      And it's not only that but, realistically, you only get ONE chance ---- outside of the 0.000001% exceptional human beings like Simons, Oksana, Daniele Hypolito, Vannessa Ferrari, Olga Tass et al ---- for 99.9999% of women and for 99.99% of men, because it happens only once in 4 years.
      An average person's chances of winning the Lottery literally is statistically better than a man or woman getting into the Olympics AND becoming an ALL Medalist (like Simone, Suni, Douglas, Luikin, Paterson and the half dozen or so other women from Europe before the ascendancy of American women in the AA Gold category).
      There's been only 17 or so AA Gold winners since the 1952 Olympics, with American women taking all the last 5 consecutive AA Golds; and you have to go back to the 1984, to see the other American woman, Marry Lou Retten... being the first America AA Gold Olympic winner for women...

    Skye being hurt is DEVASTATING. This is why I have said from the beginning that the US put the gymnasts through too much. Every other country has one major event to select the team but the US have about three within a SHORT SPACE of time. This is terrible and needs to stop. Nationals and Trials should have been ONE and DONE especially as this sport requires so much from the athletes. I hope they do away with this triangulation of competitions in the future.

    Blakely’s injury shows why you can not just purely go with highest scoring team. It has to be a combination of highest scoring team but also take into account possible injury(ies) and making sure you have someone reliable to do any event with a decent/useable score. In a world where no one gets injured, then You can purely go with highest scoring team even if that means you have 2 gymnasts that you only use on 1 event.

  • @cjinpa5713
    @cjinpa5713 15 дней назад +9

    I’m glad to hear Jade has brought back her amanar to set her apart from all the double twisting yurchenko’s. The 9 time world medalist and Olympic gold medal floor champ would be on my team. Let Simone sit out floor and/or vault during team finals. It did not prove fruitful to leave the other double event finalist off the team in 2021 so why do it again? Especially now if Skye is injured.

    • @cocoroni1031

      Simone will do all 4 events in TF I bet 🤔

    • @kiabtoomlauj6249
      @kiabtoomlauj6249 15 дней назад +1

      Why do you want Simone to sit out floor and/or vault?
      BB and UB aren't even her best events.
      That means her AA scores are so much superior to all other gymnasts from both America and the world... is heavily due to her giant floor tumbling and dare devil vaulting. Again, a few Americans and for sure, a few Chinese and that Algerian-French girl, Kaylia Nemour, almost for sure, will beat Simones on the UB and BB.
      Even Suni, for example, is extremely capable of beating Simones on the UB and BB beam.... not often enough but regularly to know she could do it, if she's perfect... Suni has had health issues the last 2 plus years, so the nationals 2 or so weeks ago, was the first time she did all apparatuses, with Simones and all other elites also competing...
      Anyway, the problem why on AA scores very few other individuals --- who may be great in one or two apparatuses --- could beat Biles ..... is her LEVEL of difficulty. She does so many very difficult tricks, even if she's not landing perfectly, even with a great deduction, she still is right beside another elite with close to a perfect score, on that same apparatus.... so, on all 4 apparatuses, over many hours in a 2-3 day event, wear & tear take almost all others out of her AA range!

      But these elite athletes literally push themselves, mentally & physically, to the very limits of what the human body could do...
      So when they miss a skill, miss a tumble, misplace a finger, a hand, a toe during an apparatus ... which are dangerous even during a perfect performance: this is why I could NEVER watch women's BB live --- or, for the same reason, women & men figure skating --- because from Biles, to Sunni to Qui Qiyuan, to Zhou Yaqin, ... you KNOW if one tiny pinky toe is 1/2 outside of where it should be, it's the floor, they go... it doesn't matter how good you really are, who you are, how many gold's you've won previously...
      Remember, one of the most touted, most gifted US women gymnasts and Arkansas current head coach for its women's gymnastics, JORDYN WEIBER (with Simone Biles, at the time, being largely, at best, a young "junior" member of the US senior women's squad...)
      She was thought to be in the running for a Gold on the balancing beam, at the very least, if memory serves.... because she was THAT surefooted on that most feared apparatus; but for some reason, she didn't even make it to being one picked for that apparatus, due to some mishap or some major misfortune like that...
      The haunting looks, from these athletes, of literally one moment being at some heights & another, being in the deepest of valleys... it's quite tragic, in some ways.... "beautiful" as the sport is... a sport so demanding, so brutal, elite skills often times are not enough: a person will also need tons of pure luck, to be on her side (e.g., not getting sick or injured --- or not having "an off night" ---- during a practice, for a major international show case, for the Olympic trials, etc...)

    I’m sorry but Tate Costa’s coaches should be banned for putting their gymnastics in danger. That rule should be changed because he has made it VERY dangerous. This is not something we should be applauding. If he severely injured himself nobody will think this was a great idea.

      @@Raven-ll9lm There are always injuries before Olympics. If Olympics happened in 1980 with the US boycotting them and then they happened again in 1984 with the Easter block boycotting them having an American winning AA and so many other medals who wouldn’t have even participated in the finals otherwise, then I think we can have Olympics in Paris with some gymnasts being injured and not participating….

  • @absurdhominid4669

    How many of us predicted she wouldn't last to Paris, like the rest of WOGA? So sick of WOGA. Best of luck to Kaliya being recovered ENOUGH for a chance and Skye's recovery. People can drag me, but I'd take top 4 AA and MAYBE one person that can fill in as a specialist. The rage about OMG the best scoring team, and then you see it was by 0.2 pts and that athlete would only be usable on 1 event is absurd. Very absurd. Chellsie and Alicia said top 2 on 2 events to buck AA order or it's not happening and I agree.
    And lastly, when I say "specialist" I don't mean someone that literally cannot do the AA, I mean athletes that aren't top 4 on at least two events. For example, Jade might get top 5AA, but if she does not, she would be hoping to bump a top 5 AA'r for a "specialist spot" since she only gets top 5 on VT. At championships she was 5th on FX with both Shilese and Kaliya gone, also Jordan and Joscelyn had higher one day scores. Internationally, Jordan, Jade, and Joscelyn would all get dragged on FX this year, FIG has gotten tougher and tougher with scoring over the quad. Maybe her one vault is worth it for a team final to some, but her FX definitely is not, nor is BB/UB.
    My team is Simone, Shi, Suni, Kayla, and Leanne. Jordan and Jade are traveling alternates; Hezly and Tiana as non-traveling alternates.
