Dude I CRIIIIIEEEEED at the end of CLERKS III - that was shockingly beautiful, bittersweet, gorgeous. The love in Kev's films is apparent... that's what I love. I love the dude's passion, heart, and genuine nature. And SLACKER is one of my faves as well. But what a trilogy it's been with CLERKS - I was pleased with the way he wrapped that story up - it was nostalgic AND tragic yet life-affirming, love-affirming... Just genuine. I dunno how to say it better. Some filmmakers just shine through in the films they make - you can tell there's love there.
I haven't saw Clerks 3 yet, but I will. I think your comment is the first positive one I've saw about part 3. I'm sure I'll enjoy it though cause I like all Kevin's movies. Jay & Silent Bob forever.
A few days after Christmas, my girlfriend, and I actually drove from Maine to see the Quickstop and the comic book shop, and we brought along my father‘s ashes because he was the one that got me in to Kevins movies when I was 10 years old at something that we shared I love for. And recently losing him to heart issues it just seemed like the right time to do it so thank you Kevin Smith.
It's almost like he was Hercules except his strength came from his fat rather than his hair. As soon as he lost the weight he turned into a total beta boy who parrots all the woke Hollywood talking points.
You don’t have to like Kevin Smith but show some respect to this person who put out something really touching and heartfelt by taking your criticism to literally any other comment thread.
Around the 1:00:00 mark, when his wife is talking about the movie.... THAT shit hits home for me, too. I worked in a liquor store in Baltimore for 13 years. It was there that I met my first wife. She gave me the inner strength to leave that place, and I found work at a plant nursery working with her. Best job I ever had, despite it being physically taxing. We were allowed to work together because we made a great working team. The two of us together were greater than the sum of our parts. The company recognized that. She was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, lived through a surgery and went into remission for a while... however, it came back and in 2006, she passed away with me holding her hand. (Clerks III Spoilers ahead....) When Becky showed up while Dante was visiting her grave site, that made me break down in tears. Rose, my first wife, is in a jar very near to me when I'm at my computer. Before she died, she told me that "When the time is right, I'll send you someone so that you won't be lonely for the rest of your life." Also, the number 3 surrounded Rose, so it came as no surprise that after the 3rd anniversary of her death, that an old school friend came walking back into my life. We didn't date back in school, but we were friends. This time, however, we kissed.... and magic happened. We started dating, and one night, Rose came to me in a dream. Anyone who has had this experience knows that you can tell the difference between a "normal dream" and a "visitation". It was then that Rose confirmed to me that Katina was the one she sent. It was also her 3rd visitation to me... I related to Dante in that scene at the grave side because of that experience. I'm more cynical and snarky than Randal is, normally. But that scene made tears roll down my face. Yes, I still hold the memories from my first wife, and in some ways, I hold on too tightly to her. Katina has become my second wife, and we've been married for 11 years now. 2022 was a rough year for me, mentally.... as I was very melancholic for some reason. Then this movie came along, and donkey-kicked me right in the heart. You see, Katina was born with a heart defect, and had to have surgery for it. She had that surgery right before the pandemic hit. She's doing fine, but this was her 3rd corrective surgery. There's that 3 again.... So, yeah, I consider Clerks III to be an amazing movie, and one that I will likely cry while watching every time I do watch it. I didn't get to see it in theaters, and that's probably a good thing. I'd have bawled like a baby during it, if the home video version (and my reaction to it) is any indication. Bad enough I did that in private...... but to have done it publicly..... oh, HELL no.
How the fuck am I this choked up reading a comment on RUclips!?! That really got me bro & I’m so sorry for your loss. You keep her alive by sharing what you guys had/have!
