    Yeah , do a ski oddity show. 7 skis each from the back of the warehouse . Also , might I suggest , a show where you pick your favorite carving/ mogul / freeride/ all mountain / groomer / powder etc... ski each . The interest would be based from a weight and tallness perspective explaining why you choose what you chose . Ability won't come into it as y'all ski just fine 😁. That would be a selfish request as I am built more like Bob but I am sure that there are plenty of "Jeffs" out there that would be interested .

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  4 месяца назад +1

      14 skis in the back of the warehouse is a bit of a reach--we do have fun stuff like mounted returns or slightly used ebay skis that might be of interest. Would certainly frame it more like "this is what I would buy and here's why" as I think that adds to the fun of the bargain basement/oddity genre.

    Love the content thankyou. I am based in London UK. I want to order from you to say thanks for all the videos. Can you explain how the import duty works? (VAT) Would you cover that as part of the price or does it have to be paid on arrival? How much is shipping and how long does it take? Many thanks

      Thanks! I'll include a link to our shipping policy, but basically, the buyer is responsible for all import taxes and fees. When you put an item in your cart, shipping fees should automatically be calculated. If you have any questions, our customer service team is awesome and they'd be more than willing to walk you through the process.

    The Bent 100 is interesting to talk about. I picked one up this season (172) with more of a freeride use in mind, logged 14 days on it. It worked pretty well, outperformed my former freeride ski, yet i think that it's not always easy to turn, especially the tail in powder. My guess is that it's a combination of camber hight and somewhat short tail rocker for a freeride use. My bindings are on factory line, and for my style of skiing and usage, i actually think going back a cm or two would have been interesting. The Bent 100 is, pretty much, a "jack of all trades, master of none" ski, and with the wide range of applicability comes the question of the mount point. And honestly, for most skiers, that's a pretty though question to answer and get right. It can do it all, it wont be a let down. However, if you own a couple of skis, you'll often think of a different pair you'd rather be on right now (or that you're looking into for next season 😄).

    • @kokibr91
      @kokibr91 4 месяца назад

      I have absolutely the same experience. They are not that easy to ski in powder or tight spots. Turning requires quite an effort. I believe it is due to the huge camber and almost non existent rocker in the back (10% is nothing). Mounting is another tricky aspect. Tried factory line, +1 and + 2. Factory line is not appropriate for me at all. I don't do any park or switch, fully directional skier but still factory is so far back that it ruins the purpose of the ski. I would say +2 is the minimum, maybe moving even to +3 or 4. Lenght is another aspect, I was too worried that 172 would be too short and took 180, but they are pretty true to size so 180 is a bit long for me (174cm bare foot). Yes, that lenght makes them very stable at speed and chopped snow, but tight tree skiing is a big problem. Use them also for touring with a pair of Shifts (combination out of heaven) and they are quite heavy for long tours. Now I have Zero Gs with Alpinist binding and it is a big difference.
      Having said that, I love the Bent 100s. If you dont know what the snow would be or where you are going to ski, this is the one to pick. They will cover all your crazy ideas. For a season and a half they were my only ski and I did everything with them. Anyway, if really want to specialize you need a specific ski. Now I have a proper carver Head SS Rally - amazing, ZeroGs for tours and I will pick a proper powder skis most probably Bent 110 or 120. Those Bents 100 will be my all mountain weapon.

    I, 51m 5’10” 205# advanced, am looking for a ‘natural snow’ ski for western PA/ NY/ WV with an occasional trip to Stowe. Focus is on all-mountain - moguls, trees and groomed slopes. These would complement a Dynastar SpeedZone 16 Ti (

      I skied the Scott on a weird day one time--heavy snow up top and rain down below. It worked fine at the very top when the snow was dry--about 4-5 inches--and then in the mid-section, they started to sink and track straight due to the lack of rocker. Down low in the rain, they were amazing. I think heavier snow is the bigger weakness here versus dry snow, in which I'd ski them in 6-8 inches. Wet snow, kind of rough. I switched to Blizzard Rustler 9 and found them to be far more amenable to the wetter snow than the Scott, for example. As for Anomaly, I had the best time on the 88 this year--I did not find a situation in which those skis fell anywhere short of awesome. Bumps, trees, groomers, and even about 5 inches of wind-blown snow--they were great. I don't see a wrong answer with going with an Anomaly 88. I'd stick to the mid-170's in these types of skis if that's what you're comfortable on.

