Maybe in the sense of what CT means to the Friday franchise/series even though he was only in the first (best) movie, but both him and Cube were/are pretty famous in their own right. Can't really say that about Smith and Mewes. They came up together and had their main successes together. No knock against them. Just pointing out how they're similar like you said, yet still different.

Agreed. I don't see how his career is over by any means. Even though BvS was a disappointment, Affleck is still a popular actor and an award-winning director. He's gonna be just fine.

I honestly think that Kevin Smith should have never directed a non Viewaskewniverse movie.Just because people didn't like Clerks II, does not mean that you should stop with the films that made you who you are. thank god he's working on a new Jay and Silent Bob movie though.
His first non Viewaskewniverse film was Jersey Girl. It came out 2 years before Clerks 2 and it was a huge bomb.
My point is that if he really was as cowardly as you think he is he wouldn't have directed any non Viewaskewniverse after that and he would have kept milking the cash cow.

I don't recall. all I remembered was I said that directing non viewaskewniverse movies was a huge mistake on his part. also, if I recall, I think Clerks II got at minimum mediocre scores. JG got panned, hard. with 3 razzie nominations. the worst thing Clerks II got was "it's not as good as the first one" complaints. Say what you will about cash cows, but what would you do if you had 2 choices: getting panned by everyone and not earning money, or getting some complaints about doing the same shit and still earn a respectable amount of money?