Thank you all for the replies! Rose was such an amazing person, and she touched everyone around her. She would leave work to go get her chemo treatments, then return to work and finish out our shift. She amazed everyone with her strength and courage to face cancer, and not complain a bit. She was the strongest person I ever met in my life, and I can't express how much she meant to me. That she sent me a woman so tolerant of me and my idiosyncrasies, still blows my mind. The "hospital scenes" in Clerks III reminded me of Katina's heart surgery, as well as my waiting in the hospital for news about Rose's cancer surgery. Especially since it happened to both Randal and Dante. The only time I left the hospital building was to go smoke a cigarette, but I never left the grounds while they were under the knife. The hospital staff also made sure that I was the first family member they saw once they were in the recovery room. One other thing to relate about Rose.... She so affected the people we worked with, that (without my knowledge), they took up a collection to purchase a memorial brick at the cancer center Rose had gotten her treatments at. Whatever the difference was between what was collected by employees, the company covered. Once the brick was in place, they presented me with a letter about the brick, and a plaque containing pictures of its placement in the Healing Garden. I visit there once in a while, just to sit there and think. Also, when Rose was deemed terminal, the company paid for her health insurance for the few months she was on home hospice, so that we didn't have to worry about an interruption in her care. That earned them my loyalty, as they weren't obligated to do that.
Although I never lost a wife. I lost a best friend. She was in the theater with me when I saw clerks 3. I understand. Although Vicky had passed. Her and I used to spend hours watching TV. She passed of HIV. Before clerks 3 was ever filmed. I am buying the movie as soon as I can.
He's a beautiful soul. I can't help but get excited FOR him because his enthusiasm and his empathy and joy and soul is contagious. I don't even care if he makes a clunker here and there, I love the dude's whole energy and the fun he's having, and in this jaded, "corporate hellscape" of a media landscape these days, I love when someone is making stuff they're truly excited about sharing and having a blast and being authentic!
When CLERKS first hit the screen, i was running my brother's gas station in nearby downtown Milwaukee. Needless to say, I'm grateful to have grown up with these fine human beings...however the distance in space and time. 🌱🎬
For me... It was the soundtrack! Small comic and anima shop in VA... I walked in "Willie wookie! Moowwaa!" and had to ask what I was listening to? "From a movie called Clerks!" Bought a copy two days later and been a fan ever since! That was 1996... Won a radio contest while stationed in IH, and saw Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back for free!
I loved the Clerks cartoon. I had to go online and order an American copy which ran on a different region that most DVD players wouldn't play. It had moments of genius - the second episode being a clips show, the episode that had the ending rewritten by Korean animators, Charles Barkley being a weekly costar. It was a shame it wasn't given a chance.
For me it's Clerks 2. That movie hits so hard. It sends a great message that it's ok to live your own life; not the life you think you ought to have because it's what everyone else seems to be chasing.
Clerks 2 is a perfect film, its my favourite film and I've never watched any film more than that film, its my go to film whenever I feel down or need a pick me up or reminder about focusing on the things that matter.
yeah, as much as i love clerks 3, i cant forgive it for ruining clerks 2. its not my FAVORITE movie, but its probably my favorite viewaskew movie. my pick me up movie is either Without a paddle or A knights tale.
After seeing clerks 3 in theater and growing up watching all the movies this one hit me hard getting older it made me go to the doctors for a checkup, and try to eat better.
Yeah, I didn't want that out of a comedy, to be honest. Especially after the first two were just so hilarious. This one, i had to watch impractical jokers to wash it off me.
The Clerks Trilogy is Amazing. I Honestly Love All 3 Movies Equally cause they all go together and Tell a Great Story. Each in a different decade. Randal, Dante, Jay & Silent Bob were Always my Top 4 Favorite Characters in The View Askew Universe. The Scenes of them all together in Clerks 3 were amazing. Thanks For All the Great Laughs, God these Films are Amazing, Kevin Smith Rocks!
3 was terrible. It didn't seem to fit with the others at all. Randall was completely different. Massively depressing and not funny. Sad after other two were so amazing.
