    I’m 42 y/o and just ordered some skates. I watch IJJ too and I don’t think it’s a mid life crisis. For me it’s remembering a great pastime 😊

      I want to start staking and I will buy some roller skates. I am 42. I used to do it as a child. I agree I don’t see it as a mid life crisis either.

    I enjoyed this video. Im 46yrs old and in december i was in a bad car accident and couldnt walk for two months. I was depressed and started thinking about a happier time in my life and remembered how much i used to love skating in my teens. I started watching skate videos and as soon as my foot started healing well enough i went skating and had so much fun, hence why im looking at skate reviews because now i want my own pair. Guess im having a midlife crisis too but im loving it. I think i will give this pair a try. Thanks

    Hi! 👋 Me too! Inspired by Indy as well.😂👍 I had to go with Candi Girl because I couldn't get Moxi's in my size soon enough. Ordered Moxi wheels to replace the stock wheels to make up for it though. Still getting use to them and breaking them in. I'll be need to buy more mole skin for my feet and ankles while the boots break in. I also do not lace them up all the way so I can get enough bend in my legs.

    You are me hahahaha! Not 40 but 35 and just did the exact same thing. I was also wanting the leopard Moxi skates but purchased these Candi girl skates as my “trial pair” haven’t skated in 20 years but hitting the rink with my bestie Saturday. Hopefully I can still do it! Thinking of investing in some knee and elbow pads 😂 high five to midlife (or mid thirties) crises ❤️

    my son was fortunate his middle school offered skating in gym class during the 2nd semester each year. for 3 years, he always asked us for $2 for skate rentals but i never paid attention. i just told him to be careful lol. hes now 18, 200+lbs, 6'4 and a pro! he can dance and race and everything on skates. im So jealous!
    now im in the market for my own pair and determined to learn this cool hobby. i figure i should make sure my daughter, age 12, learns as well so she can get skilled like her big bro. this Candy Girl brand sounds like the best solution and pricepoint for me purchasing 2 pairs. i appreciate your review!

      i wear an 8.5 would you recommend sizing up to a 9 or down to an 8

    • @MystiqueRisingSun
      @MystiqueRisingSun 4 года назад +1

      @@cjsandnes5654 That depends on your comfort level. They are suede so they will stretch up to a half size, but they are known to be narrow. If you think you can live with that "squished foot" feeling for a while (it takes roughly 6-12 hours of skating to break in a skate), go for the 8. If you like your shoes (and, thus, skates) a tad on the loose side, go for the 9's. I you do opt to go bigger, you can stuff the toes with lamb's wool until they feel right to you.

    I just got my pair of Jungle Ivy Moxis and they really are beautiful. I’ve never skated before but it’s really helpful to see your video and know that so many people are re/starting skating. I feel less alone. I’m in my 20s but have always been clumsy/inactive so it’s just nice to see more than one “type” of person getting excited about skating right now. Thanks for your honest review!

    I have the same skates!! But in sea foam (the blue ones) and I love them. I bought them because where I'm from Moxis are too expensive! I use them for cruising and aggressive roller skating and they don't dissapoint. They are sturdy and the big wheels help a lot. I would probably change the bearings for ones with a nylon cover, for easier maintenance 'cause the ones it has are sealed. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! :)

    • @MystiqueRisingSun
      @MystiqueRisingSun 4 года назад

      They come with a rubber seal. Easier to remove than the nylons. At least...both pairs in my house did. I've got the Royal Blue, youngest has the Sea Foam. My 16 year old wants the Raspberry so....I guess we'll see what those come with if they ever get them back in stock somewhere soon.

    I'll be 50 this June. I saved up and ordered my Candi Grl Carlin's today. They should be here in a week. I'm so excited! I haven't been on skates since 1986. :) I got knee and wrist pads too. I live in the boons, so I'm just going to skate on our decently paved country road. I got the same color as yours. :) Cheers!!!

    The Candi Girl Carlin skates are actually made specifically for skate parks so they're definitely sturdy. However, both versions (Carlin and the Sabina - artistic style skates, made for indoor use) do run a bit narrow. I love mine (got the royal blue), but the break-in period does seem to be a bit longer than many other high-top models. Carlin wheels are outdoor wheels. If you skate indoors, sometimes that helps (uncoated and/or dirty floors), but not always. Just get new wheels and a set of bearings...and a bearing press...and change as needed. If you only skate indoors, you may want to go for the Sabina model instead. Cleaning should be done on a regular basis, no matter where you skate, but switching them is easier than cleaning them 'all the time".
    P.S. Did you preform the checklist?

    • @itshollynow
      @itshollynow  5 лет назад +1

      MystiqueRisingSun Alot of the specs are a bit too high maintenance for me at the moment. I just wanted to get a decent indoor/outdoor skate that would last me a while without falling apart or sending me to the ER lol! They're working out great, even though I don't get a chance to skate as often as I would like because of tending to my autistic son. Thanks for all the info though and commenting, I truly appreciate it!

    • @MystiqueRisingSun
      @MystiqueRisingSun 5 лет назад

      @@itshollynow Skates are kind of high maintenance if you're changing them around often, but a tweak of the trucks, and making sure the wheels and toe stops are on properly is always a good thing before you start rolling. I'm actually talking to the manager about doing "Skate School" at my local rink - 20-weeks of classes starting with "What Skates Should I Get?" down to maintenance...and a couple fun things (such as dying wheels). Oh, speaking of which, don't forget to rotate your wheels now and then! For a casual skater, (skating only 3-4 times a month or less) you should only need to do it about once a year. Especially once you master the T-Stop...if you haven't already. :)
      As for your son, is there any way he could skate, too?

      @@itshollynow I love watching the littles learn! SO much fun. My youngest two started on rentals that didn't roll at all...halfway through the session, both begged for "real" skates. The first time...I think they were on their butts more than their wheels, but they were determined. :)

      I would get the size 8; the website says to size up if you’re in between sizes❤️ try them out on a clean floor or carpet to check the fit and you may be able return if they don’t fit. Also be sure to check the return policies where you purchase 😉

    Hi Holly so glad I found your skate review video, I to am going through life crisis at 52 . I skated from age 7 to 30 pretty regularly until my kids lost interest in it. Found myself watching young women like Indy skating on you tube also . Like you I can’t afford Moxi skates plus not sure I wanted to reinvest in skates just to find out my body won’t remember how . I own really nice Ridell Skates , that don’t fit my feet now unfortunately. I ordered mine a day before I caught this video . I started already thinking what did I buy . But seeing your video made me feel reassured I probably bought very decent skates . So thanks for your review . You have Etsy stores ? I would like to see your crafts . Maybe you could let me know your Etsy handle . Thanks again D

    I just ordered a pair a week ago, but I am worried about the fit. Could you talk about the sizing?

    • @itshollynow
      @itshollynow  4 года назад +1

      For this particular pair of skates, they were the same size as my regular shoe size. Different brands and styles may or may not be true to size though. That’s why I ordered them from kohl’s, that way I could try them on to check the fit and return them if necessary.
      Hope that helps!

      Well, these are still going strong, but I’m only a casual skater. I don’t skate as often as I would like to. I also reviewed the crazy skates disco glam skates and actually like the fit and comfort better so I’ve been using them a lot. I’m thinking about selling these ones since the others fit my wide foot a lot better. I still think they are really good, and they’re in great shape.
