off so they can escape in time!
All this works until you get TheRealKenzo on the enemy team and he headshots you in his sleep.

Another small counter that I personally enjoy as a tank main is picking Junker Queen and using my knife to drag her off and surface
the counter to widow actually depends on the rest of her team. Specifically her tank.
If she's dva pocketed or her team is playing dive, they have the option to rotate and protect the widow.
If they're playing rush, then the widow must rotate to her team to retreat.
If she has another long range dps helping her, then you must consider 2 sightlines at all time and watch for where their sightlines intersect
Mobility is the best way to counter widow.
Solo countering a widow requires you to kill her and kill someone else(get 2 elims.)
Or to neutralise all of the widow picks.
This is the brutal savage method that works with any other hero. Instead of cancelling her value, you match it and get the same amount of kills she does to never get outnumbered.
In team play, the widow
must be tracked, hunted, scouted.
as a team, you must ALWAYS know WHERE the widow is
if you don't know where the widow is, you cannot move forward and your objective is to locate the widow.
Once you've found her, you must track her rotations and who she's targeting or what sightline she wants.
you cannot engage a widow until these preparations are complete and then you at least 2 different people to get 2 angles on the widow and attack simultaneously with high dmg and and offensive cooldowns
for support i honestly prefer kiriko for anti-widow but i may be biased considering she’s my main.. but man those jiggle peek double headshots are so satisfying
Best counter is to message the other team and say "hey, can we do no widow so this game can actually be fun?" And sometimes they'll agree to it.
As a lucio main, seeing lucio with infinite boops makes me wiggle my toes with excitement

Even with a team of all dive characters, you'll still struggle to kill a widow if she gets help from her supports. So the only actually good consistent counter to Widow is having a Widow of your own.