Clerks 1 and 2 were really good! I thought they were a great story. I loved how the series ended with Dante and Randal buying the quickstop. Dante and Becky are gonna be raisin that beautiful family while watching the crazy milk ladies and egg dudes!
I work at a plant that handles potentially dangerous materials, needles to say, there are frequent alerts and sometimes we have to gather at a “safe location”. Last year we had such alarm while I was on an OT shift and when such alarm required us to be held up for hours, I was very disappointed when only one coworker got my “I wasn’t even supposed to be here today” reference
I will always remember when I saw Clerks the first time, 100 lifetimes ago, in July of 1993. I've been a diehard fan ever since. Your movies are a category of film all it's own, like John Hughes movies. The Kevin Smith movies have been a huge part of my life, and I'd like to thank you for sharing. You've made a difference, my friend, and it means a lot. ❤❤
I was 3 months old but the fact that growing up in the 2000s/2010s I still resonated with it is telling. It’s a timeless film that can apply to ANY generation; regardless of how much time goes by
Having the original film actors do the voices for the animated series was such a cool idea, that almost never happens in animated adaptations of live action movies or tv shows.
Kevin's writing is really insightful. That's why that "crappy little movie" Clerks became a sensation that spawned all these spinoffs and sequels. Kevin's funny and also soulful!
Clerks 3 hit me in the nuts really hard. Grew up with these movies. And not one till Clerk 3. Was as emotionally involved as the others. Yet it reminds you of your own life if growing up in that generation. What Kevin created was relative to everyone who was growing up at that time as a teenager to college age. Why I loved it so much. Cause we all knew someone like Jay,Silent Bob, Dante, and the others. For us it was local Taco Bell parking lot. But all of us from this generation. Can relate to it personally. Clerks 3 was the best finish to the story and it was very personal for all of us I think. Outside of Kevin and those who took part in the film/s. I admit, was first movie in a long time, since I was a kid, I cried like a little bitch by the end of it.. Where Fast Times at Ridgemont was a mirror image of a generation. Kevin's Clerks series is a reflection of a generation and how its grown in age.. Best movie ever!
Yeah, I also cried like a bitch through the end of C3 and I hope Kevin Smith did, too, as he was finalizing that storyline... What a brilliant ending for that series. Top shelf creations that will continue to amuse and be mused over, for generations to come.
@@harryshuman9637 agreed! the clerk’s story came full circle and ended perfectly with the second one. There was no need for a 3rd and it just felt like him trying to cash in on the characters and his fanbase one last time
I was working as a clerk for ten best years of my life and i saw alot of myself in those movies...1,2 and 3 i laugh so hard but i was heart broken in the 3rd one but i still got a laugh and i say thank you Kevin smith. when i was 23 people always said i look like dante and i never knew that movie was until years later.. Now i'm 50 and i relate to the character and yes my woman still dogs me about seing the doctor and after seing the last movie i owe it to myself to check my heart..because i dont want my story to end just yet. again...Thank you Kevin.
I just watched Clerks III and I am blown away!! I wonder if Kevin Smith cried like a bitch when he was finally done writing that script, because I know CIII made MY eyes leak by the end... From the very first to the last, it can be said that the Clerks movies aren't just movies to be watched, they are an enigma to be experienced. Like sooo many others out there, I also forfeited my blockbuster account for not returning the copy of clerks, when it first hit the shelves... Thirty years later, I can still say WORTH IT!!
Thank god Kevin Smith was able to retain ownership of the characters Jay and Silent Bob right away. Can you imagine if Disney owned them? Everything after would suck!
I wish Kevin Smith could escape his nostalgic I almost died phase. I didn't hate Clerks 3 but it wasn't very cheery was it. The second movie was perfect to smoke a bong and watch with a friend and giggle like idiots. I don't think I will be rewatching the third one any time soon.
I first saw this movie in 1995, AFTER I'd seen Mallrats. Mallrats introduced me to Kevin Smith's movies. Clerks made me a big fan. Kev's been my favorite filmmaker ever since.
