- Footage taken from my trip to Japan in May 2019.
This is my first time putting together an edit in over 10 years. I had a blast shooting and editing this footage. Whilst I think the video is okay, I know there is room for improvement and I look forward to editing more, and learning new skills to improve with.

Probably the most underrated nang video I've ever seen
Killer content man, just simply awesome footage. And you did a great job job in editing too. The anamorphic lens really is its own animal, it adds so much character.
One thing I really admire about your style, is you took your time and let the video breathe by letting the environments speak for themselves. Beautiful landscapes, crowd footage, and timelapses. Too many filmmakers today are throwing a hundred clips a second at the viewer, and honestly it can be too overwhelming to enjoy, making the experience too underwhelming to appreciate.
You're awesome! Please keep filming. Subbed
I couldn't agree more! So many videos now are quick transitions with fast pace. I wanted there to be a little more emotion in this video.
And thank you so much for your kind words!! That really means a lot! I was a little nervous to upload since this was my first edit in almost a decade. I'm super stoked to hear so many people are enjoying it!
So. Fricking. BEAUTIFUL! - Just hit the order for my lens and cant wait! Thank you for uploading this content!
Thank you for liking it! You're gonna have a blast using that lens!
This is amazing. The timing on the cuts is great and variation of the shots and subjects keeps things interesting. So cool.
Great work. I'm starting to become a believer in starting with lens before jumping to big bodies
I couldn't agree more! There were definitely times during my trip when I wished I had a big body due to limitations of iPhone sensors and lens, but all-in-all the iPhone worked great for what I was doing! Using the iPhone with the Moment app, Filmic Pro, and DJI Go app made the iPhone great tool!
Looks great dude! congrants! love that editing
The anamorphic lens from Moment is my favorite. I use that all the time
This looks gorgeous! I finally ordered my #moment case and I’ll definitely get the Anamorphic lense. Great stuff!
You're going to love it! Their lenses are the best in quality for phones in my opinion!
Amazing work. Keep it up !
That s2000 did it for me. 🤚🤚
Very nice, i will try anamorphic lens for my iphone 8 plus, thank you.
Japan is amazing! 😍📷
Thank you! I'm still working on my color grading and correction skills, but I'm glad you still liked the video!!
Facts
This is sooooo good!
Amazing work. I bet it took quite a few hours to edit. Good job.
Thank you! :)
Awesome video i love japan and home i can someday i can travel there. I too have the anamorphic lens by moment i only used it in a couple of my videos i have to use it more often
It works well ?
This is so good!
Can you explain the crosswalk shots? So interesting!
This video inspired my video content.
Wow! that is very flattering! I'm glad you liked it. Thank you!
This is amazing
Thank youuuu!!! :)
Great job! I really liked the time-lapse clips and the lens flare from the anamorphic lens. Your editing skills are excellent. Question: did you need to jerry-rig your DJI Osmo to offset the weight of Moment's anamorphic lens?
Moment actually makes a counterweight that has two pieces that screw on and off to adjust the weight. It works fantastically! Part of me wishes I thought of just taping some batteries or something first so I could save some money, but the quality and convenience of the counterweight by moment made it worth it! www.shopmoment.com/shop/universal-gimbal-counterweight
Awesome footage. Love the anamorphic look and I'm going to Japan next year so I'll hope to get to film like this! May I ask how your footage looks so good at night? It's amazing for an iPhone 7 and night shots and filming were where I'm a little worried for my own photography
I see S2000, I hit like
Cool vid dude !
So good, what settings do you set to get time lapse like those at the 2:33 Mark?🤗
In FilmicPro everything was shot in log in 4k at 24fps with the exception of some shots that i wanted in slomo which i did at 120fps. As for the time lapse shot you're referring to, it was just a basic time lapse with a warp stabilizer I added in post.
Awesome
Thank you!
Dope!!!
THANKS
Are all these places in Tokyo? Amazing. Can't wait for my anamorphic lens to arrive.
Not all of the places. Most of the shots are in Tokyo, but I did spend some time in Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima, and Fukushima.
Sooo good 😻😻😻
AmZing
i installed the filmic pro but u cant udjust some settings u have to pay agad for color grading
Sorry for the late response. In case you still haven't found the answer to your question, yes you have to pay to unlock the ability to film in different color profiles.
gerdygramTV can you shoot normally then edit the color grading in post on iPhone?
Do I need an specific app to get this look on my vids or I can do it through my regular camera app from iPhone 11
This was on an iPhone 7 Plus, so I imagine you will be able to achieve even better results with an 11! I used FilmicPro shooting at 24fps at 1/48 shutter speed for most of the slow shots. Other than that and some of the tools listed in the description, I think the look you are referring to will come from color corrections and color grading you decide to utilize in post.
What did you use to keep your phone so stable for panning and stuff?
I used the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 gimbal for iPhone for almost everything. A few shots were just being as steady as I can while holding the camera :)
Anamorphic lens by Moment works with osmo mobile 3 and iphone 11 pro max ?
It sure does! This was filmed with an iphone 7 plus tho. But moment just recently started shipping their new cases for iphoen 11 pro and pro max this week! And yes, they are all compatible when you use a osmo mobile 2 or 3. You will just need the counterweight, which moment also sells! :)
@@gerdygram this counterweight works also ? www.amazon.fr/ULANZI-contrepoids-Compatible-stabilisateur-anamorphique/dp/B07Z4CGBD3/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?keywords=ULANZI+PT-10+OSMO+Mobile+3&qid=1574632945&sr=8-3
Which lens do you prefer more? The Anamorphic or Wide?
It really depends on the look I'm going for. Both are capable of capturing some great cinematic shots! I had just gotten the anamorphic lens prior to this trip, so I was using it for everything simply because it was new to me.
Do we have to buy the app to film anamorphic everyone?
You don't have to, but it certainly makes it much easier.
The moment lens is blue or gold or both?😮
The one used in the video has the blue flare. At the time of filming it was the only one they sold. Now they have two different ones, a blue one and a gold one.
@@gerdygram The video looks awesome 👍
@@shudoy9386 Thank you!!!
awesome video and editing!! did you shoot in logv2 or flat for this?
Thanks man!! Most of it was in LogV2 using the Filmic Pro app. But some of the shots are just native iphone camera due to using the DJI app which is unable to film Log.
Raw footage or color graded?
Color graded. It was my first ever attempt at color grading. I definitely need to work on that skill more.
What software did you use for colour grading?
Amazing job, wich app you used? Filmic pro?
Thank you!! Yeah, most of the clips were filmed using Filmic Pro, but I also used the DJI app the panning time lapse shots so it would be a smooth move from point A to point B
@@gerdygram thank you