    Great video guys…. Always enjoy these, will you be doing a women’s specific one soon? I,m trying to convince my sister in law (fairly new to skiing) to get out of renting and buy her 1st pair… she’s small 5’1” 98 lbs. so sizing has been a challenge.

      @SkiEssentials  4 месяца назад

      We don't have specific plans to do a women's specific version, although we did have two women's skis on this wall as well as a handful that are either Unisex (Revolt, XT 55, Bent, Ripstick Tour, M-Free) or feature the same build as women's branded skis (Mantra/Secret, Stance/Stance W, Pure Free 90/90W, Mindbender/Mindbender W). Really the only men's specific skis on this wall are the Nordica race ski, the Origin, and the Deacon 80.

    I was holding off on my first purchase, waiting for the Peregrine 82, but due to these discounts, I am tempted to pull the trigger on the Deacon 84. I am an intermediate skier who enjoys groomers in New Mexico and I want something easy to turn and handle morning and afternoon crud, that would allo me to learn proper carving. Could you compare these two skis and make a recommendation?

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  4 месяца назад

      I think that for the price, the 84 is the way to go. There's not much of a difference when it comes to the level of performance, but rather the feel of the ski. The Peregrine wants to be more connected with the snow from tip to tail, mainly due to the slightly longer turn radius and narrower overall shape. The Deacon has more of a propensity to pop out of the turns and basically propel you into the next turn. The energy and rebound is the bigger difference. Peregrine prefers to link these carved turns without getting too much air in the transition. I'd also say the Deacon is slightly more versatile and amenable to various conditions.

    Will be adding a 100is ski for next season, and wondering your thoughts on 2025 Bent 100 vs. Ranger 102 vs. Ripstick 102 (either black edition or basic, but I am on the heavier side). Advanced skier on piste, but would consider myself less so off piste. I'm looking for something "easy" to have fun on, and would basically be my widest ski to experiment more with powder. The new Ripstick is where I'm currently leaning. Brian Head, Utah is where I'll mostly be skiing going forward. Thanks, guys! Edit: I would also throw the Rustler 10 into the conversation.

    • @bearclaw5115
      @bearclaw5115 4 месяца назад

      None of them are bad choices. For an advanced on piste skier the Ripstick would be the most natural fit but it also isn't the ski I'd get if looking to play more in the powder. You'll probably end up carving groomers all the time on it. Which is no bad thing, just not your stated mission. I've skied the Ranger 102. It's alright but perhaps a tad sluggish compared to older Fischer's. If I was in your shoes and I kind of am -similar goals and Utah skiing in mind, I'd heavily consider the Salomon QST 106. It is capable on groomers but is also quite playful in the powder. And they are on sale RN too. Another possibility is the Elan Playmaker 101, a super fun easy ski in this width if you are looking for a more freestyle approach to powdery conditions.

      Personally, I am a bigger fan of the Bent 100 than the other skis on your list. I'm 225 pounds and find that ski to hold up better than the other two. If you're looking for the next step up in consistent power and smoothness, then the Rustler can certainly enter the conversation, it's just not as fun or playful as the Bent 100.

      I (Bob) free heeled for about 10 years so I can answer any specific questions you may have, but as you know, it's more dark arts than practical science. As far as content, I believe your term "niche" kind of precludes it from being part and parcel of our daily protocol. It's just not that popular, although some of the tele videos we used to post got some of our best views at the time!

    Those last 2 skis will be good for my 18 year old son. M-free 90 and scott pure 90. Which one of them will perform better in moguls? Which one of them is better in carving?

    • @bearclaw5115
      @bearclaw5115 4 месяца назад +1

      The Scott is probably the better carver but the M-free is probably the safer choice for an 18yr dude (more up their alley).

    • @SkiEssentials
      @SkiEssentials  4 месяца назад +1

      The Scott has more power and smoothness for carving on groomers while the M-Free is quite a bit lighter and more suited to a progressing intermediate and early advanced skier. that makes it easier to ski in moguls and more mobile in various terrain.

      If you're looking to progress and improve, the Deacon 80 is not too much for an intermediate. The Deacon 79 is a bit more intermediate-focused, but the 80 is a much higher quality product.

    I really appreciate seeing the Elan Ripstick T (touring) on the wall.
    For the cost of Epic/Ikon passes, touring skis are becoming more and more attractive. Besides, my knees are grateful for the light weight AT gear even at the resort.
    Nice to know that the T version is just as amazing as the reg. and black ed. and that they're on sale.
