How To Use Mitsubishi Adaptive Cruise Control

  • This video shows you how to use Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering Steering Assist on a Mitsubishi. The vehicle used to film this was a 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander SE Black Edition.
    TWO THINGS I FORGOT TO MENTION IN THE VIDEO:
    1) The Adaptive Cruise Control System in this car DOES NOT recognize traffic lights. It is your responsibility to stop for red lights or stop signs.
    2) While the Adaptive Cruise Control system in the 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander can bring itself to a complete stop when it is locked on to the car in front of you and that car comes to a gradual stop, it is not designed for sudden stops. For example, you are out on the open highway with the Adaptive Cruise Control set at 65 MPH with no car in front of you, and up ahead in the distance you see traffic is suddenly stopped. In that case, hit the brake pedal and take control to the vehicle and slow to a safe stop. Do not rely on the Adaptive Cruise Control to stop the vehicle in a situation like that. It is not mean to be driven towards a brick wall.
    This video is for instructional purposes only. It is always the driver's responsibility to maintain control of the vehicle, pay attention to the surroundings and other vehicles, and be ready to act to prevent an accident. You are always responsible for opperating your vehicle, Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering Systems are merely driver aids and are not a replacement for paying attention.

    The really cool thing about the adaptive cruise control is that it knows the speed limit and displays it on the control panel and the cruise control can be set to speed up or slow down to the speed limit as it changes. Where is the setting to turn this on?

    Great video, is there any interaction between the adaptive cruise control system and if you set a course on nav? In other words would it follow the course that you set on nav using the adaptive cruise control?

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  Год назад +1

      Per Mitsubishi's website, if you're Outlander is equipped with Navigation and MI-PILOT Assist the car "Utilizes navigation map information to automatically adjust vehicle speed to that appropriate for curves, junctions, and other circumstances in the road ahead."

      If you're talking about going through a curve on the highway, yes but you'll need to steer through the curve. If you're talking about going through a 90 degree left or right turn, its best to hit the brakes, take control slow down, take the turn, and resume the cruise control after you're straightened out again

  • @adamcoe
    @adamcoe Год назад

    So to clarify, this is the Adaptive Cruise only and not the Mi Pilot Assist, correct? It's a little confusing because the Adaptive Cruise has that setting called Steer Assist but I believe Mi Pilot is another level of stuff. But do correct me if I'm wrong, it's sometimes unclear as to which features each system has.

    • @CarDietrich
      @CarDietrich  Год назад +1

      This is just the adaptive cruise. MiPilot is on the ones with Navi, it can do semi-self driving on certain highways if that highway is programmed into the Navi

      If you are on a highway that is encoded with that data in the Navigation maps, yes it has the ability to do that.

    Good thing that we still have relatively reliable cars from Toyota, Honda, Mazda, and Subaru in the U.S.