Dave Klein's cinematography is probably my favourite aspect of Clerks II. Even if I turn off the sound, I can watch that thing and go, "Man, this movie looks good." The fact that he went on to work on The Mandalorian is very, very well deserved.
This was a great watch and i've always been a huge clerks fan. Just recently heard about clerks 3 and i can't wait to see it. I've been dealing with homelessness and i'm amazed at the release date and me not knowing it came quite awhile ago.
54 seconds in and we get Scott Mosier!! Got damnit I miss SModcast! Aquatic Justice is still my favorite SModimation! I am so happy that Grace got to take part in this, she's a wonderful Mother!
Kevin smith is the reason i started art. I always loved his comics books and his artistry i even got a chance to meet him at a comic con and get autograph a couple of my sketches i drawn and he loved them. I drew him and jay infront of quickstop and i drew him and jay holding the monkey when they saved the monkey from the lab. 😂 He loved them and i gave him the monkey one i was so shocked he liked it that much such a down to earth guy and jason is awesome too definitely who they are on film as in person. Snoogins
I clearly remember the day I first saw Clerks. Back then we would grab 5 or 6 movies from the Hollywood Video and just check them out. I remember seeing the trailer for it on some of those tapes... so the next time at the video store I grabbed it not knowing one thing about it. I was at a friend's house smoking bowls and watching the start of the flick. I had never seen anything like it. Aside from the black and white aesthetic it just had this realness to it... like I had found some footage of real people living their lives somewhere. It didn't feel like a typical 'movie'.... it felt authentic and relatable. I felt like these guys weren't playing characters but just being themselves. It was the first and probably only time I thought making a movie myself with some friends might actually be possible. That was just the look... the other key dimension is the dialog. It sounded like how my buddies and I would talk, just random observations and gross potty humor and sex jokes. I felt like these we're people you could meet and would give you the time of day instead of being unapproachable stars. I really can't say enough about how influential this film was to me... it sparked a long obsession with independent films and the View Askew universe. Thank you so much to Kevin and everyone involved with this classic franchise. It really is a work of pure art.
The thing about clerks is simple it's a real movie about the day in the life of a clerk. Yeah, a lot of crazy shit added, but at its core, it's a day in the life of a clerk. I can't tell you how many times i quoted the movie at work. And I would always laugh to myself.
I remember when Kennedy from mtv was at Woodstock 94 and she was talking about how some film called clerks was playing. It was nighttime and most of the people were sleeping but it was cute
I watched 3 on streaming (purchase) release, and once more with my wife. But I cannot watch this film ever again. My lifelong best friend is terminally ill and 3 just hits too close to home.
The first time seeing clerks was when I brought clerks x, that's when I started to fall in love with Kevin smith's movie. How on Earth can you not like Kevin's movies. My favorite movie will always be Jersey girl with my favorite stand up comic George Carlin. His clerks movies will alway touch people of all kinds.
26:00 I remember how back in the day, when it first came out, the DVD of the clerks cartoon was like, the "cool" pick for when you went to rent something to watch. It was what the younger people who worked @ my local video store would recommend etc
What Kevin and the Clerks ensemble do is embody some sort of evocative, esoteric metaphor that instantly hits for certain kinds of people. If you're not in it, you might not get it. Fortunately, a LOT of people get it. We just can't convey why.
Cinevizual, can you please upload the commentary from your Blu-Ray? It's really hard for me to get a copy, because I live in the opposite part of the world(
Clerks III absolutely broke me in half. I lost my Dante in 2023 (I’m probably really the Dante but it’s my story so I’m Randall). I actually lost 4 really close friends in 2023. The way I cried watching Clerks III made me realize how bad I was hurting. I am glad I was born in the time period of Kevin Smith’s writing. Who knew dick and fart joke movies would have this big of an impact on a generation.
