It might sound strange but the whine electric cars and bikes make is pretty cool imo 😂
Tis indeed, if anything I wish it were a bit louder sometimes, like if they could intentionally amplify it and make the most of what it sounds like, so you can hear it over the wind noise. Sounds very futuristic 😎
I agree
It's cool but it's not a straightpiped turbo busa is it?
Jake Harvey I agree, but it’s cool in its own way
I love it on my SR/F. It gives a sense of urgency as the whine increases with the speed :-).
Well, I've got one. I have to say that torque just doesn't get old. Unfortunately you can't actually pin it at every opportunity "all day." Pressed hard it eats through battery pretty quickly. While you can get impressive range in town riding slowly, riding it hard dramatically reduces range. The best range I've gotten would have taken me more than 140 miles if I had the patience to ride that slowly (35mph or less) that far. Riding it in full lunatic hooligan mode got about 40 miles range. the best bet is to ride gently until you get to the fun roads.
I've had and still have some great bikes but this one has something special that no other bike has ever given me. Knowing that blast of power is always on tap gives me an altogether different view of the road. It's like riding a special effect in a science fiction movie. Otherworldly.
I enjoyed the video.
Wow thanks for the info dude, not really heard of anyone who actually owns one of these before. Have you had any impromptu races off lights etc 😜 I'm betting this would leave most vehicles for dust upto 60mph
@@DanTheTwoWheeler Played tag with a Tesla Model X but they quit early. Never got to line up at a light. Honestly there's nothing that can keep up from a stop if you launch with the traction control off (which is kinda scary).
@@Miata822 yeah was gonna say, all the electronics were on when i was riding it, so it was slightly reserved from the start
@@DanTheTwoWheeler Even with TC off the motor is limited until it is up to speed. This is probably to protect the motor from excess current melting the windings.
How u can ride this “thing” gently?
I guess in yrs to come they'll look back at the whole petrol thing and smile at what people used to do.
i look at my petrol thing everyday and smile.
Wow that's so cool. I love the sound of my fz6 but looking forward to the future of electric so much potential 😎
You lucky man, they are the future for sure.
Daymmm looks insane man
i bought as sr/s 2021 and love it
2019 zero S 14.4 owner here. Yea zero, lightening, energica, ev bikes etc... are the future in terms of performance. That constant torque throughout the range is something to be experienced, but I gotta admit... I do enjoy shifting from time to time. Makes me feel more like a racer. Nostalgic. I still want a Ducati 959 Panigale just for sentimental reasons....
Yes I think riders in our current generation will always miss the tactile feel and sound of shifting gears. But kids born today, will probably soon know no different and will be completely brought up in an electric world, hence nothing to miss 🤷🏽♂️
I tried it too. I thought I would miss shifting and the sound. Nope, did not. I would miss it on a combustionbike though, not an electric. It's another riding experience. And I must say, a pretty wild one! And very good. 1-2 mph no problem. Well balanced. Well built. Try one! It will give you something to think about!
Beast mode 😂😂 looking forward to the future of electric bikes but cant get my head around the silence
Neither could i, until i rode it! That torque just makes you forget what silence even is 😅 Also that electric whine actually really grows on you 😜
Great bike, I test rode it. Acceleration is brisk enough to beat most bikes once they need to start shifting & walk away. But once you hit 80mph the briskness seems to lessen/fade, to it’s 125mph top speed. I need a bike capable of doing 150mph, the fun only starts at 80 & shouldn’t start fading. 1hr of charge time needed for every 100 miles of Hwy speed riding, which would add a lot of time needed for a long distance trip. Once they market a model of 150mph & 30 mins charge time, then I’ll buy one. Never before have I “enjoyed” a M/C ride more; no engine heat, noise or vibration, just you & the ride, is really what it’s all about.
Should check out the Damon Hypersport, 200 mph top speed, 200 mile range and 0-60 in 2.8 i think?
How could you possibly "need" a bike capable of 150 mph? Unless they are for track only use?
What’s the battery longevity? Is it defined by charging cycles like lithium batteries? When is battery to be replaced and at what costs?
Kinda crazy you can ride the first one on a cbt yet with petrol you are limited to 125cc
I don't know much about motorcycles, is this faster than most or all of the gas powered ones?
Yep it's got a lot of instant torque, at a rolling start it'd pill away from most 600cc bikes in my opinion
Whats the price and range (distance wise) like?
The SR/F retails at $18.995.00
How many belts a year does it go through . With that much throttle abuse I'll bet it's a few.
Hmm, good question actually, not too sure 🤔
Belts need replacing roughly every 40,000 miles from memory.
Gonna try and get a Yamaha YZR R125 2009 next year since ill finally be able to ride one...just gotta scroundge the money for test and bike ect...kill me now 😂
My Ebike has a peak torque of 290nm
So this is just a powerful moped yeah?
Just like your motorcycle is a powerful scooter
How much T did you lose with lack of exhaust noise?
That heavy traction control makes this thing like the bumper car of bikes. I'm sure the acceleration is cool, but the traction control makes it seem just terrible.
Yeah it can be obtrusive, although I'm not sure what would happen if it was off 😳
Pulls like it's in first gear? Well it only has one gear so...
Gears have different ratios, which influence the torque/max speed. Other models of the Zero lineup pull like it's in "third" or "second" gear, because despite having a MUCH smaller torque, it uses less rotations to reach a higher speed, becoming more efficient, which is important for the weaker, cheaper motor. If they develop a multi gear electric system they can increase range quite considerably on efficiency only. Same for cars.
Dont know why but electric vehicles feels more natural thing to me than ICE transportation. should have been electric from the start...
I can see many young riders killing themselves (and others possibly) with these e-bikes more than on conventional high powered bikes. The extreme torque will encourage very high risk taking, and fast acceleration (greater than 99% of all cars on the road) is going to result in many accidents. The desire for quick thrills is going to make these machines a death trap unless something is done to curtail the runaway torque. Sorry to spoil your fun but these bikes accelerate way too fast on public roads, and fast acceleration is as potentially dangerous as constant top speed. It encourages very risky overtakes where normally you wouldn't dare. Constant bursts of speeds (as you did) can get you in trouble very quickly.
...
I sure hope the kill switch works on these machines (ideally they should be much closer to hand than on the bikes you tested). What if the throttle gets stuck open for any reason? You'd be dead in seconds before you realised what is happening.
So u basically paid more money to get yer ninja wit akrapovic so she could sound better, now this thing sounds like a wind and thats not a problem to u 🤣😅 ano ano that torque... belter.
At this current time, I'd prefer to have a bike with an engine and with that epic sound. But considering this is where the future is going, I'm equally as excited for it :)
More torque than a H2 but the H2 will blow it away once you get into 3 figures. H2 all day long. Untill you can get 150 mile range and 5 mins to top up at stations it's a no from 99% of bikers, no matter how much torque is on tap.
PaddyWack999 Only because most bikers are weekenders, for those who ride their bikes daily, rain or shine, as they commute to work and back, this bike makes a ton of sense...
@@davidholmer6099 that's a fair comment, I hadn't thought of it like that as you rightly identified, I'm a weekend rider!
Oooooh my Gooood. Oh god. Ooooomigaaawd. Omigod, Omigod. You sound like a 16 year old girl.