For a very long time I was looking forward to another Clerks movie, I loved the first two but this was the Clerks 3 that the fans got, wow, Kevin Smith, this guy put out the most depressing sequel I've ever witnessed, my God, dude has lost his mind, did he have a brain aneurism as well, I mean damn. Clerks 2 did it right, but Clerks 3, such a disappointment.
Great documentary. I had just recently bought a Chewlies Gum t-shirt. It's great when someone recognizes what it's from. I do have a Porch M***ey shirt too. That one didn't go over so we'll but I still think it's fricken hilarious in it's relation to the movie.
I started working in 'customer service' type jobs RIGHT around the time I first saw "Clerks"; have said since; that "Clerks" is a prerequisite for working with the public; DON'T be like Randall!!!!!
2024 just watched this again! It is still BETTER than 99% of movies today.
Pity about clerks 3
its always better than you remember it being.

Clerks 3 was SOOOOO awesome we loved it so much in our 50's now and it all hit home so hard perfect we need an Elias movie now!!!!
bruh, Clerks 3 was a massive disapointment. It looked like a RUclips sketch.
About kites
Thank you, Bob Hawk!
love how when they start talking about clerks 2, the music from back to the well starts playing
This is a amazing documentary just like a keven smith movies well put togetehr great job
Thank god Kevin Smith was able to retain ownership of the characters Jay and Silent Bob right away. Can you imagine if Disney owned them? Everything after would suck!
What an emotional roller coaster.
Thanks for posting this! I've seen the movie about 20 times and I don't have the DVD yet. 🤦
Thanks for uploading this. I hope they release a box set with all 3
Same I’d buy that in a instant
Thank you Mister Smith
2 is my comfort movie.
Me too! Any time that I have any kind of medical procedure, it’s the first movie that I watch recovering.
I saw clerks in the movie theater back in 1995. It was in a small movie theater in Utrecht, Netherlands. We were laughing our heads off.
Great to see this. These films have meant a lot to me over the years.
I first saw this movie in 1995, AFTER I'd seen Mallrats. Mallrats introduced me to Kevin Smith's movies. Clerks made me a big fan. Kev's been my favorite filmmaker ever since.
24.50"this is my surprise?" Always classic 😂
Dave Klein's cinematography is probably my favourite aspect of Clerks II. Even if I turn off the sound, I can watch that thing and go, "Man, this movie looks good." The fact that he went on to work on The Mandalorian is very, very well deserved.
This was a great watch and i've always been a huge clerks fan. Just recently heard about clerks 3 and i can't wait to see it. I've been dealing with homelessness and i'm amazed at the release date and me not knowing it came quite awhile ago.
Are you okay
@@blobcity3591 Doing the best i can but it's hard.
I hope you have been safe and have found a home by now.
Monmouth County boy here , love everything KS does !
kevin smith is like kojima, he lost the mojo
I liked Clerks and absolutely LOVED Clerks II. I have yet to watch the latest but I've heard so many good things about it.
“This tastes like piss and flies”
Going back to where you started is not the same as having never left
54 seconds in and we get Scott Mosier!! Got damnit I miss SModcast! Aquatic Justice is still my favorite SModimation! I am so happy that Grace got to take part in this, she's a wonderful Mother!
I love Kevin Smith and all of his movie characters .
seeing jay do goodbye horses before silence of the lambs is the biggest flex
Kevin smith is the reason i started art. I always loved his comics books and his artistry i even got a chance to meet him at a comic con and get autograph a couple of my sketches i drawn and he loved them. I drew him and jay infront of quickstop and i drew him and jay holding the monkey when they saved the monkey from the lab. 😂 He loved them and i gave him the monkey one i was so shocked he liked it that much such a down to earth guy and jason is awesome too definitely who they are on film as in person. Snoogins
CLERKS...one of the best movies ever IMO :) watch it all the time..
That's beautiful man
The spiritual successor to clerks is waiting.
That was beautiful, man…
I clearly remember the day I first saw Clerks.
Thank you for uploading this. They falsely claimed this documentary was on the DVD even though it's not.
I remember when Kennedy from mtv was at Woodstock 94 and she was talking about how some film called clerks was playing. It was nighttime and most of the people were sleeping but it was cute
That's where I saw it for the first time.
With his last several projects, Kevin should just turn in his Gen X card.
I am so happy to see Jason with better dentures....that was so off putting the past ten years. He just didn't look like himself. Well done sir.
That's what felt off! Never knew...
By the way……clerks 2 is highly underrated….that movie is fucking hilarious…….and I know me some funny……
So grateful for all of these movies 🎬
I watched 3 on streaming (purchase) release, and once more with my wife. But I cannot watch this film ever again. My lifelong best friend is terminally ill and 3 just hits too close to home.
I love every Jay and Silent Bob/Clerks movie!!!!
I won't lie, I'm so stoked for clerks 4, kids growing up, and clerks 5 grumpy old guys...
Like so many, Kevin Smith became what he was originally against.
was always a big fan kev my silent friend you rock
The first time seeing clerks was when I brought clerks x, that's when I started to fall in love with Kevin smith's movie. How on Earth can you not like Kevin's movies. My favorite movie will always be Jersey girl with my favorite stand up comic George Carlin. His clerks movies will alway touch people of all kinds.
I have started a script in my head. I hope my friends will help me film it!
Kevin Smith from Clerks 2 to Clerks 3 are completely 2 different people
Having pretty much grown up with the Clerks movies and the viewaskew universe clerks 3 is a great movie but it is very emotional
26:00 I remember how back in the day, when it first came out, the DVD of the clerks cartoon was like, the "cool" pick for when you went to rent something to watch. It was what the younger people who worked @ my local video store would recommend etc
Thank you Bob Hawk
That time traveling guy from "Misfits": I'm not even supposed to be here!
Clerks 3 was a miserable experience
For you.. I loved it.. I've seen all of his movies except yoga hoezzz
What Kevin and the Clerks ensemble do is embody some sort of evocative, esoteric metaphor that instantly hits for certain kinds of people. If you're not in it, you might not get it.
Fortunately, a LOT of people get it. We just can't convey why.
This is totally fantastic a true filmmakers dream and passion
Cinevizual, can you please upload the commentary from your Blu-Ray? It's really hard for me to get a copy, because I live in the opposite part of the world(

That kind of sounds like Jeff Anderson didn’t want to do it at first but was pressured by Kevin crying
Exactly, Jeff Anderson had the sense to say "no"
He should have stuck to his guns. Clerks 3 sucked
Jeff Anderson was right
Kevin Smith was the perfect guy to give enough authenticity to completely sell out.
Killer movie I was a junior in hs and went after work to see this like 3 days in a row
Great to see Scott and Dave in this.
I absolutely love the clerks cartoon
Clerks 3 was depressing. Randal was more of an a hole than normal.
I wish you would have had the same thought when you did he-man
Best movies with out special effects and character driven
I would love clerks to come back an animated series🎉🎉
I wonder how many View Askew fans are unaware that Scott Mosier co-Directed the highest grossing Christmas film of all time
If you get a chance. Watch the Snowball Effect from the Clerks X DVD Special Features. I love Kevin's behind the scenes docs.
40:00 It's time to rewatch Clerks II
My love for you is like a rock….bezerkerrrrr 😅my friend in middle school used to sing that shit all the time
I really liked the first two Clerks but Clerks III was sad and not very funny.
There's a Clerks 3?
Looks like Jay finally convinced Kevin to start shooting heroin
This was so good
I started working in 'customer service' type jobs RIGHT around the time I first saw "Clerks"; have said since; that "Clerks" is a prerequisite for working with the public; DON'T be like Randall!!!!!
